1.1.4
2013-08-22
- Added option to cancel die results! Settings > Cancel Symbols. This will allow you to cancel die symbols based on the game's basic rule system. XWing: Cancel hit results first then critical hit results. SWRPG: Success cancel failures and advantages cancel threat. Triumph and Despair will add an additional success/failure to the result in addition to their symbol.
- D100s and D10s should have a more natural number calculation. (40 + 0 = 40, 0 + 00 = 100, etc.).
- Fixed issue where physics could skew die results.
- Tweaked drag functionality for different ppi screens.
- Added "No Result" display to results when they either cancel out or there are no results to display.
- Performance optimizations

SterlingFoxmoore,
Needs better default settings.
The default settings have to be adjusted in order to optimize this app. The starting sensitivity is too low and having ‘cancel symbols’ disabled makes the app harder to use. The ‘cancel symbols’ setting has a confusing name, but does all the math of canceling out successes, failures, advantages, and disadvantages, making the app much easier to use and more useful.

Stellar, Especially After Improvements
The original reason I bought this was to have digital dice for the SW RPG. It was good, but not great. I ended up using other websites for my RPG dice rolling.

I saw there was an update and decided to play around with it. It’s easy to say that I love this app now. You can save presets of dice, which is great. And the fact that you can use generic dice means you can use this for any game. Good to see that flexibility!

The other dice options are also appreciated and makes me want to run Star Wars XWing again. Great job!
Fugly Duckling,
Dice Removed(Edit: Dice added back)
This was my primary dice rolling app. Now I’m finding a new one after they ripped out a lot of conventional dice(d4,d8,d12,d20). Just because your rulebooks don’t specifically call for those dice doesn’t mean I wasn’t using them, even in those games.

But hey, it’s not like I paid for those features, right?

Edit: Those dice have been added back. My thanks to those working on this app. My rating has been changed to reflect the change and quick response.
Argo Baine,
2.0 removed the “fun factor” of 1.0
If there is a way to switch between interface variants, they sure don’t make it easy to find. (I’ve spent 15 minutes scouring “settings” and haven’t found it.)
The 1.0 interface had better options, better default settings, and simulated playing a dice-based game nicely. I especially miss being able to select a sound theme.
Now, I feel like I paid $5.00 for a $0.99 dice calculator with the Star Wars logo.
I think the dev team (or, more probably, the executive that told them they had to change the app completely), “If it ain’t broke... don’t fix it.”
Apple O'nius,
Problem with force dice.
I can’t seem to find a bug report in the app so I’m doing it here. App works great, but when I roll the force dice, the ‘show results’ function are showing dark side pips as a white circle, and light side pips as a dark circle. I feel like this is reversed and is very confusing. This needs to be fixed. Thank you. (Star Wars Role Playing Game.)
walttn,
Pretty useful
This app is pretty useful and helpful to those that can’t the dice quite right or quickly. There is a bug in the version that I found. If you add a boost and it comes up blank it has a 3 as the calculated totals. If you have 2, it will say 6. Didn’t notice this with a setback but still playing with it. This is with the RPG.
Kyle...B,
Overall Good
The only two things that are problematic for me:

For the rpg, force pips are inverted. The dark side pips show up as white and the light side pips are dark in the results. I don’t understand why they would do that. It’s confusing.

There is no ability to add results when rolling dice. Some situations generate automatic successes or failures in different systems and it would be nice to include them ahead of time.

Overall though, it’s solid and useful if you don’t have your dice with you or need more than you have on hand.
Vikentij,
New modifications crippled usefulness
I used to swear by this app as I used it for not only my Star Wars specific but also my general d20 roleplaying. Now that all of the polyhedral dice are gone I have far less use for it, if any, as most tables I play prefer the physical dice. I have not tried to get the variant sounds that were in the last edition but on first glance that customization is gone as well. I really feel that the ball was dropped in a big way here.
Shadewyn,
Don’t update app ... version 1 had better features ...
Loss of basic D20 standard dice in addition to removal of the sound packages that changed up the rolling. Now dice rolls are and endless monotonous series of a couple robot whistles.

The only update to this was addition of a few background pictures and granting the ability for players to cheat with their dice nudging them to better results. Whether it’s the RPG or a mini skirmish ... cheating in your dice app is not a good feature.
Manna-Steel,
Finally good again
Now that the standard dice are back, I have changed my rating to five stars as promised. This app is now a really good dice app. Thanks Fantasy Flight.
