For Sleep Training:

Use the Sleep On Cue™ app around bedtime, THE NIGHT AFTER any night of poor sleep. Simply lie down in bed with your iPhone gently held in your hand. You will hear a series of tones (adjust the volume to keep them very faint). You might want to try using earbud headphones. A slight shake of the phone after each faint tone informs the Sleep On Cue™ app that you are still awake. When you stop responding, the Sleep On Cue™ app knows you have fallen asleep. Following the protocol of Intensive Sleep Retraining, your phone vibrates to alert you that the sleep trial is over.

Next, the Sleep On Cue™ app asks if you THINK you fell asleep, then tells you if you are correct or not. Over time, this process can greatly improve your awareness OF falling asleep, which leads to better ability TO fall asleep. The app then prompts you to leave the bed for a couple of minutes, return, and repeat. 10-15 sleep trials around bedtime (again, following ANY night of poor sleep) can be all it takes to restore confidence in your sleep!

Periodic sleep training with the Sleep On Cue™ app can help reduce reliance on sleeping pills for sleep (always with physician guidance). And after each sleep training session, a summary graph shows your progress during the sleep trials you perform. These graphs are always saved and can be shared (e.g., with your doctor).


For taking a Custom Nap:

The Sleep On Cue™ app lets you enter the amount of time you have for a nap, as well as how long you want to sleep in your nap time. For a custom nap, Sleep On Cue™ uses the same call/response (faint tone/slight shake) method, but once you fall asleep and stop responding to the tones, the app silently keeps going. Then, when the amount of time you entered to actually sleep during your nap is up, Sleep On Cue™ vibrates the phone to wake you up. It's that easy and convenient!

I think this app just saved my life. A major breakthrough!
Week four into CBTi, I was really struggling with overwhelming anxiety that was preventing me from falling asleep. Despite religiously executing sleep restriction, stimulus control and cognitive exercises, my nighttime anxiety felt like a freight train that was derailing, despite my best efforts at relaxation and meditation. For those who suffer chronic insomnia, they well know how bad the fear of another sleepless night and impaired daytime functioning can be; and it gets worse every subsequent night of poor sleep. I had initially messed around with this app a few days prior, but didn’t initially care for it.

Last night I was desperate, and it looked like it was going to be a second night of poor sleep. I was already three hours into my sleep window wide awake. Figuring I had nothing to lose (except sleep), I gave the app another shot.

Within five sleep trials, I rapidly started gaining confidence I could fall asleep again DESPITE THE CRUSHING ANXIETY! I followed the simple directions, and quickly realized I was falling asleep, even when I wasn’t aware of it. This is an absolute revelation for me. I’m only running on 3.5 hours to of sleep right now, but it already feels like a tremendous burden of anxiety has been taken off my shoulders. I can’t wait to use the app again tonight. It fees like I can give my anxiety the middle finger and fall asleep anyway!

A lifesaver!
I wish I could meet the creator of this app and give him a giant hug! This app has literally saved my life. I’ve had sleep issues for about 9 years on and off and swore I had insomnia. I just recently discovered that what I actually have is Paradoxical Insomnia. I recorded myself sleeping one night and was shocked to find out that I’ve been sleeping for several hours when I swore on my life that I was up for the entire night. The snoring confirmed this. 😄 After tons of research on this sleep disorder, I found Sleep On Cue. I cannot believe how quickly it’s helping me get my sleep cycle back to normal. I’m finally getting the REM sleep I need so desperately and I’m SO relieved I don’t have to take sleep aids or pay for a pricey visit to a sleep clinic. This $4.99 app is a Godsend. Wonderful tool for Intensive Sleep Retraining
I’ve been reading The Sleep Fix by Diane Macedo, which is an incredible resource to help sort out and solve various chronic sleep issues. Macedo recommended this app for people who want try treating chronic insomnia with CBT-I technique Intensive Sleep Retraining at home. The technique used to only be accessible to those who have access to a sleep center, so Sleep on Cue app is a game changer for the rest of us. Being able treat the root causes of insomnia rather than the symptoms is long overdue for me and I’m thankful for this app. Sleeping soundly and efficiently while free of chemical crutches seemed out of reach until I found the book and this app. I hope this review and this app help other sleep deprived people.

One-of a kind insomnia solution!
In the past, I’ve been hesitant about most apps that claim to help you sleep. At their best, they make me feel like I’m addressing the very frustrating experience of insomnia without actually doing much. At their worst, they’re a waste of money and actually lead to other bedtime dependencies.

Sleep On Cue is different. As long as you give it the time, it transforms falling asleep into any other habit… something you can do without even thinking about.

I hope other insomniacs will give this one a try. Hopefully it will change your ability to sleep like it changed mine!

Awesome app!
even after one night of using this app - doing abo it 5 trials - I felt a significant improvement in my confidence in falling asleep. That was a feeling I didn’t know I needed to regain, and that’s part of the beauty of this app. I recommend this to anyone having trouble sleeping 100%.

I sleep through the wake up
I think the app is a great concept however after a couple of sleep cycles, I will sleep through the wake o vibration and remain sleeping. It would be great if the app kept vibrating until the user acknowledged they were awake
