Description

Steal alien powers and absorb their memories! Can you outlast your opponents to escape from planet Versus?

"VERSUS: The Lost Ones" is a thrilling 123,000-word interactive novel, the first in a new series, by Zachary Sergi, author of our best-selling "Heroes Rise" trilogy. Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Become an interstellar warrior, gifted with the power to ransack the thoughts and abilities of others. Transported to an unfamiliar world beyond your wildest dreams, you must invade the minds of your fellow captives to survive.

Seduce Lady Venuma, a self-proclaimed goddess, or clash with Empress Vaccus, a tusked monster and the sworn enemy of your home world. Triumph in gladiatorial combat, or in the deadly politics of planet Versus. Absorb the right talents, and you just might save the galaxy!

• Fight for humans or androids in a morally ambiguous civil war
• Play as male, female, transgender, intersex, or a non-categorizable gender identity
• Subvert the corrupt Elite Courte, or join them to suppress rebellion
• Romance aliens, crossbreeds, and intergalactic royalty, or go it alone--the choice is yours
• Dive into a sci-fi hybrid of space operas, futuristic dystopias, fantasy epics, and political chess

Kendricklikesgames,
Amazing Game. Worth every cent!
I don't review apps often...like ever. This game though, is so satisfying good. I feel as if I don't review it it'll be a disservice to the author lol. The story is engaging and entertaining to the very end(the story's not over tho). Choices you make in this game DO matter! You feel the consequences of your decisions and its oh so gratifying. The characters are unique and each have their own personality. Your moral views are tested and pressured through the experience. Which might not be to somes taste. Though, I find it alluring.
Purchase this game! It is so so so so so worth it. Excellent experience! 10/10

One of the best
I love these text adventures and I've played most of them. This one stands right at the top, alongside The Lost Heir, Heroes Rise, Sabres of Infinity and Zombie Exodus. Versus might be my favorite - I wish the sequel were already out. The writing is excellent, the setting creative, and the choices one makes drastically impact the story. The diverse powers and motivations available to your character guarantee you will want to play through many times. Definitely worth your investment - you need to check this one out !
Skiatha,
I like weird, but...
This was just too weird for me. But I guess if you like absolutely no character development, a sidekick who’s in a coma for basically the entire book, and frequent random teleportations that make you wonder if the protag is just hopped up on drugs the whole time, then read on. But be warned- the basic plot is you getting dropped off on some random bloody planet and being confused the whole. freaking. time.
No actual progress further than that, and the parts with some action have no real risks. There’s just more backstory than I would care to swallow, and I felt myself skipping paragraphs upon paragraphs of some random planet’s history or whatever.
Probably not going to buy the next book.
Vanecce,
I couldn't get into it
For a CoG game, it was good, I suppose. However, I kept getting headaches when trying to read it. There are a lot of made up words. So much so that I had trouble actually getting into the story. Many words could have been substituted with their normal counterparts. I understand there are many people who greatly enjoyed this game, but I honestly couldn't get into it. Why I ended up giving four stars instead of just three was because there were parts I enjoyed and the choices that were offered were entertaining.
Alee K.,
Brilliant!!
I loved it. It had my attention for hours straight before I realized that it was a book I was reading (and even had a part in writing) and not just a game. I also deeply appreciated the author's consideration to be so inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations. I've been binging on tons of Choice of Games' works for several days, but VERSUS #1 is by far my favorite interactive read so far. Can't wait for The Elite Trials! ❤️
bkdrake7,
AMAZING sci-if/fantasy game!!
I’m a huge fan of interactive novels and games, but I find most of them to lack either compelling writing or reader choices that can actually change the plot and outcome. This game lacks neither, and is easily worth its price!! I’m writing this in the hope that CoG releases many more Versus installments because I’m not ready to walk away from this story :)
soundfanatic,
Engaging & Brilliant!
A diverse and inclusive cast of characters make this story a rich and engaging game! Morality and belief systems are also challenged, giving this game a unique voice that sets it apart from previous series by the same author.

The replay value for this game is great! I love going back and making different characters and new choices.

Keep up the good work, Zachary!
Deathkillerlord,
AMAZING!!
I thought about getting the game for a while before getting it, but when I got it it was a-ma-ing! I 95% Recommended, it has awesome story telling, great characters, feels like a real book, and it is not too random on teleporting like the other reviews say. The *random* teleporting has a reason.

Have a good day!
Kramy pants,
Complete waste of money
The whole first book was JUST WORLDBUILDING. There was nothing for you to do besides determine your characters values such as genuine or not. You are not included in much action at all in the whole story and in the end, this should’ve been free to play if the author really wanted to make it as a pilot episode type book. Haven’t played the rest of the books so if you don’t plan on completing the series, don’t buy.
Yay fun !,
Masterful
Honestly one of the best Choice of games due to the fact that it's so diverse in the choices and different ways of forming who you want to be. Truly awesome and one of a kind experience. I also really like the reference to Millennium if that's what it was meant to be :)! Truly awesome and well worth it.
