ProfessorSam,
Add live turn prompts —> better rating
I have been using BikeGPX for years to navigate my way through neighborhoods. It’s not as clean a user interface as Ride Spot, but I get alerts when it’s time to turn or I get off my route. Ride Spot simply traces over your saved route with no feedback, so you need to keep the display on the whole time.

I like how the display in Ride Spot will automatically dim to just your arrow icon and save your battery, but that’s of no use if you are not alerted when it’s time to turn or you stray from your route. BikeGPX is not as sexy as Ride Spot, but you’ll stay on your route easier.
bcyclerbob,
Better searching capabilities needed
A lot of potential here but more precise searching is needed for someone trying to find an interesting ride or route close to their location or a particular address. You can only search by city which returns so many results in a major metro area that you can’t effectively drill down to a closer location.

Too many of the listings have no title other than Imported via Garmin.... which give you no value regarding where the ride may be or include.

A search with a radius from a point on a map would be very helpful. Also some type of text search within the title or description such as “trail”, “beer”, “food”, etc. would help.

The Filter options don’t seem to save between uses of the app.

Great features are:
Ability to upload photos and add description and details
Ability to save routes you find in searches
Listing the number of likes
I haven’t tried the scan feature or used the routing for an existing route but they seem like excellent options.

People for Bikes is a great organization so I hope to see valuable improvements coming in time for this app. Easily and quickly finding safe routes when you are in a new area is not covered very well in other apps that I have tried and I hope this one can fill that niche. Especially where bike share programs are in place.
LisaJane1361,
Maybe I don’t get it…
I don’t understand this app… not at all intuitive to search (I poked around for an hour before finding the drop down button), you can’t search by looking at a map, you just get lists of trails by name which doesn’t help me figure out if I can get to my dentist by bicycle etc. Google Maps is easier to decipher cycling routes, and that’s sad. The social features aren’t something that other apps don’t have. Other apps have challenges, too. And it seems you can’t automatically sync Ride Spot with Wahoo or Strava? I’m definitely not going to try to track my rides in two places, and I’m not going to manually enter rides. Overall this is a total miss for me.
Joeismydog,
Integration lacks
I would like to see some integration with apple health/fitness. Or be able to manually enter a ride based off of that information. Sometimes we forget to start both trackers, and need a way to earn credit for them.
I like the ride tracking ability. I don’t use routes or anything other than tracking and sharing rides. I like that you can add pictures, riders and text to give some context to your ride.
Matt in Maryland,
If half of a great app useful?
This app has so e of the best social programing. Unfortunately its lack of integration with apple watch, apple health makes it so that only the most attentive users can remember to start their daily rides in the app. After forgetting to hit record on my ride for the third tine in a week, i decided to wait until the app has better mapping and i integration with apple health.

We need a better app for daily riders. Onespot for social, strava for mapping, apple health for ride detection and whatever your state uses for their bike miles incentive program. In the end i keep rolling back to apple health with my apple watch.
Lancer392,
Not perfect, but one of the best
This app does what it’s intended to. It tracks the ride, reports time and average speed, keeps a record, posts rides and looks up rides. It even displays real time speed, which prompted me to ditch the separate cycling computer. Unless it’s really important to compete for 1,000th place on some local climb, this app surpasses the most popular version (which charges you for some of these features). Best of all, the price is right.
MarianneJean,
Ride Spot keeps me going
Best part of the Ride Spot App? The fun monthly challenges. It’s just another reason to get on your bike and keep riding all year long. This app has really motivated me to keep riding even in cold weather. I also enjoy the data available to me: how far I’ve gone this week/month/year. The challenges usually involve earning a fun patch or other random swag, and who doesn’t love free stuff?
RichColorado,
Still some bugs
App froze part way through a route and then lost all data on the part completed. The ride shows only the last 13 miles out of the 48 that my Garmin shows. The app also seems to use a lot of battery power. The phone was fully charged at the start and is close to 25% or less remaining even though the screen goes into power saving mode. Not happy losing my data as it was part of the Pearl Izumi challenge close to where I live. Now since the app lost my data, I don’t show the challenge completed.
el-abee,
Cue sheets and turn-by-turn directions aren’t helpful
I’ve used the app to record rides and haven’t run into any problems. Now I’m using it in connection with a series of challenge rides. Very hard to navigate the site. Am told there’s a way to download cue sheets but I haven’t figured it. The cue sheet I was sent for a specific ride is vague and turn-by -turn audio directions aren’t very helpful.
BOSSTROUT,
Better all the time
I’ve been using Ride Spot almost a year? My favorite thing is to upload photos in my ride story and share with friends. Glad it’s not about the competitive piece cos that’s not me me at all.

Once I figured out the search screen on the app and how to build routes using my laptop got waaaay easier and more fun.
