A second tap now inverts the selection and selects the squares outside the blocks. Version 1.39.1 is a patch update to version 1.39.0, with a fix for a small issue concerning the new inverted selection. This was not working correctly when an inverted selection was applied to a row with a single square between the blocks.

Added another way to play faster and more contextual information for Random Play puzzles. The changes in detail:
- Players will already be familiar with the technique of tapping a sum value to select the squares between two blocks. A second tap now inverts the selection and selects the squares outside the blocks. This makes it possible to apply updates to all the squares outside the blocks simultaneously, in the same way as it works for the squares between the blocks when these are selected together.
- In Random Play, the mode used to generate a puzzle is shown on the outcome page.

Perfectly challenging
Sumaddle is a great game for fans of number puzzles. I was looking for something that was a little more challenging than sudoku, and this game really delivers. I was more than happy to pay the couple dollars for the extra puzzle sets and the endless puzzle option, and it’s continued to keep me entertained for several months.
My only criticism is that I sometimes get penalized for “using help” even when I haven’t asked for a hint. It seems to happen when I am trying to remove a number from the possible options in a box, and I double tap the number. If I’m too slow, the game thinks I meant to put that number in, it tells me that the number is not a possible option for that row’s sum, and then I get docked points. It can be a bit of a killjoy when you’re proud of finishing a puzzle, and then you get the notification, “Your score would have been higher if you hadn’t used hints.”
Other than that, it’s still a 5-star game, and it will remain a staple on my phone.

Enjoyable and Helps You Build Your Logic Skills
One of the best aspects about this game is the hint function! Starting with just telling you whether everything on your board looks correct or if there appears to be an error somewhere (if so, you get the choice of just removing the wrong bits, restarting from scratch, or undoing some of your last moves and seeing if that fixes things), asking for more of a hint tells you what row or column to look at for your next move and shows you the possible combinations of numbers that equal the sum for that column or row, and asking for additional help pencils in the available options for each cell in that row or column, with the option to view an explanation of how you can come to such conclusions. The only downside is there is no option to selectively pencil in notes for yourself beyond whether something is a number or a block. Sometimes I can eliminate certain options for a cell myself, but without being able to selectively pencil in numbers, I can’t keep track of those unless I keep them in my head (difficult to do when I still see those eliminated options penciled in) or write them down on paper. Please add an option to shift between pencil/notes and pen/confirmed modes!

I’m updating the review to 5 stars as the developer reached out to me right away offering help. I checked everything, it’s now all good!!! I’m so relieved. I have reset all my puzzles (a few hundred of them as I purchased a lot), so that I can solve them again without losing points I wasn’t supposed to lose in the first place. Thank you!! Enjoying the game again :)

Interesting Twist of forced logic!
This game is an enjoyable challenge! It is an interesting twist on the usual forced logic games like pic-cross because it incorporates sums of integers between the required pair of “blocks” (cells without numbers) on each row/column. The logic is very achievable, and much less complex than advanced sudoku.
The game aids are pretty good. The instructions are well demonstrated, and the UI is kept clean, especially during play. There are some whimsical thematic graphics that add visual interest without getting in the way.
In fact, the only reason I didn’t go with 5 stars is that the block/number/clear cell buttons really should be below the grid and always displayed during play. Currently, they are on a button bar at the top of the screen and can be dismissed. I can’t come up with any reason they shouldn’t always be visible during play, and the top location is both inconvenient to tap and forces the player’s hand to cover the grid even more than is usual for grid logic games. Fix those issues, and this is an instant 5-star winner!

Well designed all around
I don’t think I’ve ever written an app review before, nor have I paid for a free puzzle game, but this one is so good I’m doing both.
The number puzzles themselves are good in the vein of ken ken, skyscrapers, or the like. What makes the app shine is how easy the interface is. Adding or removing possible values from a cell is super intuitive, and it automatically tracks possible values for a given cell, so you don’t have to do it yourself all tedious-like. And once every cell has only one possible value remaining (because you entered it or all other values are shown eliminated) you’re done! Again, a great way to avoid the tedium.

Excellent puzzle game and easy to operate.
This is really wonderful game/app. The concept of this puzzle is very simple but the difficulty can be very challenging. And the interface is quite simple to operate, all the functions are straightforward.
The best part is if you stuck while playing you can use the hint. absolute banger of a game
i have only positive things to say about this app. i love the puzzle concept. i love that it's more complicated than picross puzzles of the same size (like a 5x5 sumaddle is way harder than 5x5 picross) because it means i can do harder puzzles without the puzzles getting so small i can't see the numbers.
LOVE the hint function, i love that it's two steps. it's such a great idea to have the pre-hint point out a general area to look at (i tend to not see solutions that are right in front of my face so this feature helps me massively).
i, and i cannot stress this enough, LOVE that there are no ads. i don't think ive ever been actively pleased to pay for something in an app before, but i was smiling as i bought the $10 random generator.

Love it but needs more free content
I loved this, however I do think there needs to be a more in-depth tutorial, one where you are playing with the instructions rather than just reading the rules because it was quite difficult to understand the game.
I finished all the available puzzles in couple of hours, so I wish there was more free content even if it’s just a daily free puzzle. Also I would like to be able to see how the scoring works bc I don’t really understand.
Last thing, when I got to the trickier puzzles, I ended up just picking a number for some of them, and then seeing if the option to erase my mistakes appeared in the hint section (not using it, just seeing if It appeared) to figure out what the number is. Idk if that’s cheating but 🤷♀️

Legit new logic puzzle
I’ve played hundreds of logic puzzle varieties over the years and felt pretty good about my sense of logic. Man, this is a tough one, though! It forces me to think in new ways because of the different possibilities. In fact, I was half convinced the developer had increased the difficulty too quickly when I got stuck after just like 5-6 puzzles. After viewing their in-game tips, tho, I just realized there were some logical points I’d been missing...I applied them and was able to figure things out further. Still a pretty tough challenge, tho—great way to exercise my aging brain!!! :D

Harder to learn than it looks
Enjoying this. I would have appreciated a few more beginner complementary puzzles to really get the mechanics down. I see on another review the developer says more free puzzles have been added and now 100 free puzzles. I only count 30 all together in the sneaky, tricky, and ?? Categories. (I do wish those words weren’t so close in definition.)
However, At $.99 the packs are a good deal. I meant to buy sneaky but got clever, then meant to buy tricky and got cunning, or.. something like that… you see what I mean. Now I have plenty to learn from.
