Description

**Stryd learns what kind of runner you are and adapts to your ever improving fitness to prescribe run training that is personalized and specific to your skill set. You receive sweet spot run training guidance that will train you to improve your performance and continually build on those gains for weeks, months, and even years at a time.

Through a combination of advanced sensor technology and an automated training ecosystem, you will be given your personalized & optimal training routine, stride-by-stride guidance during every run, and in-depth insights that help all runners, from beginners to Olympic champions, regularly push their running performance to the next level.

How to start with Stryd:

New to Stryd? This app requires the Stryd pod in order to use the app.
Already have Stryd? You can sign in with your Stryd account, pair your pod, and get started with the app.

Perfect Pacing During Every Run:

Stryd accounts for your speed, slope, run form, fatigue, and wind to deliver perfect, precise, and painless pacing. This is accomplished with the Stryd pod. The pod is filled with motion & environmental sensors that comprehensively determine your running effort in nearly every running condition. With this info, you can evenly pace every run, which means you get the performance enhancing benefits from each training session — without undue fatigue.

Sweet Spot Training Every Day:

Stryd learns who you are as a runner and then prescribes daily training that is personalized to your current fitness. Next, you can import these workouts on your sportswatch and receive stride-by-stride guidance so you run at the right performance-enhancing intensity from start to finish. You stay in the training sweet spot, where you are perfectly balancing stress and rest, so that you receive the maximal benefits from each session and continue to improve.

Automated Insights That Keep You Improving:

Stryd analyzes and compares your similar training sessions against each other to let you know how your fitness is trending. You will know how much your recent training is paying off if you are moving in the right direction. If there is an opportunity to do better, you can quickly identify if you need to update your routine so you can keep the improvements coming.

Continually Beat Your Race Times:

Stryd plans your perfect race for you. Stryd can account for the unique layout of your race course, the weather, the altitude, your skillset, and your overall fitness to prescribe a race plan that will ensure you perform at your peak capability. You will step up to the starting line with confidence knowing that you will run your best race possible.

-----

Note that, Stryd uses GPS in the background to track your running distance and pace, and continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life. Stryd also integrates with the Health app in order to get access to the heart rate data from Apple Watch.

Additionally, Stryd integrates with Apple Health. This allows Stryd to automatically update your weight, access your heart rate data, and save activity data to your Health app.

6 Months In
It took a few weeks to nail the calibration down. After calibrating, my Stryd was very accurate on measured trails. That alone is worth the purchase of the stryd pod.

I had never run with power before but was open minded to the change. The auto calculated power zones do seem to fit me. I have never been an even paced runner and this has helped me out a lot with being accurate and precise during easy/long runs and workouts.

I don’t use the iPhone app much. Only to name each run and to get them uploaded from my Apple Watch. I mostly use the web platform because it has more information available from each run.

The Apple Watch app is what I use as a display and it meets all my needs. I loved the Training Peaks workout download integration and used it extensively in the free trial. Since that ran out I just use the Stryd Apple Watch app. If I want to do workouts I’ll set the lap distance to what ever interval distance I want and set the power target to provide haptic response when I’m out of my power zone. Then I’ll use the manual lap function to begin a new interval after resting. The part that needs improvement is the audio feedback for the Apple Watch app. The chimes just aren’t that good.

Stryd support is fantastic. They push updates frequently to get the bugs out. Battery life is also a huge plus for the stryd pod.
Jj Woof,
Newer runner
When I was forced out of the office 13 months ago and told to work from home, I got the COVID crazies. I vowed to dedicate my former commute time to my own health. At first I couldn’t run a mile, so I just walked with a backpack. I added weight to the backpack as I lost weight. After I had lost 65 lbs and the backpack was getting heavy I started running. No plan no strategy, just sort Forest Gumped it. After getting stricken with the running bug I wanted an easy to use tool that told me how I was doing and planned out my runs for me without over exerting myself. A friend of mine told me all about his stryd pod so I thought I’d try it out. It took me a while to mentally transition from pace to power, but once I did the mileage started going up. If you told me a year ago That I could easily manage to run 60 MPW in a managed way that pushed my fitness further without injury I’d think you were crazy. I am now getting ready for my first full
Marathon and where prior to acquiring the stryd pod I stressed over strategy and pace, I now just let the pod tell me my strategy and I just need to execute on what it tells me I can do! Love it!
waterculture,
Good, could be great
Recording functionality on my XR is flaky at best—runs auto-cancel if the pod loses connectivity and don’t restart automatically, meaning I can’t trust this app as my only data source (I don’t have a Stryd compatible watch). Import functionality is great though and the metrics/analytics are very cool. This isn’t an issue for me anymore as I upgraded to a watch that can handle power so I just import from that source to the Stryd app.

