New Game! Heroes of Myth!

Everyone thinks you saved the world three years ago. It was all a lie. The truth is, the "dark lord" you and your friends supposedly slew never existed; you used magical illusions to fake a prophecy. But now, as you relax into a life of fame and luxury, the omens from your false prophecy are happening again, and this time, you had nothing to do with it.

"Heroes of Myth" is a 560,000-word interactive novel by Abigail C. Trevor, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Naturally, everyone expects you to save the world again, but you're just an illusionist, and your friends have scattered to the winds. Will you become the hero all the songs say you are, or find new ways to fool them all again? How far will you go to protect your friends' secrets--or are there stronger alliances to be made by betraying their trust?

This is the trouble with pretending you're a hero: occasionally you have to become one. Craft clever illusions, charm suspicious royals, and face shadowy demons from beyond your realm. In the end, is the story you told worth more to you, or to the legions of people who believed it?

• Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight or bisexual; monogamous or poly; asexual, and/or aromantic
• Intercept messages, stage scandals, and guide your preferred ruler to the throne
• Romance a prince, a bard, a long-lost friend, a false prophet, or a visitor from realms beyond
• Defend castles, villages, and your own mind from demonic assault
• Help your friends protect their positions, or sacrifice them in the name of the truth
• Triumph in a tournament of the greatest mages from across the land
• Slay a centuries-old monster—or swear yourself to his cause

Are you a hero, a liar, or both?

New Game! Exile of the Gods!

In the great war between the gods, will you wield the chains of destiny, or shatter them forever?

"Exile of the Gods" is a 460,000 word interactive epic fantasy novel by Jonathan Valuckas, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Our story begins twenty years after the action of the first game, 2015's "Champion of the Gods". Which ending did you get? Start this game as the Champion, a warrior born to serve the gods, and follow the holy destiny the Weavers have crafted for you. Or start this game as the Exile, enemy of the gods, and forge a new life for yourself in the faraway land of Khovros--where mortals are free to choose their own fates.

Champion and Exile alike must unravel a deadly conspiracy, and confront the brewing war upon their gods. Will you vanquish this invading force, or use its power to free your realm from its ruthless creators forever? Take revenge on the gods who exiled you, or steal this chance to prove your worth to the pantheon, and seize your destiny of glory?

The gods made you what you are. Now, you will show them what you are made of.

• Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, bi, or ace
• Take the role of your realm's beloved savior, or that of a vengeful warrior living in exile
• Explore a world inspired by the myths of Ancient Greece
• Fight land and sea battles inspired by the military campaigns of antiquity
• Unravel a divine conspiracy that spans two realms, complete with shocking twists
• Use the power of Inspiration to endow your companions with unearthly prowess, or wield Rapture to stun your enemies with bliss
• Move the hearts of your foes with your sincerity, or harness the power of deception to spin a lie that suits your fancy
• Play the game in standalone mode, or import your skills and backstory from "Champion of the Gods" to unlock new storylines--and a terrifying bonus power
• Confront golems, fire-wielding mystics, and the armies of the dead
• Receive a horoscope for your character, based on their virtues and humors

Elusnary,
Thank you I love this app
I really like the products this app gives you. You get to read two or three chapters for free for any book that is released to see if your going to like the book and mechanics the authors made; this is immensely helpful in choosing purchases and knowing you are going to enjoy them. There are lots of genres and even author categories (they are pretty good authors) to help you in your search of picking your favorite book/games out of the bunch. There even a free section, while most book will make you watch an ad to read still there’s are a bunch of free books to enjoy. For beginners you should probably start with something to learn the mechanics like choice of dragon I also liked choice of the Vampire at first and both are free to play. Give the ap a try it’s frustration free and full of enjoyment. But befor you make a purchase do make an account just in case something happens.

