We updated the app to improve the user experience and zapped some bugs. ‘Show/hide password’ icon is restored, allowing Surest app users to maintain password security. Subscribers weren’t seeing dependent claims after selecting a dependent by name. We’ve fixed this.
3.19.1
2023-10-10
We found a few bugs. We kicked them to the curb. In-app messages were being dismissed without taking members to a next step. We’ve fixed that so that in-app notices work as designed.
3.19.0
2023-10-04
We updated the app to improve the user experience and bounced some bugs. We fixed the timeout experience when a user’s session expires before they click on the Claims menu icon.
3.18.0
2023-09-13
We expanded subscriber access to dependent claims in the Claim section of the Surest app. This makes it easier for subscribers to manage healthcare spending. App users will start seeing two blue hearts indicating Premium Care Physicians (per UnitedHealthcare Premium program).

We updated the app to improve the user experience and kissed some bugs goodbye. We resolved the oops screen when a subscriber canceled a dependent’s activated coverage. And the error screen that shows if a member mis-enters the MFA code during registration. We fixed app crashes when viewing the digital ID card. The options to set and reset out of pocket spending filters are easier to use.

Surest members see a reminder to consider relevant virtual care when they’re navigating in the Surest app. The app promotes virtual providers when a reasonable alternative to in-person care. Communication preferences for dependent members are simpler for the dependent member-type.

We found some bugs and sent them packing. When we haven’t priced a provider, we don’t display a price on the map pin [remedying nonsense, but infrequent, 0$ price]. We fixed the spinner screen that happened when members tried to view National DME Suppliers.
3.16.0
2023-08-02
It’s easier than ever to find and choose the doctor that meets your preferences using the Surest app. Third-party patient reviews - including a five-star rating system - offer insight beyond price and location. You’ll see and can filter by rating when viewing a list of doctors. Read reviews for a specific doctor on the details page.

We updated the app to improve the user experience and zapped some bugs. Moving the Surest app to the background caused immediate logout. Now the app stays on the screen the user was last on. We adjusted how we present notifications when using the map to search for providers. Filtering the list of provider results using the search bar, and then clicking back button, won't reset the list results anymore.
3.15.0
2023-07-12
Searching for durable medical equipment is more straightforward than ever. App users see both rent and buy prices and can chose from a list of providers that sell medical equipment. They can view DME limits on the details page for coverage clarity.

We made minor changes to how we present all plan limits so Surest members have this detail with them when seeking care.

Surest routine quality control = bugs fixed. We cured a bug where app users with large text size couldn't see the button to confirm their communication preferences.
3.14.0
2023-06-21
We updated the login form so that you are able to use Apple Password Manager to autofill username and password.

We updated the app to improve the user experience and showed some bugs the exit. The change password screen no longer errors when you try to change your account password. Report feedback in-app by using ‘return’ button in on-screen keyboard.
3.13.0
2023-06-01
Services that “Members also used their Surest plan for” display as care options after a keyword search. This section highlights extra services members might receive on top of what they searched for. Thus preparing them for potential healthcare scenarios and the associated prices.

We found a few bugs. We kicked them to the curb. The Manage Coverage and purchase Confirmation screens, for Surest Flex members, again scroll as expected. We identified and fixed an ID card print layout issue.
3.12.0
2023-05-15
Members can use a digital form to submit other insurance information at the start of their plan year. The digital form presents in app after answering the ‘Have additional coverage?’ question. It's also available in Surest Plan > Plan resources > Coordination of Benefits. In the rare case that Surest doesn’t have a valid address on file, we will prompt a user to set their location when they open the app. Surest members who ‘Send us a message’ in app will see an optional Reference ID field; members with an open service request will have a Reference ID.
We updated the app to improve the user experience and kissed some bugs goodbye. We’ve fixed a misdirect occurring when a member searched for a practitioner by name. The claim filter now distinguishes between family members with the same first name. We’ve fixed the blank screen app users saw when attempting to change their password.
3.11.0
2023-04-21
We now prompt users to reset their location, using zip code or city + state, when their stored location is invalid. Check out the streamlined details page, where users see the price for their selected provider and encounter. Users can now expand and collapse out of pocket limit information.

We updated the app to improve the user experience and zapped some bugs. We fixed the bug that caused the app to error when registering for a Surest account. A bug that caused the same care option results for a second (or multiple) search in the same session is fixed. We repaired the session timeout modal that lets members extend their session before automatic logout. User-initiated logout has also been repaired. The app design for members with benefits through a 3rd party pharmacy benefits manager is uniform with other parts of the app. Some users saw a ‘Something Went Wrong’ error page if they tried to refresh their browser after purchasing a coverage. We’ve made a fix to ensure the browser reloads the confirmation page.

