TecKSinclair,
Amazing!!!
This app is so good, it’s almost perfect. It has nutrition, activity, water, and measurement tracking, plus a notes section with a good variety of tags that serve as a mood journal/symptom tracker of sorts. With pro, I also have Fitbit integration and a fasting tracker. Put that all together and this app really meets all of my needs and took 2-3 apps out of my rotation, all replaced by this one.

I only say it’s almost perfect because I would love two things, they’re minor but would be great. I would love to have more flexibility in the fasting schedules/tracking. Nothing longer than 16:8 is kinda on the light side for people who are already used to regular IF. An option to input a custom fasting schedule would be perfect but the addition of 18:6 and 20:4/OMAD (one meal a day) would be fantastic. ADF (alternate day fasting) is not my jam but they have several options for that as well, though I can’t attest to the variety.

The other thing that would be great is an increased variety of tags in the Note section. Again the option to add custom ones would be marvelous but just more tags so that I can track a wider breadth of moods and symptoms would be helpful.
Princess5307,
Not ready for the iPhone X
I’ve used a few calorie counter apps before, and this one seemed good at first. However, there are a few options that are not user friendly. I have the free version so they may be better on the subscription version.
But, for one it’s hard to determine exactly where it is deriving the caloric limit from and it doesn’t automatically update with weight loss or gain, you must manually recalculate each time. Then, it doesn’t tell you the exact calories you have expended for the day (even wearing an Apple Watch), it just gives you a goal to burn each day based on information entered in to the bio.
I have yet to determine what the color of the circle for each day indicates since there is no explanation for that.
Also, I’ve yet to come across any of my foods that have the barcode information entered into their food database. A lot of the foods I'm scanning are common foods. It’s extremely time consuming and frustrating to have to enter all the information about every ingredient in each meal in manually. It also only gives a few options for serving sizes instead of multiple options. Most of the serving sizes on the packaging of my foods don’t even match up with one of the serving size options given.
Lastly, the app crashes on my iPhone X every time I try to search for a food. This is by far the most frustrating issue I’ve had with it. If it crashes every time I try to enter my food, how am I supposed to actually track my calories?
toriht123,
Close to perfect! A few small issues though…
This app is great and it is an excellent multi-tracking tool for overall wellness. I love that it syncs to my watch. I was so impressed with the quality of it that I only had it a day before choosing to upgrade to the membership.
However, with that being said, there are a few small issues. I tried to find a way to reach out to the dev team or request to beta test in order to address or troubleshoot these issues, but couldn’t find that. My first issue is that the watch app of YAZIO always presents an error when trying to sign up or sign in, specifically through Apple ID, which is what I’m signed up with on my phone app. It still connects to my Health data, but I want to access the app on my wrist too. The second issue is part of why I opted into a membership, so it’s disappointing it isn’t working- the Health/Food Coach option to create my own meal plan always presents a 404 error no matter what options are chosen. The last issue might not be a YAZIO issue (possibly a Siri issue), but the Siri shortcuts don’t seem to do anything.
Overall, I’m still happy with my purchase bc it’s super easy to monitor so many aspects of my food intake, water, and activity while being easy-to-understand.

YAZIO is huge headache
I got a new phone and downloaded YAZIO which I paid subscription till May but on new phone it won’t let me see recipes. I can’t find away to contact, at first it wouldn’t let me log in and when I would request help with password you all would not send password. So I had to dig through my passwords till I found it so it loaded info from profile but not completely correctly I had to go in an edit plus it didn’t load any old data.

As far as the app goes I prefer my fitness pal. This has a lot of incorrect data if you compare nutritional data on packaging to app. Plus if you try to input new food a lot of times it will give you a stupid message (I can’t remember exactly how it’s worded) but essentially it tells you nutritional data doesn’t add up to serving. I feel my fitness pal is more user friendly. The only thing I like better is the note section so you can track moods or health from day to day. Oh and calories burnt don’t match with other sources, I tried to online sources and a book, at least 2 of them match but rarely does YAZIO info match. At first I thought maybe I will like it better if I use it longer, I’m on my second year because I forgot to cancel subscription before it was deducted but like I mentioned before I can’t use recipes on new phone so if not correctly I have no reason to continue with this app.
Cooliobrouhunicorns,
THE BEST (not biased I stg)
I don’t usually write reviews but I am truly impressed by this app and felt I should give credit where credit is due. This is by far the best diet aid app I have found and I’ve been through many trying to find the perfect one. It has everything you need all in one and there’s no hidden charges like others. What I especially like about this app is their extensive recipes, one thing I struggle with as an athlete is getting enough, good, calories and the recipes have helped tremendously as they are all light wholesome ingredients (perfect for an active lifestyle). Another great aspect is their new addition for notes so that way you can track how you are feeling if you are in a new diet or if you just want to decompress. There are so many meal plan options so you can choose what is right for you or just track what you are already doing!:) facts