My suggestion would be let us write reviews or give a link so we can support our favorite creators in making us our beloved content through the app for people that don’t have social media. It would be nice to express our excitement and appreciation to some of the incredible authors that use this forum as a medium to give us there creations. Their are probably places out of this app to find them but I don’t know where to look.
Quack McDuck,
Good app but suggestions
I love the variety of stories and that they have free trials. Always loved the books from this company so I am glad to play even more! However, I would like it if there was a save/load feature. I think that after you play through a story once normally, you should unlock a save/load feature to save and load the game at any point. It is annoying to have to restart the whole story every time I choose the wrong thing when I am trying to get achievements. Or instead of a save/load feature, maybe I could choose to go back to the beginning of the chapter or the last chapter or something.

Also I wish we could leave/read reviews for individual books. I would like to tell the creator of Social Services of the Doomed that I wished we could have an option, when asked, to say that we like men & nonbinary people. (And women & nonbinary people obviously but that’s not my choice) Right now I would have to say I like only men, only nonbinary people, or any gender. So yeah, being able to review individual books within the app would be a good addition!
Bamagyrl93,
Love the One App
So, I have played a good bit of Choice and Hosted (their other brand) games. I actually don’t mind the one app because I prefer a centralized location to access all the games I had. I play a lot of RPGs on the console, and I read in my spare time so I love the combination when I need something casual and in between. Plus, many of them are not as kiddie as similar games in the app store. There is also a nice mix of genres.

You can preview the game before you buy, and if you are signed up for their mailing list or notifications, you learn when new ones drop. New stories are usually discounted for a week or so. There are also a few free stories mixed in there.

I enjoy, through their combined brands, many of the series. I replay a good bit of the stories. There are other on my list to eventually. I have just been wary of a few. Off the top of my head, (some of these might be the Hosted Choices app as well); I like Way Haven Chronicles, Choices of a Mobster, Samurai of Hyuga Series, Hero Rises Series, Blood Money, Versus Series, Tin Star, Choice of Rebel, etc. I recommend the overall app to people who like to read or enjoy RPGs.
mikoikochestersonjack,
Great app, but ads feel redundant
I love this game, and I understand the ads bring in needed revenue, but since the last time I played, there seem to be more ads than before. This is because, when I finish a chapter of a story, there is a 2 hour timer to play more. I close the story and wait, and when I come back, I have to play an ad to open the story again. Then, once the story is open, I have to watch ANOTHER ad to open the next chapter. Two in a row feels redundant. If they were just when I opened the story or between chapters I’d understand, although having them when I open a story is annoying if I accidentally click out of a story and have to watch an ad to go back into it. Lastly, one of the ads that played was horrible and disturbing, depicting a cartoon woman cornered in an alleyway and the legs of the man cornering her as he dropped his pants. It then showed the woman pregnant. It’s clear that was one of those cheap games that uses shock value to peddle their puzzle game and doesn’t actually have that content in it (I looked at the reviews for THAT app) but I wish y’all could perhaps screen the kind of ads you show, or perhaps report one, as there was no way to do that.
Ano1073,
Asteroid run!
Not sure if this is where we review individual games, but I can’t find anywhere else. We can give it a 1-10 in the app but no written review.

This game was wonderful! I usually find CoG to be too stat focused for my liking but the checks were easy enough that I didn’t have to worry about them much and could focus on the story. The power plays with the different factions in deep space were complex and challenging and it didn’t feel like the game was pushing me towards a “good” choice over a “bad” one. I also liked the couple of twists with some of our crew later on. I romanced Eira and [spoilers] was incredibly pleasantly surprised to find she’s demiromantic, which is something I’ve never seen before!