We found a bug. We showed it the door.
Users are again able to start a chat with Surest Member Services from the Contact us screen.
3.10.0
2023-03-29
We updated the pharmacy search experience to look and work like medical search. Look for covered equivalents and prior authorization requirements on plans with integrated pharmacy benefits.

We removed extra clicks when you start a search - so you can find care and take action with ease. Setting your location is streamlined adjust your location as you search for care and provider options. Your location is saved for your next search - whether that’s on the web or mobile app. The popular chat with Surest Member Services has new one-click buttons and a feedback survey. We updated the app to improve the user experience and bounced some bugs. The biometric login feature was keeping some users who access more than one Surest account from the same device from logging in. Now users can set biometric login to the account of their choosing. We improved sub-page navigation ease so users don’t have to return to the home page each time. The default map radius is removed - users can continue to filter based on their preferences. The out-of-pocket limit info tip is restored. A subscriber’s ability to activate coverage on a dependent’s behalf is live again.
3.9.1
2023-03-16
We updated the app to improve the user experience and zapped some bugs.

Users were seeing a white screen after completing the ‘Have additional coverage?’ step - they should have been directed back to the Surest app home screen. That’s fixed in this release.
3.9.0
2023-03-11
We improved the path users take through the Surest app when we don’t have enough information to return a curated provider set. Users have the option to search by name for practitioners/locations or by specialty to narrow the provider directory. This is useful to users who have a specific provider in mind. When they do, they'll flow to the details page with price, location, and scheduling information.

We updated the app to improve the user experience and kissed some bugs goodbye. Errors when registering for a Surest app account, viewing a digital ID card, and selecting ‘Forgot Password’ are resolved. The dead end that dependent members experienced when attempting to activate coverage in the Surest app is fixed.
3.8.0
2023-02-09
When you start a search, you’ll see common search options presented as one-click tiles. You can chose to edit your search location before searching or on a later screen. A change to search location is saved for the next time you use the mobile or web app.
When a user has elected paperless delivery and their email address is undeliverable, they will be prompted to confirm their email address or call to update.
We updated the Surest app to improve the user experience and zapped some bugs. Users with a specific set of accessibility settings saw a purple screen instead of the login form; we’ve fixed that. The app now allows a user to scroll the list of all providers after tapping on a map cluster. Users who tried to change their phone number landed on an out-of-date account page; they'll now land on the current account page.

We updated the app to improve the user experience and kissed some bugs goodbye.

Registered app users who haven’t logged in recently will be prompted to review and set their communication preferences. Beginning with app version 3.6.0, users have new communication preference options. Communication preferences can also be set from the account menu.

We fixed a bug that prevented users from navigating from an ‘Others felt better with’ tile to a list of providers.
3.7.0
2023-01-19
When you register for a Surest account, we prompt you to set your communication preferences. You set what emails you want Surest to send you and if you’d prefer paperless delivery of required communications. App users can adjust their preferences at any time from the Account screen.

To make the Surest app zip, we had to zap..a few bugs. We fixed instances where members saw an error screen or an ‘Oops’ message and shouldn’t be. Now, users who filter the provider list will see “No results found in your area. Try changing your location or modifying your filters.” if their filters are too restrictive. A few buttons now work as users would expect to navigate around the app.

You will see new features for specific answers to your cost and coverage questions. When starting a search, you’ll set your location and who you’re searching for upfront. When you land on the details page, after you’ve selected a care option and picked your provider, you’ll see plan limit information that you can use to track how you’ve used your Surest plan over the course of the year. As always, you’ll find clear upfront prices here too.

The Account screen has been reorganized into Personal info and Communication preferences menus. The Communication preferences menu gives you new options for how Surest communicates with you - including paperless delivery of required communications.

We also updated the app and zapped some bugs. We fixed issues with selecting a practitioner location when there are multiple and searching for a practitioner by name from the list view. We found and fixed a few unintended dead-ends and error messages that members had encountered.

When you change your zip code, the map now reliably moves with you. And, when you move your position on the map the zoom will adjust when you ‘Search this area’ if you are zoomed in or out too much.
You’ll be able to download claims from the Claims page again. Mobile version 3.4.0 users got a 'Document unreadable!' error.
We clarified the language we use to present alternative services that you might consider. You’ll see services ‘Others felt better with’ at Search page shopping and decision steps.