Just Falls Short
I truly wanted to like this app. I’ve logged my foods for several years on another app that I reluctantly gave up because the subscription cost is pretty substantial as apps go. I searched and found this one, and paid for it. But I realized immediately that many, MANY of the foods I logged had false or inaccurate nutritional information attached to them. I’ve also been an intermittent faster for years and was so excited that I could finally combine food tracker with my fast records. Very disappointed that first you can’t choose from more preset options (I do anywhere from 19:5 to 23:1), and although the fasting times can supposedly be manually adjusted, I’ve had no luck with that whatsoever. I’ve used about e dry fasting tracker app out there so I’m well versed on how to manually adjust those times. My suggestion would be to save your money. I bit the bullet and paid the high price for the app that’s accurate and user friendly. I’d love my money back l for this one but that’s not gonna happen. Fix your app and exercise more vigilant quality control.
BrahmiTriYoga,
Not great for vegans and vegetarians
First the good. I like the water tracker. I am definitely drinking more water because of this app. I like how you can see all the nutritional info easily for each meal. This was more difficult with MyFitnessPal. They have a FB support and the people are super supportive and helpful in that group.

The not so good. Adding a recipe had to be done manually. You can’t import one from the web like you can with MyFitnessPal. I am not sure I trust their calorie calculator. There is a coaching app to support intermittent fasting and offer different challenges. This would be good except it doesn’t work well for vegans or vegetarians. It includes lots of menu suggestions and recipes but not for vegans. There are a few vegan recipes but there are not very good. Would not make again. The whole coaching aspect is bad for me because it keeps telling me to eat animals (vegan for 20 years).

Bottom line, what I paid the extra money for is useless for vegans and vegetarians. Only benefit over MyFitnessPal is the water tracker. If I knew that I would have saved my money.
Maddlestorm,
I love the app but the UI is twitchy
Exactly as the title says, this app actually makes the yearly $20 subscription worth paying for. I like the grades tiers that the recommended meal calories are broken down into and it actually has helped some of my health issues surrounding my GI to follow the recommendations! So when I say I love it: I really mean I love it.

My only complaints are really that the keyboard on the IOS version tends to bug out sometimes when you’re trying to log food an inevitably have to type something in. It doesn’t keep you from logging by any means but it’s definitely a bit annoying when you’re like me and are constantly in a big hurry!

Also some of the serving sizes people input into the foods are WILDLY incorrect, but that isn’t so much the fault of the app as it is the userbase. So if you plan on using it, be prepared to have to double check everything packaged! Other than that, it’s great.
CalKidDewey,
Good, but recent UI update is a step back
Love the functionality, tracking, and reporting, but the recent UI update requires more clicks than before to navigate into and out of meals to add items, and when you’re in a meal making additions you can’t see your daily totals. Given I often use the tool to plan my next meal ahead of time, not being able to see my daily overview while in a meal is a challenge. Also, the scrolling units entry feature is frustrating. If the default is 1 ounce, but I want to enter 7 grams, I scroll the number 1 to a 7, then the Ounces unit to Grams. When I change the units, the number scrolls back and resets at 1, forcing me to have to scroll the number back to 7 again. Hopefully they’ll address these issues and make the tool easier to navigate and make it easier to make entries. Overall, still useful and robust.
MightBeTim,
New from MyFitnessPal
I’m trying this after being a MyFitnessPal user for a long time. The things I really like about this are (1) it makes really good use of its Apple Watch app, way more than MyFitnessPal, and (2) it’s a much cleaner look. With MyFitnessPal I always hated how the initial screen was basically an ad for their other products, despite having paid for the full subscription.

The downside of YAZIO is that the database doesn’t seem as full, although so far it has been pretty good. The bigger frustration I’ve run into is that when I tried to add foods that weren’t in the database I got an error saying that my calories didn’t match what the macronutrients were, despite the fact that they were definitely what the label said.

At $22 per year so far it’s definitely been worth trying out. They also have a lot of different diet options with food recommendations, which I’ll be checking out after the holidays.