My only suggestions for improvement would be a bit longer of an epilogue, as the ending felt a bit abrupt, and that a lot of the dialogue scenes were abbreviated instead of letting us read the actual exchanges (which I don’t really blame the author for as I’ve seen this in a number of CoG to the point where I think it’s part of their rules for publishing). Anyway I loved this! Well done!
Ratlas6,
So much fun.
I’ve had a few short brushes with interactive fiction that I thoroughly enjoyed, but this app has enabled a full-blown habit. Something about interactive novels is so addicting— maybe because they’re like video games and books all in one?
The app itself is easy to use, though buyers beware: many of the stories you might find appealing cost money. There are numerous free games (the advertisements aren’t obnoxious like on other apps, either) but even the in-app purchases don’t cost more than $6.99 from what I’ve seen (think of how much a regular book from Barnes & Noble costs compared to that!). It’s especially worth it seeing as it works even with no connection; it’s really great on long road trips, I’ve found. I haven’t encountered glitches yet.
Ultimate guilt-free entertainment— reading makes you smarter, doesn’t it? If you’re curious, try it! It’s a lot more entertaining and worthwhile than the many time-waster game apps, and you’ll be better off for it.
Boggfather,
Excellent, with one suggestion
I have been a huge Choice of Games fan for years now - since the only place to find them was their website and they only had a handful of games available. They create excellent quality choose-your-own-adventure style games, and I highly recommend trying them out. Extremely pleased to have all the games in one app, as it will make following what’s new a lot easier. Also, unlike others who have written reviews, I didn’t have trouble restoring purchases on the app. I’d already downloaded some of the apps, which allowed me to synch purchases over to this one without trouble. Or, if you have a CoG account (which I recommend for the sake of saving games for sequels), you can restore purchases that way without trouble, too.

I would like a way to sort the games in the app, though. Whether by what you’ve already bought or played or by genre, it would make things easier. The search function is helpful if you already know what you want, but otherwise it’s difficult to navigate the app outside of scrolling through the titles.
LoveliestLiu,
Fun time consumer and interesting
I’ve only been reading some of the free stories recently, and some free chapters of paid stories, and theyre mostly very fun and interesting. I can tell why the free stories are free, theyre very short, which makes me very sad cause the end of the book always hurts most, cause its the end of a fun story. I very desperately want to read the paid stories because I have a feeling they’ll last a lot longer and be much more fun to read, but I can’t pay for them till a lot later. Maybe we can watch 5 ads each to read one chapter of a paid story maybe? I’ll watch up to 20 at once for a whole story, honestly I’ll watch even more probably, just to read more stories. I’m sure it’d be a good source of money…right? I’m sure some people already pay for the books, but many people don’t, and never will, so at least a couple ads may help out with some money right?
Daisy6787,
Excellent!
I play a lot of visual novels, so I was intrigued by the idea of a virtual choose your own adventure novel. So far I’ve really loved this app! The stories are fun, the writing tends to be very good, your choices matter, and every book so far has had lots of playback value. Having them all in the one app is very convenient.

The app itself has run smoothly and I haven’t had any real problems with it. My only nitpick would be that it would be a little more convenient to have the library of books I’ve been reading up front instead of the explore page.

The prices are good for the amount of content you get and the three chapter trials let you test the water to see if the book style works for you before you pay. Choice of Games specializes in fantasy and what I call historically inspired fiction. If you like quirky content or are looking for that historical vibe and aesthetic but without all the homophobia, you’re likely to love their catalog.
SUPERSAIYANVASTOLORDES,
The best app on my entire phone
Honestly these games are 100% my favorite ways to pass the time. My favorites include Heroes of Myth, Créme de la Créme, and Tally Ho. However, none of these games shine so bright as the Werewolves of Haven series. I’ve played the first game over and over again, always discovering new possibilities, and in the few days it’s been out, I’ve played the second at least 4 or 5 times. Honestly the worst part about them is having to wait for the next installment. Jeffrey Dean has really outdone himself in writing these. The story is heartfelt, realistic (besides the werewolves of course), and honestly makes me feel like I’m living in this insane world of werewolves vs humans and the struggle for survival. I would HIGHLY recommend these games to anyone. I will say, while Heroes of Myth is a not too distant second, the Werewolves of Haven is honestly a true gem.
