TachyMon was created by the developer for his niece Alex, who was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) in the fall of 2021. POTS seems to be an increasingly common diagnosis, especially for young women. People with POTS often experience fatigue, brain fog, rapid heart rate increases and other symptoms. Alex was experiencing frequent fainting (syncope) and we noticed the fainting occurred when her heart rate increased rapidly, or when her heart rate reached a certain absolute threshold (150 BPM in her case). Alex finds that the TachyMon alerts help her to sit or crouch down when her heart rate is elevated, and this helps her to avoid fainting, and to feel a bit more in control of her POTS.

It is a simple, but specialized app, and we hope it may help others with POTS, or people in other situations when it may be useful to monitor heart rate changes.

APPLE HEALTH
TachyMon integrates with the Apple Health app. TachyMon stores workout information (including heart rate) with the Apple Health app.

WARNING: It is important to consult with medical professionals if you are concerned about your health. The TachyMon app is intended for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for specialized medical care.

Peri859,
AMAZING APP FOR POTS…but
I’ve tried so many apps to try to become more physically active and able to help me navigate through this awful POTS & dysautonomia journey - 24/7 monitoring and alerting, so I can better prevent syncope episodes. THIS APP IS PERFECT in that regard!! I’m a healthcare professional with this condition and desperately wish any and all data could be saved as a report or even logged in any way. This would be amazing for my patients but I wouldn’t be able to see any recordings :( I also don’t understand why there is not a phone app and can only be downloaded on the Apple Watch (tiny screen). Secondly, the app is lacking in education 100%. Understanding POTS given the data from this app would be an immense help for the POTS community. Scientific explanations for the given data would be an impeccable addition to this app. All in all, big thanks to the app team as this is a huge help for us POTS sufferers. I do hope you take these suggestions into consideration. Y’all rock 💙
TreishaAbigale,
This app has saved my life!!!
Previous review: So far I love it. I love that it has a continuous alarm and how loud it is. I love the simplicity and not over crowded with crap but I wish the screen text was smaller just a bit. When my average hits triple digits it cuts the text out. I also wish you could choose what alarms you want. I love the high and low and how you can set two alarms for each but I have no use for the average high and low alarms. I also wish it gave a feature where it would text a loved one when in the danger zone. Again love it, just would like to see a few additions.

Update: since the previous review my condition has gotten worse and this app has literally saved my life multiple times. I still wish the text would be smaller so when my average hits triple digits it could be seen and not cut off, but this app has been a life saver and I’m beyond greatful to the creator!!! I use all the alarms now and anyone around me knows what is going on with me just by the heart alarm sound without a second thought. Thanks again!!
ItzGravyTime,
Good but needs some improvements
I have POTS and this has been helpful quite a bit. However, Iva had it for about a day and I’ve noticed some issues with the average heart rate over/under feature. High heart rate for too long (which, as everyone with bad POTS knows, can happen a lot and not always in a place where you can get it down quickly) makes the average skyrocket, so when my heart rate calms down a bit, I’m now getting notified that I’m too low from the average, when actually it’s around 70-90 which is good and normal. I’m assuming this will kind of even out over time, but there should be a way to turn off average notifications because I don’t really care about going too high or low based on an average, I’d prefer just to go off the heart rate thresholds. Basically I think there should be more customization available.
what be all this noise,
This watch app literally saved my life
And it is also the reason doctors/urgent cares/ERs actually take me seriously now and after 4 years I was finally diagnosed with POTS. I’ve compared my HR/orthostatics on the app to every machine in every doctor’s office I have gone to since putting Tachymon on my Watch, and it is always within 5-7 bpm (+/-) of whatever their machine says. They are always so impressed, and excited. My brother is also a doctor, and he was so happy to find out there is actually an accessible and accurate way to help people. Tachymon is the reason I have been able to return to grad school in person part time, because it gave me enough documentation to get accommodations, and it has helped me regulate my heart much better by training me when to sit down, how to walk slower, how to sit up and stand up slower, when I need to take breaks versus when I am okay to keep walking, etc.

Amazing POTS app
I am amazed by some of these reviews. I’ve only used it for 2 days and have already been able to gather super important data that can help my doctors. The creator was kind enough to make a free app and this is the only thing I’ve found that can do the job unless you want to buy another device all together or wear a monitor. Of course there would be helpful things to accompany it but the developer said they’re working on that and again, I’m just grateful there’s even an app in existence. I’ve already recommended it to POTS friends and they’ve found it super helpful. It could also be very helpful for people with anxiety and stress and I’m sure certain heart conditions. Dear developer-I saw you left your email on another review so I wrote with some ideas for the phone app but again thank you for creating this great tool !
M1ndBlown,
Best Monitoring App I’ve Tried
I have tried many heart rate monitors and none are as customizable as TachyMon. I love that I can set it and forget it so that it tracks for as long as I need it too, and I have mine set to vibrate when my heart rate gets too high or too low.

It integrates with my Apple Watch so easily that I can keep it as a widget on my home face. The information does not sync to the Health app as easily as I would like, but the partner app for IPhone makes up for that so I can track my rates and share my data with my doctor.

The only improvement would be to be able to detect a fall and send a text message to an emergency contact. Apple Watch offers the fall detection feature but it only contacts EMS and there isn’t really anything they can do for me so I would prefer to contact a family member
Broken79,
Great except workout data…
Just wanted to let you know that in the settings when you select to record workout data, it totally screws up your activity tracker. It showed me having done 7,000% of my activity goals. Each second it would go up another percent. I had to turn that part off. I mean, I don’t mind it looking like I ran a marathon but when I only took 800 steps that day, no one’s going to believe it! Lol! One other thing is that it would be nice if you could set it to track only and not alert. I know you can turn off alerts but only a few minutes at a time. I’d like an option to turn off alerts until I turn them back on. Otherwise I really love the app! Thank you so much for this. There’s not a lot out there for us potsies so something like this is wonderful!

Text alerts
I absolutely love this app. ONE thing i could suggest is being able to send a text alert to one or two emergency contacts that we can choose, if we get to a certain HR for a certain period of time. I only found one app to do that and unfortunately that app did not allow you to choose your HR to notify at, it was adjusted off your age and was high like 160s. But for someone with POTS we need it adjustable so we can set it to whatever we need. Some people pass out well before 160s. as for me i get into 200s and i’m not always able to really get help so having that fester for my watch to automatically send an alert to my emergency contact after i reach certain HR for a certain period of time would be extremely helpful AND make me feel so much safer.

Almost Perfect Tool for POTS!
I am really enjoying this app so far, it’s keeping me in-touch with my symptoms and making me more mindful. The only thing I wish was different is the comparison of current heart rate to your “recent average.” When I’ve been standing or moving for more than a few minutes, my recent average increases, making the difference between the two data points smaller and it stops alerting after a while. I wish the average could pull from the resting heart rate data collected in the watch’s heart rate app. This would be a much better and more consistent baseline to compare with current data.

Other than that, this has been very helpful and I am looking forward to using it to become more familiar with my POTS.
KayStarr44,
A blessing
I wish I could personally thank the developer of this app. It’s so wholesome that he developed it for his niece with POTS but also kind enough to share it with everyone and doesn’t even charge to use it! I’ve had it less than 24 hours and already have been alerted twice that my heart rate was too high, in which I sat down, elevated my legs, and did what I needed to do to bring it back down. POTS is new to me, I didn’t learn until recently why I’m always passing out or having many other issues. This app allows me to be alerted before it gets to the point where I realize “oh, I’m not ok” and take care of it before the problem starts. Thank you so much for this app!
