Aynessa,
Awesome app, BUT! WARNING!!!
WARNING: enabling Full Access on the PokeRater keyboard will enable the developers to fully access everything you type, including credit card numbers, bank account information, and passwords. Direct from Apple: "Third Party Keyboards provide an alternative way to input keyboard data. These keyboards can access all of the data you type, including bank account and credit card numbers, street addresses, as well as other personal and sensitive information. These keyboards may also access nearby text or data, which is useful for improving autocorrect functionality."

I really do love this app. It's fantastic for showing you the quality and IVs of the Pokemon you catch in POGO. But, the Full Access option on the PokeRater keyboard is absolutely terrifying. There is NO reason for them to need that access, and the fact that they instruct users to enable that on purpose is highly suspicious.
pattithepotato,
Keyboard is the best feature
Overall, kudos to the developer for a well made app that looks pretty sleek too. It will even auto-import in the free ads version, unlike another popular IV checker currently in the App Store.

The iOS keyboard integration is truly the best feature of this app. I can now input special symbols, copy & paste text, and edit within the name. That said, I wish we could drag and drop our favorite symbols because I want them in a certain order. I’ve had to redo the whole list several times already (twice because I accidentally tapped on a symbol and it got removed). That was such a pain. Also, a few symbols don’t work and showed up as boxed question marks. There is also a minor, yet inconvenient, issue with the keyboard when there’s a “?” in the name.

I would definitely consider the paid subscription once the name generator is more customizable.

The IV checker is not that much faster than inputting the info yourself into a browser-based IV calculator, but can’t blame the app since it doesn’t have direct access to Pokémon appraisal. There are also several minor bugs throughout the app, but they are manageable and the dev is quick with updates. More importantly, I disagree with the calculation of the defensive rating half of the time. I think the algorithm needs improvement. Blissey’s best defensive set should be zen headbutt and dazzling gleam.
- Leisel,
Forgets my favorites
I downloaded this app specifically for the alternate keyboard that allows me to add special characters to my Pokémon names in Pokémon Go. I am really glad to have found this app, as that is so helpful.

The one problem that I have with this app is that, while it allows me to add the symbols I use often to a favorites list for easy access, it randomly clears the list and I have to go and hunt down the symbols again. If you can make the favorites list persistent, this would be 5 stars. Being able to rearrange the order of the symbols on the favorites list after finding them to add to the list would also be helpful.
Rosymomma,
Loved it until it was no longer updated....
I have used this app and even paid for the “pro” version since it came out. It is the easiest to use and has the best looking layout. Definitely developed for the end user.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this app as it has now been nearly a year since it was updated and a whole lot has changed in the game in that time.....like shadow Pokémon. This app cannot read the shadow Pokémon and just gives an error message. When you try to send a support ticket after the game errors, it will no longer allow you to email your ticket—I am guessing that the email address is no longer valid.

I am honestly quite sad that this has happened to this great app. I have been trying other apps for iOS and I become even more sad and frustrated...nothing comes close to PokeRater’s user interface. Really wish this app was still being supported or updated.
joemyzster,
Best IV checker for iOS!
Love this app!! It's super simple and easy to use and yet packed with a ton of useful information that's organized really well. The interface is also very aesthetically pleasing making the experience of using this app much more pleasant compared to Poke Genie--which has much of the same useful info, but the interface is nowhere near as polished as it is within this app.

The only suggestion I have would be the inclusion of buddy candy distances added to the pokedex so we know how many kilometers we have to walk in order to earn candy. Other than that the app is perfect you won't be disappointed!
Maxon10,
Really solid
As a player/trainer who's very interested in the number behind the game, I really enjoy using this app. The graphics are helpful and the customization options are a nice touch as well. It could definitely benefit from some update quality-of-life features (namely importing photos from a folder rather than all images, refreshing info on movesets, and especially importing via screen recording like another amazing PoGO app). But even without these improvements, PokéRater is still really good, pick it up even if you have an IV checking app.

Confusing, but useful(?)
I’ve had this app over a week, and I still am thoroughly confused by it. I usually use PokeGenie but saw that this had a connection with PokeBattler. But I’m thinking of deleting it because the PokeBattler portion isn’t worth the problems I’m having. If the following items were fixed, I’d use it along with PokeGenie (PG), but otherwise I’ll delete it:
-Why “scan history”?! Why can’t we just have a Pokémon listing that is easily searchable like PG instead of making five steps to see all of one Pokémon?!
-what is the point of me scanning when I have to type all the data in?! Useless, it’s only good for the pic of the Pokémon and that’s it.
-the weaknesses/strengths from attacking Pokémon is a great idea, but there’s no way to see what my pokes are strong AGAINST. use that tech to show me what my poke’s move set is weak/strong against and this app might be worth it
-when I update a powered up poke, the scan ends up in my history and I get doubles which is so annoying
I do NOT recommend this app! Save yourself some work and grief and get the PokeGenie app. It’s SO much better!
DTDavis,
Missing some important symbols for naming
I was excited, but in creating a custom keyboard, I found many symbols I use to be missing. Under the Unicode miscellaneous symbols category, I use the data rich three bars symbols to describe my best Pokémon ... rather than ⓯⓯⓮ I use ☴ ... solid bar means 15, broken bar means not 15. A couple others missing would include ☲ ☵ ☷ and so on. Given the inclusion of so many characters I doubt anyone would use, I don’t understand why these were dropped.

Sure, it’s for me, but we all have our naming conventions, so I don’t understand the pick and choose decision by PokéRater.
iphone4lah,
PokeGenie still ‘better’
This is a great full featured IV app with a terrific keyboard. The only problem with it are information density and the busyness of its UI. While you can easily see the main two numbers (CP, atk/def/sta and IV) in PokeGenie with clear color coded IVs (yellow for 100%, green for excellent etc. with huge IV numbers), its very hard to scan it in a glance in this app. Less important information like duelability % etc pretty distracting on the main screen. Appraising is also very tedious and powering up check through the scrolling UI is very unintuitive. It’s actually quite easy to quickly improve the UI visual of the app by applying full IV color coding background wrapping the pokemon boxes in the main listing.
Majiggerrosetamer,
Essentially worthless to me
It didn’t identify the majority of my screenshots, including most of my main attackers. There’s an option to send an email, but no easy option to manually enter a mon. I wish Pokebattler would collab with PokéGenie instead, which is a superior app.

I was going to give it two stars because technically they recognized about 15 useful screenshots and some of the data was informative, but the fact that it started crashing to the point that it was unusable means I can’t, in good conscience, give it more than a 1/5. An app that doesn’t let you use it for more than five minutes can’t be properly reviewed.