Other problem I find is I can’t start a training plan. Just a nameless error that the app “couldn’t add the plan”
PBJSMCA,
Transformed this old man’s running
At 54, I needed a new approach to maintaining my zeal for middle-distance running beyond pace and HR Zones. Stryd’s power based approach has completely re-energized me. One number encompassing total output has optimized my training across short, long, interval, hill, and other runs. A fantastic Apple Watch app, iPhone app, and incredibly responsive customer service, make Stryd a must have for any runner. But wait... there’s more. Two weeks of battery life between charges! The new Stryd also takes wind resistance into account when running, whether the wind’s at your back or blowing into your face. Amazing and useful tech.
RoualFlush67,
Nice configurability, but Training Peaks integration needs work
Very reliable and tracks great metrics especially in PowerCenter. I would really like to use the TrainingPeaks integration, but the sounds integration is way too limited on the Apple Watch. You get quiet dings and haptic alerts, but no voice commands so it’s impossible to tell if you have finished an interval or are over or under a targeted power setting. You end up missing when a new lap starts and there is no way you can be looking at your watch constantly especially if running sprints. I would rate the app 5 stars if good audible feedback was provided. The app should have some settings to be able to define the types of sounds and when they occur.

Custom Workouts Locked Behind the Subscription
It seems that to create your own workouts, your have to pay for a subscription?

The subscription is understandable for ongoing services and workouts and plans provided by Stryd, but when you are doing the work yourself to plan your own workouts, it does not make sense to have to pay a monthly fee. Perhaps a one-time unlock fee for the software features, if you must, but everything is a subscription model these days, and the device is already expensive. Planning your own workouts should be a basic feature of the software and of using the device.

Without the ability to plan a simple run/walk workout out of the box, purchasing this device does not seem worth it.
Zip54,
Great product, great service, and great results for this totally blind runner
There is so many benefits to running with Power, and even more benefits for me, and getting accessible formats to many data points that will help guide my running. The Apple Watch application, using voiceover gives me everything I could hope to achieve, and when there have been accessibility challenges, the STRYD team has been very attentive and dedicated to making solutions. I cannot say enough good about all aspects of this product. Thank you STRYP.
Powerfibers,
Like Riding a Bike
I have been a runner since childhood, but have spent most of my adult training riding bikes. I always used power due to the lag of heart rate and the failure if it to take elevation, wind, and other factors into consideration. Training with power is the only way to ensure your training correctly on the bike a and why should rubbing be any different? Stryd works great for generating a power number to train to and makes treadmill running more accurate than ever. I’m enjoying in so much this winter than I have hardly touched the bike. Stryd is making me stronger by the week.
Xetnauq,
Apple Watch app - ?
There are some major issues with the Stryd Apple Watch app.

The whole point of Stryd is running with power as a guide, but without any audio prompts, it is very difficult to figure out what the Watch app is telling you.

But much worse, the app isn’t designed well to run as an Apple Watch app. If it goes into the background, even for a few seconds, it stops functioning. So that means you adjust or change anything else on the watch, switch your playlist or whatever, the app actually LOSES TIME and the time of your run is now wrong. I was wondering when I started Stryd THEN started ismoothrun and then switched to put Stryd in the foreground, and then stopped Stryd last, why the Stryd run log was minutes shorter in duration! Now I know.

And the Stryd app itself is not an uber-running app like ismoothrun is. It doesn’t do much with alerts or heart rate or nutrition or anything other than power.

The metrics are very nice. But please. Make stryd work when it runs in the background and give it audio cues!
gmbrady,
New Apple Watch app ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been a Stryd subscriber from the beginning - taking full advantage of the structured workouts and custom training plans. The new watch app has freed me from pre checking daily workouts on my mobile phone. I leave the phone behind and get out the door. The clean and clear watch interface (easy on the eyes) allows me to track progress and stay in the zone during workouts of varied interval lengths - from simple to complex workouts. Thank you!
