Enjoying learning
I have some music background but have never picked up a violin until I started with Tonestro. I like to learn with accuracy, and the app picks up easily whether the tones I play are too low or too high so that I'm practicing in tune with the proper finger positions. It’s never boring as there are so many melodies and songs to play with or without accompaniment, as well as options to slow or increase the pace of each piece of music. Reached out with a question at one point and promptly received a response. Best music program online that I’ve ever used!

Good, but needs improvement
I’ve been playing for awhile and I can say I have improved with this app. The biggest issues I’ve been having is when playing for score in lessons, the music stopping to wait for you to play right on time is unrealistic and robotic, and does not help with improvement. I either have to play the string early to avoid this or just live with it stopping every note. Both make the music sound horrible. I play much better with the listening option. If there was a way to turn this off and have the music play without stopping to wait it would be great. My second issue is not having a way to turn off the letters in the notes. It’s not helpful after awhile and inhibits memorization. I would rate five but these two issues are just too prevalent to ignore and interfere with the primary function of the app, which is to educate effectively in playing violin.

I don’t think it’s good enough for me to pay money
I know you have to make money somehow and I don’t have anything against it, but I can’t get premium because my family won’t let me in all I wanna do is play the violin I wanted to since I was four when I got my violin but I wasn’t able to but I guess I’ll just have to wait until something else comes out Thank you for your time.

Decent app but....
When i was done doing the first lesson, then i went to the challenges of songs that you can do but before i did that, i checked my violin strings if they were in tune and it said it was in tune so i did the song but it said i was playing the wrong notes and it also said it was out of tune even though i played the right open string. I tried doing the song again but when i did it, it said on the E note that it was wrong even though it was in the right place (The note was red and it was in the right place on the music staff).

I have been using Tonestro for a couple of months now and I find it to be very helpful. The instructional videos are concise and extremely informative. The app offers a lot of practice, which has significantly improved my skill level. Overall, I would recommend this app to anyone who doesn't have the time to get inperson lessons and wants to learn how to play the violin at their own pace.

As a starter, playing the violin for the first time, I have no idea how to play at all! However this app I found for free helped me so much, as i play more on this app I seem to expand my skills and more, this app truely helps, its easy to follow and easy to use, wich means it is very beginner friendly, I feel as if even more skilled players would enjoy checking out the app as well!

I really like the app and I realize that you have to make a living somehow but I would like to be able to play without having to pay. My parents won’t let me and I really was excited when I found the app but after the first lesson I had to play. I was really disappointed with it. I think that the premium should just be better features and songs not the whole lesson. Please find a way to fix this. Thank you.

Extremely buggy
I paid $149 for a year of violin training. Bugs started almost immedietly but I contacted support. They ignored the problems so I tried to work around it. Then the app randomly logged me out and said my email wasn’t associated with any account. Wanted me to pay $149 to access the training I had already paid for. I contacted support 2 more times trying to get help. No response. Zero. I’ll be requesting a refund and recommend you to jig waste your money on this app. There are 10+ other violin apps. I’ll be trying one of those.

I really do not like the note names
When I started, I thought having the note letters by each note was a good idea. But, I’ve come to think of them as a crutch and would shut them off. If I could. If I knew my music theory cold, this wouldn’t be an issue, but that doesn’t describe me. I’ve sent emails to the maker asking if they can change this in the sw. Maybe make it switchable, but so far I’ve had no response. If I hear back from them, I’ll amend this review. Depending on what they say.
