zappgator,
Frustrating app to work with
I purchased a pair of hearing aids, model 9030, from Costco 2 weeks ago. I really like the hearing aids but the app is very frustrating. They connect to my phone when I first put them on in the morning but after that it is a real hit and miss situation. They won’t reconnect automatically if I walk away from the phone. The majority of the time they will not reconnect even after powering everything down and turning back on. The only reliable way to stay connected is to carry my phone around with me all the time. Bummer!

Compatibility with iPhone 12 Pro Max Issue
My Philips Hearlink 9110 mini-rite hearing aids purchased in Oct 2020 have worked seamlessly via Bluetooth with my iPhone 11 Pro Max using the Hearlink app. However, that has not been the case with a newly purchased iPhone 12 Pro Max. I now get loud static and interference suddenly occurring when listening to a variety of apps in one or both of my hearing aids, and sometimes with Bluetooth on and not even actively using any apps. That issue has forced me on multiple times to disable the Hearlink app by turning off Bluetooth pairing to avoid hearing damage. I am assuming it is an iPhone 12 design problem and not a Philips hearing aid Bluetooth interference or app problem , but I wanted to make the issue known here besides with Apple. I do give the app a five star rating for use with my iPhone 11 but no stars for use with my iPhone 12.

Horrible App, Might Return Everything
I was thrilled with the sound of my new Phillips hearing aids, which I might return over this faulty unworkable app.

This app makes my 4 yr old hearing aids the preferred hearing aid for tv. Those require a necklace and are not as clear but this app ruins everything because it cuts out the TV audio stream if you want to use your phone at the same time.

First, the good part, you can listen to Audible or Libby (haven’t checked chirp or music) and open your browser or your game apps and the audio will continue to play.

This is NOT the case for TV. If you open a game on your phone, even silenced games, immediately the TV audio stream cuts out & stays out until you close the game. Browser pages vary. Apparently ones with sound content present, even though you didn’t start that audio stream (just it’s presence) cuts the TV audio out until you close the page.

Further, 2 phones don’t solve the problem. I closed out the Philips program on my new phone, installed it on my old phone and hoped I could sit & play my games. Nope! Even though the app was closed out on the new phone, somehow it knew and killed my TV audio.

Minor issue is the comical battery level. New batteries often show 70%-50%.... it’s a total joke. I can live with weird battery readings, but I do not want to be prohibited from watching tv & playing my games at the same time.

Disappointed with app and hearing aids with an iPhone connection
Just received a iPhone 15 and the best reaction is that when connected to the phone and the hearing aids all is good. However if you put your phone down and walk away everything fails from there. I loose connection with the app and also the iPhone.
To regain connection I need to restart the app and leave it running in the background and maybe the hearing aids may connect to the phone and maybe not. Not very happy as a new Philips user. Will continue for another week or so but if this is the way forward back to Costco they go. My old hearing aids by another manufacturer were rock solid with connections to the app and phone.
Alison Tee,
App hangs on certain screens
I have had to delete and re-download the app several times. When you are trying to troubleshoot why your aids are suddenly not pairing, the instructions refer to “turn your aids off and on” or “unpair and re-pair” without telling you HOW. Assuming you know. So you click into more screens and then IT WILL NOT LET YOU GO BACK. so I sit here with paired aids but can’t adjust anything cause it is stuck in Demo mode with no way out. I am pretty tech literate so if I have trouble I can’t imagine how an older person can deal. Need user acceptance testing with older users.
Matcelp,
Horrible
I really like the HearLink app, or I did when I had an iPhone 7. I got an iPhone 12 Pro the day they came out and I love the iPhone but 10 to 20 times a day something will cause either my left or my right hearing aid to blast noise at full volume. I called Phillips and they very nicely told me the iPhone was the problem. Apple says the app does not have enough users to qualify for priority treatment.

If you have an iPhone 12 Pro do not get the HearLink app or hearing aids before checking the current status of this problem. It has removed the best feature , I can no longer risk taking phone calls through my hearing aids due to the risk of a sudden high volume disruption.😢
CCodesr,
New app
I have paired my hearing aids multiple times. Used to have two settings on top one general and one for speech. This program won’t go out of demo mode demonstrating mini hearing aids. I have the Philips HearLink 9030 hearing aids. The iPhone says they are linked but I cant get the program to recognize my hearing aids and go out of demo. The remote Mike feature will work but I cant controll the volume on the aids and switch from general to voice or speech mode. I loved my hearing aids. I have since gotten my program to work. So all is well that ends well.
Yuefgbcutebyu,
Buggy enough to be annoying
Used on iPhone and iPad. For something as critical as hearing aids you would think that the developers would have performed more testing. The BT connection is spotty and can require multiple app exits (full app exits, not just dismissing it to the background) and even phone shutdowns to get the app to connect correctly. Imagine if your glasses randomly went out of focus multiple times per day. The dev team should be ashamed to have produced this and then done nothing to fix it.
Cycist,
Used to work great
It seems whenever a developer “improves” an app it gets worse. When I first got the hearing aids and used the app I was happily surprised at how well they worked compared to other brand and app. For the past few weeks it’s acting hinky. Get these messages it won’t connect, then one hearing aid drops out. Most annoying is if I pick up my iPhone to change volume whole thing drops out and have to start from scratch. What happened? Hey developers! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
Napawe,
Great for two years and then….
I’ve enjoyed having this app as it provides dual purpose. I use it as ear pod for calls and adjusting or changing my hearing aid options. Yesterday, they weren’t paired with phone (Same phone) so I tried to pair them and haven’t been able to ever since. I’ve tried everything they recommend. I even deleted the app and downloaded again. So frustrating and now I see others have had the same issue.
