KarinBlain,
I’m so addicted to this zombie competitive fun!!
I participated in my first two challenges through work. Everyone may think “getting steps is easy or boring” but the competitive play aspect, the creative additions of fighting through obstacles and the running from hordes of zombies that The Outbreak Challenge provides makes getting some fitness in your life FUN! I’ve made new friends and strategized w team members, set goals, met goals, and enjoyed the heck out of this app!! When the challenges ended at work I missed it so much I started my own Outbreak Challenge getting neighbors, family, and even our kids 11 and up involved! Everyone LOVED it and we are planning to do another! I love watching all the participant stats and seeing who is breezing by me or who needs an extra “you can do it!” on the comment board. I think this app is incredibly worth it, well done, and comes w very responsive support for any game questions. Best app I’ve added to my phone in 5 years... it’s absolutely worth checking out.
Eric the Redfly,
Good way to get some much needed exercise
Our company organized this 4 weeks long event, and we are current in the second week. Great fun, but tired for someone who doesn’t really exercise. But this is a team event, so everyone is doing their best to not drag their team behind. I have never done so much walking consistently for this long, I know this is good for me and I am sure by the end of this game, I can establish a habit of routine walking exercise. One comment though, the game rank teams that are approximately at the same area the same ranking place (eg 4 teams sharing 2nd place), but doesn’t order them on the ranking chart according to each teams actual performance, which is very annoying. That is even sharing 2nd place, team with higher steps may be placed lower on the list than other teams with lower steps. Also when taping through “today” “this challenge” “this mission” the ranking order does not reflect the actual but highly depending on points already accumulated. Please consider making improvements on this. Thanks
wjapebiwnsbdi,
Great for Team-Building
Our company purchased a year subscription and, while a bit pricey for an SMB, it was money well spent. We had some trouble getting participation beyond 30% company-wise after the first challenge, but those that joined the first challenge and second challenge mostly participated throughout the year of challenges and mini challenges.

It was really fun for that core team of participants and the FIX support team was great about sending over resources to boost participation. They even provide you will marketing collateral to distribute and tell you when to send out what to maximize awareness and participation. If our participation was better and we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, we would definitely renew.

Not only was it great for employee engagement at our company, but it inspired some really amazing lifestyle changes for several individuals in our company and reinforced existing healthy habits for others.
hearherelizabeth,
Our group can’t get enough!
I have a group of friends playing Outbreak together. We’re currently on our third Outbreak challenge. It is impossible to communicate how motivating this game is, so I’ll tell you about my results instead. When we first started, I was getting around 3,000 steps a day. Now an “off” day for me is 12k steps, and I typically bet between 18k and 22k steps. In the past two months I’ve also been able to lose about 5% of my body weight. The app is not always as quick to sync up with Fitbits as my team would like, but it does eventually work. Also, when we’ve had questions, customer service has been helpful. I definitelt recommend this app and the challenge itself.
Dj Gravity X,
Great! Only missing one thing.
Our company has been doing team building/health building activities with this app/company for a while. Over the time they have made many important improvements to the game . There is still one thing missing, something to accomplish once the team reaches the warehouse. Whether it’s building a bunker to stay safe or building a vehicle to make an escape or whatever it is. It’s a little disappointing to work your tail off for a day or two or three and make it to the warehouse and then... nothing. Just wait till the next week.

Yes you still have team step goals for extra points and such, but what’s the motivation beyond that? What’s the point of beating the previous day’s step goal to get more punches that serve no purpose at all?

Plug that gap with activities in the safe house/bunker to complete, perhaps for an extra point, and that would require the use of both steps and punches... and then you get a solid 5.

App works with all the primary fitness apps/devices and high has been a huge benefit and a cost saver to companies and their employees who wish to participate.
Everyscreennameistaken,
Got me moving!
Shame to see so many people rating this poorly because they’re unhappy that their colleagues are cheaters... that’s not the developers’ fault.

Personally, I had a lot of fun with this! Definitely got me thinking more about moving, especially after work when I’d see that we have another couple thousand steps to meet our team goal for the day. Liked the step bank that lets you roll over steps you accumulate until you “spend” them, but wish there was a clearer way to keep track of what steps were synced from what day.

Overall really great experience. When it ended I felt like something was “missing” in my day. Hope my company does this again soon!
Jacksonjack12345678910,
Excellent Program and challenge!
I really enjoyed this challenge and the full program. The story was fun and engaging (although lacking a little bit towards the end) and the daily notifications and push notifications kept me engaged at just the right level. I used this challenge with my employees and received TONS of positive feedback!
The only reason I gave this a 4 star and not 5 star review is because I would like to see additional types of challenges, not just zombie themed challenges. The employees that participated in this were really engaged and enjoyed the theme, but I don’t want to limit our step challenges to JUST zombie challenges... :(
Smilingator,
Great idea but has serious flaw
This app definitely motivated me to get up each morning and meet my daily goal. However, having a small team has a huge disadvantage. Once we get to an obstacle, we can’t log any more steps to earn more power to defeat the obstacle. So we get stuck and then lose health. I don’t want to buy a $100 watch so it can track “workouts” so the only way I earn power is from daily goals. Why not make the size of the obstacle proportional to the size of the team? Or allow us to convert “steps” into “power”? I’ve read other reviews and multiple people are running into this discouraging problem.
Poohstie,
Good but needing more
This is my second time playing one of these challenges and it’s fun, but it needs more past the point of the Safehouse. People tend to put in a lot of effort for 2-3 days to make the Safehouse, but once they reach it their numbers tank for the rest of the week. There should be something that should motivate people throughout the week besides just the daily goal (which isn’t that difficult to get). Maybe have some extra side challenges inside the Safehouse people can compete for to gain extra victory points or something. That’s been my main constant gripe with this challenge.
jst.reader,
Worked for 5 days, then....
This worked perfectly fine for 5 days. It synced my steps and my team was advancing with my help. On day 6 it worked for about 3 hours then logged me out for some reason. I tried logging back in but now it doesn’t recognize my password. Tried many, many times with slightly different passwords then tried using the “forgot password” link. It recognized my email, so I know I’m in the system (I hope) however it’s been 8 hours and at least 12 times of clicking that link and I have not received the email to reset my password. I’ve also emailed support 3 times and no response. I suppose their IT and their password support only works 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. :-(
