Smoke rises on the horizon—the free Kindred Fire update has arrived!

Lord Merick Farrow has begun his rampage, and only you can stop him. Embark on this new, free campaign, enjoying the other updates and improvements to Road to Legend as you hunt down the mad mage and encounter his many allies.

Kindred Fire adds the following to the app:
The first full-length campaign.
Eight story quests.
Two side quests.
New perils and travel events.

The following are additional updates and corrections:
Six additional side quests will appear in any full-length campaign.
Six bonus quests. Each of these quests is unlocked by including the corresponding box expansion in your collection. These quests appear as side quests in any full-length campaign.
Created two levels of difficulty: normal and hard.
Normal difficulty gives players additional gold at the start of the campaign.
Hard difficulty progress peril at a slightly faster rate than the Normal difficulty.
Added a “Surrender” button to the options menu during quests. Selecting this button forces the heroes to lose the quest and returns them to the campaign map.
Updated Tamalir’s City Action. Multiple heroes can increase their XP at once, and the cost is per hero selected.
Adjusted the difficulty of all quests. Peril events take longer to trigger, and heroes receive a bit of a respite from new perils when entering the climax of a quest.
Decreased the difficulty of most minor perils.
“Deadly Peril: Tendrils of Darkness” now affects the heroes collectively instead of each hero equally.
Corrected travel events that were appearing at the wrong time.
The game saves each time an item is bought or sold in the city.
Various small corrections to monster activations and monster group clarifications.
Overriding a saved game with a new party the same name now resets that save game slot. Previously, some information persisted into the new campaign.

Slathered Muffin,
Excellent addition!
One of my favorite games made better!!! This app allows Descent to become a fully cooperative game where the app controls the overlord. The hard setting can be pretty difficult which is great for us experienced players but the normal setting is easy enough for newbies to get acquainted. Please keep content coming, love this addition!
CollegeGuy90,
Excellent way to play Descent
Update (moving to 4 stars from 5): after playing with the app some more, there are a few tweaks that I think would be really useful to players. 1) Allow players to control which minor and major perils are allowed in a campaign (or at least turn them on or off). We got the last breath major peril in the middle of a quest. A 2 round timer where you lose after the 2nd round and the current objective is to “explore” with only 2 players? That totally ruins the game. 2) Inventory from the city seems to disappear after leaving the city and putting down the game for any amount of time. This means players have to waste a week to restock, obnoxious but a more minor complaint.

Original: Loving the app so far, my group had a lot of fun with the tutorial and we are eager to delve into the rest of the content. My one suggestion would be to allow account creation for maintaining saves and content across devices.
nynick83,
App Crashes in Town
I don’t think anyone will fix this at this point with a new edition of the game out, but multiple times on different save slots when going back to town after our second encounter the app crashed. Upon loading most of the items that were up for sale in the market were no longer available. The first screen of items (before it crashed) only showed three instead of four. Annoying.
Mike75432,
Great... but...
I love this app! But the new update has messed up all of the damage, fatigue, might, etc icons. They are now new and it is a pain to try to figure out what they mean. Please fix this!
69_hunter,
Adding items to inventory
So in the game you can find treasure to add to you inventory while on a quest but I don’t see where to add the items I find to my inventory if I stop playing and come back I won’t remember all the items I’ve received. That’s my biggest complaint.
orion graham,
Best board game app
Everything I expected and more of this App will really lift your spirits If you have a descent you should get this app
Oculophage,
Horribly brutal tutorial
We really didn't have fun. The tutorial gleefully bashes you over the head, like a sadistic Dungeon Master with a vendetta. How can a new player learn the basics when the app introduces additional, spiteful mechanics (the Ettin does +4❤️!?) designed to wipe the party before the players can process the info? Practically guaranteed status effects? No thanks, imma go play Dark Souls instead.
Timtheoperasinger,
The future of board gaming and the best solo experience
UPDATE: the kindred fire campaign is grueling and difficult. But though i just lost the second quest, i feel as if my party was made stronger (it was) and my failure to save the cultist triggering a different following quest fills me with awe for what replay-ability could be like. I already know i missed neat artifact on the first quest. I'm 6 hours in running it solo and loving every second.

This app digitizes the parts of descent that could be considered monotonous and gets you playing faster. It assumes the role of overlord controlling all of the monsters, and slowly revealing the map to you as you explore. Because the maps are pre-made and not random as with expansions like nature's ire and forgotten souls, the adventure can be more story focused and cohesive.

its truly thrilling to play descent and not know what the map is until you explore it. To not know what monsters are lurking. the AI is surprisingly smart as it pulls all the stops to try and defeat you on the board. And the more expansions you own, the more content the game can use against you.

Fantasy flight rep i spoke to on the phone told me they plan to support this app with new content as they develop it. You should support it with 5 stars!!! Its too fun! Its a free way to add even more gameplay to your descent base game.

kisertn,
Pretty good but, I have to admit to being a little disappointed...
I acquired Road to legend before The Delve was released. Considering it was free, I was very impressed and I greatly appreciated it. My wallet wasn't as kind as I went out and purchased many add-ons (which is the point methinks :-). My only complaint was that the voice-over work was not more extensive. But hey, it was free, so hard to complain. Then, I purchased The Delve. For the price, I feel the voice-over work should be much more extensive and I will complain. The good of this app cannot be denied but, for the price, I am very disappointed that more of the dialog was not vocalized. It could have been reading the narrative why we were following the movement or setup instructions. I mean, you already had the voice actors, why not? I'll not be purchasing any more quests/campaigns until I hear that this is done. If all that is to be is a vocalized introduction then I'll just stick with what I have. I do thank you for what you've done - don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I need more voice acting if I am to spend more in the future.
me+mymac,
Great first attempt and amazing potential!
This is a pretty polished app for solo or coop gaming in the Descent: Journeys in the Dark board game world. It adds quite a bit of flavor text and atmosphere to make the campaign more immersive. It made me buy the board game again after selling my first copy a few years ago. But, it, of course, can be improved. There is currently no way to inflict conditions on monsters (such as with the Skirmisher's skill "Deep Wounds". Also, Dezra the Vile's reanimate familiar is not being tracked by the game as a separate figure. But it can just be played within Dezra's turn. The app tells you to pull out and ready the map tiles necessary to prepare for the scenario but only identifies them by number. It sure would be helpful to see the tiles to help find them in our bigger collection of expansions.

All in all it's very good and has a lot of potential. It comes with 1 free story scenario and 2 free side quests (that don't advance the story) but future story scenarios and side quests will most likely cost some $.
