Cannot get into a multiplayer match
I tried this game when it first came out and could never get into a multiplayer match. I don’t want to just play against the computer. I want to play against other players! This problem persists even now; I deleted the game not long after originally downloading it and decided to re-download a few days ago. Still cannot get into a player match, it always says that it can’t find one and just keeps suggesting matches against AI.
It would be great if the dev would reach out and address the issue. Can’t contact them about it because the game doesn’t even appear on their website! Disappointing.
Edit, 6/18: So now I’m getting into games, but it seems the opponent resigns almost half the time, even when they have the upper-hand. It always lags for a few seconds before the forfeit happens. Added another star, since I am finally able to get into games, but the games keep lagging and hanging randomly. I’ve actually had to quit a game myself, because the game was non-responsive- I could upgrade buildings, but not train troops and the army I had just stood at the enemy base and didn’t attack.

Cheaters Have Made This Game Unplayable
I used to really love this game. But apparently, there are Red Reign cheats out there that people have found online. I didn’t know this kind of cheating was possible in this particular part of the Apple ecosystem (Apple Arcade). I don’t know why people find cheating to be so fun. What’s the point of making everything so easy? It’s easy to tell that some hacking of the game is going on because some how or another, the opposition will literally have 50+ swordsman or what not when the game just started. No matter where you go on the map, you’re getting cursed, and his/ her characters are getting healed in another part of the map at the same time. All the while, capturing all of the wood mills and gold mines simultaneously. None of this stuff is humanly possible. So, it looks like I’m done with this game until they get a handle on the cheating ✌️

Fun but lacks multiplayer
This is my favorite game on the arcade, but multiplayer games freeze, or “data out of sync” error message. It takes a long time to find an opponent, or no opponent is found at all. The award system does not tell me what I want to know. Please tell me number of games won, and number lost. Please identify the Arcade name of the opponent in multiplayer mode so that I can invite other players by name. Please rate players by name and rank. I gave 4 stars because the game itself is so good. So many games on Apple Arcade are not quite finished! Games like this should be as a “beta” release so that supporters like me might be rewarded in some way for helping you work through the bugs. Finally I noticed that you do not reply to comments in the reviews. Is anybody listening? hello, HELLO?

Excellent take on the RTS genre!
I’ve been a huge fan of Real Time Strategy games like StarCraft and WarCraft III. While this game doesn’t have the same blistering, mind melting action per minute requirement, it does actually have a good deal of strategy. Red Reign simplifies things like micro and macro concepts of rearing and controlling your army in a way that creates a lovely dynamic. The balance they struck is so lovely. This genre on mobile is usually reimagining of Tower Defense, but the devs did not do that. Not and all and I love it.
Now, the only con I can see for this game is the multiplayer. Granted, I don’t hang this on the developer’s head. It’s simply not their fault there isn’t a player base yet. That being said, OH MY GOD IS MULTIPLAYER FUN. There’s so many little bluffs that go back and forth. I recommend this game for anyone with an Apple Arcade subscription. Give it a shot and see if it’s for you.
To the devs: keep it up! You guys did excellent work on this title.

It’s good but there’s room for improvement.
When I first started the game, I loved it! It’s easily the best game on Apple Arcade. But some things could use some more work. I like the new update with the fae, but they cause a lot of glitch and the two new worlds that went with it are also hard to play in because of the glitch, and then all of a sudden it says the other person you play against did white flag, even when they didn’t, but it still says you both won?? Confused. Also, on the map forest allies on the mode survival, the arrows don’t work with how you can point the direction in which the army goes, please fix this. And also, I feel like all the wizards are each army are extremely powerful, one can freeze people while dealing damage, another does huge damage with a single blast, and another can spawn this huge monster that fights on its own while the wizard can fight independently. Please work on this part where the wizards have so much advantage that strategy at this point doesn’t matter.

Fun game, but...
I love the game; the mechanics are simple and easy to learn, with just enough variation in races and maps to make things interesting. BUT... at the high levels of play, cheaters have cracked this game. For example... just now, in the middle of what seemed to be a really fun, even battle, I had an army of warlocks coming down on me (which I could see as they attacked and took a checkpoint). I was pinned down, waiting for the imminent attack on my base... but it never appeared. Apparently this enemy army was able to magically teleport away from conflict. This happened not once but twice, while at the same time my opponent had managed to somehow upgrade his base while also manually cursing my troops and healing his own, while I held more command points. I’m not a newb. Really. And I’m not a sore loser. But this was ridiculous. And it has happened to me several times now. There should be a way to flag players, at the very least.

Amazing game but dead
This game is so much fun and I haven’t been able to stop playing it for a few months now and I’d highly recommend to anyone who likes games like this. However, it does have some draw backs. The main one being it’s nearly dead in terms of player activity. The developers also seem to have completely stopped putting out updates. Which is such a shame because it has great potential and all it rly needs is a few balancing updates and some people to play against. Nothing new like teams or maps have been added in some time so it can get a bit stale. Although it’s discouragingly close to being a great game, the game play really holds it together and it’s still a lot of fun as it is. I highly recommend.

Something isn’t right
This game is fun but needs serious balancing work. Tbh the Fae is way overpowered. Most “experienced” players only play the Fae bc well they are completely overpowered. If you know how to play the game you will win 99.9 percent of the time if you play Fae against another race. They are overpowered for their starting units. They will win every exchange for capturing the beginning resources and after that the games basically over. Just make lightning units after if you don’t win automatically by spamming starting units at the resources that will eventually decimate any other unit in the game. Most “experienced” players just play Fae over and over because it’s essentially easy mode. The Fae starting units especially hugely need to be nerfed it’s basically ruined the game and the lightning units and it’s why most players just play Fae over and over which I also call the “lame” “easy button” players.

Has potential
This game COULD be great but falls short. I like the game play but I wish you had more control of your troops. Once you send them to attack there is no way to bring them back. In fact, the only command you can give them is to attack a base. If YOU are being attacked you can’t divide your troops how you want or move your archers behind other troops to protect themselves.
Secondly, there is almost never a person to play against in a match. Now this probably isn’t the game’s fault. It’s likely not enough people are playing the game yet. The problem though, is the AI you play afterwards. If you don’t make a match with a real person, the game asks if you want to play the AI. Well the AI is freaking impossible to beat. Somehow it can span 3 times the amount of troops you have. It upgrades itself much faster than you can possibly do yourself. Totally takes the fun out of the game.

Solo gets boring quick
The game is fun for awhile while working thru against the computer (so giving 2 stars as that at least works) but as others have said, the multiplayer is still hopelessly broken months and months after launch - not sure if really no one else is playing or if the program can’t match players but I’ve sat on searching for players and had to eventually give up. Finally got matched ONCE only to freeze and have the opponent give up (with the upper hand too - weird). If this multiplayer is such a long term issue, it makes me wonder why this is still included in Apple Arcade especially as this app has been abandoned by the developer (no update in 6 MONTHS) would hope for better from Apple, really disappointed they don’t hold developers to better account on their arcade product.