Ian947,
Stopped email links
I can’t even fully review the app as I had to delete it after one day because whenever I tried to open an internet link, for some reason Bind took priority and was opening instead of DuckDuckGo. It is a very strange problem and I’m not sure if it’s on Bind devs or Apple devs but I would like to redownload once the problem is fixed!
Windham the Widow Maker,
Useless app that is just a data grab
I seriously hate this app. I have had this insurance and app for 3 years. I actually save money - because I avoid going to the darn doctor because this whole insurance plan is so frustrating.

It’s great if you never need anything done - but good grief try to find a headache specialist on this app. Sure, you can find a neurologist - but you literally have to call every single neurologist listed to find one that specializes in headaches.

Or try to find a hand surgeon. Nope - it’s going to show you every orthopedic doctor. Spine surgeons, knee surgeons, etc. same thing, you have to call every doctor in the list to see if you can find a hand surgeon.

There are also numerous doctors that do not have phone numbers to even contact them at. That’s why I believe this is a useless app and is nothing more than a data grab. My insurance company has no reason at all to know my internet search history, access to my contacts stored in my phone, or any of the other information that they are taking anytime you pick up your phone. Deleting the app.
Peelage,
Dishonest about claim processing
The app itself is okay. The coverage is highly dishonest. They send emails saying telemedicine visits with included health or Doctor On Demand are free, approve the claim on date of service, then reject it 4 days later leaving you with a full bill like you’re uninsured. When you ‘have questions’ it says the claim should be covered in the app. Chat and calling is little help, they ultimately say ‘we can get a solution by escalating this to a supervisor, they’ll reach out shortly’. A few weeks later, no response. I called back, and they go: ‘oh, this wasn’t fixed yet?’

Typical experience with UHC: deny claims and send you down an endless rabbit hole to nowhere until you pay for a claim that they advertise as covered with no patient responsibility. Shocker.
kgr517,
Nevermind transparency, get price certainty!
So I have been using the Bind app for a couple of years. I don’t think I can ever go back to the price uncertainty of other plans. What you see before a visit is what you get billed after! No surprises. Thank you!!! I also like that I can see options and how to save money if I go somewhere else. Please integrate pharmacy info. I know it is not fair to expect my drug plan to be as cool as this, but it sure would be nice.
WhyDoINeedAUniqueNicName,
Unable to actually find doctor
The app generates a long list of available providers for the specialty I need. No numbers listed, no way to contact them. Tried to look them up online, no results for any of them. Called the helpline and they searched the internet along with me to find their contact info…. The helpline provided me with a short list that they found a contact for using some kind of internal directory they had access to. Not taking new patients… how am I supposed to find a provider?

Reading through other reviews on here many of the 5 star reviews really read like bot posts. That’s very concerning.
mammothmush,
Confidence shaken in the Surest plan.
The app looks appealing and would provide a great UX if it had accurate information. All but two GPs listed in my area don’t have a phone number and a quick google search shows they don’t exist. Some even have a PO Box as their physical address. The default provider when I search has a phone number, is real, lowest premium listed, quality care heart and everything, but isn’t taking new patients and hasn’t in years. By the time I finally do get to a GP that’s real and willing to see me, after a frustrating amount of searching, it’s 3x the price.
Valpo Mike 1972,
All copays
I transitioned from a High deductible health savings account (HSA) almost three years ago. It was the best decision for our family. Our out of pockets costs went down almost 90%. The App works great and even worked for a virtual visit for our daughter studying in Italy last year.
disgruntledparent92,
Horrible
Awful app. The ui is clunky, performance is laggy, and 9/10 “providers” information listed is inaccurate / outdated. You have to cross reference each person on google to find the actual information, and most of the time you can’t find said person. Other providers are listed without any sort of contact information, with no way to reach out and nothing on google. The fact that this app is allowed to exist in this state is an absolute crime.
Scott Arly,
Worst Search in History
Looking for a mental health provider, and I specifically want someone who does EMDR. That’s not a specialty option, and they show you next to nothing about each individual physician, so I have no idea what services they offer. I have to look up each physician outside of the system, and if I find someone outside of the system, they likely aren’t covered by insurance. It shouldn’t be this hard to find care, and the folks who made this app should do better.
DanOsVa,
Terrible app
Probably the worse health insurance app I have encountered. It only provides a list of providers that are in-network but that’s all, no contact number or option to schedule through the app. Reached out via chat for assistance and was advised to google the provider and his/her contact info for me to schedule an appointment. Not the most convenient app. The addresses provided for each doctor doesn’t seem to be accurate according to the ones google shows.
