All user feedback from the last survey is now implemented, most notably Zendo no longer writes a Workout sample to HealthKit. All the mediation information is now available on the Mindful Minutes sample. This is likely the last update to Zendo for the foreseeable future as we completed the initial roadmap + feedback cycle. Zendō 6.1:
1: One of our most requested features (bugs) is for meditations to record zero calories burned during the HealthKit workouts that Zendō generates. We have tried a number of different ways to support this -- while using the built-in Mind + Body workout. Alas, we are unable to get this working. As a result, Zendō now saves meditations using the Other workout.
2: Many of you are taking advantage of the new meditate to donate feature. Thank you. In this release, we turned on community ranking, which highlights where you fall in the list of active meditators supporting the community.

Zendō 5.5: Compassion
As we researched the science + traditions surrounding meditation, it became clear that compassion practice was as important as insight in the development of mental fitness.
A self image manifested by compassion for one’s ownself or deep empathy for other beings completes your meditation experience immediately and enhances the long term benefits after.
For the past 18 months, we worked with practitioners and technologists to build a compassion experience within Zendō.
For each minute you meditate, we donate directly to a cause reducing suffering in the world.
This month we are meditating for GiveDirectly : Project 100+, with over 100K families already funded, we are joining the movement to get cash relief to U.S. households impacted by COVID-19.
We are still working on the code + content, but think it is good enough to get some feedback.
We are excited to see what you think of this new addition.
PS: to get the most out of the compassion experience, you’ll need to sign in and enable causes on Apple Watch.

With this release, Zendō adds real time breath + movement detection to ensure that you know when you are doing right. Each minute of a mediation session, Zendō calculates if your posture + breathing are within a range consistent with a meditative state. If you are within range, a success haptic fires. If you are outside of the range, a retry haptic fires with a feedback message. Let us know what you think!
