Great Ballistics Program
I don't usually write reviews and I am fairly new to precision shooting. But this program allowed me to go out and make accurate shots at 500 yards with hand loads. And by accurate I mean within a 6x6 inch plate (second shot after adjusting for wind). This app has a lot of features, which might be a little overwhelming for the first time user. But as soon as I got everything calibrated for my rifle, the ballistic charts are fantastic for my .308 ... Great app and in my opinion worth every dollar. The app is regularly updated and as I'm writing this review a new version is currently in beta. Very excited to see what results I get at further ranges.

Edit: used again for 1100 yards with my 6.5 creedmoor and shooting 12 inch steel plate. Got multiple hits, and initially really got me close to target. Have to do some adjustment, and verify hits at prior ranges. But great app! Highly recommended

Windage Issues - No Fix. Creator Is A Turncoat
When this app first came out it was awesome. I loved it. However, about 18 months ago I noticed a glitch with the windage. Any time you change your maximum range your windage values completely change. I leave everything the same, it’s literally only the maximum range. So if you enter 500 yards as your maximum range your windage holdover may be something like 10”. Go back and change the maximum range to something else, let’s say 700, and now your 500 yard windage will say holdover is 15”. The further you go out the worse it changes. How can I trust this for competition, let alone hunting? I emailed the developer about this and they said they had no idea but would fix it. Well, here we are over a year later and still no patch. The straw that broke the camels back was that the original creator, Jonathan Zdziarsk, is an absolute turncoat. He believes AR-style rifles should be banned to the NFA list and has a lot of anti-gun rhetoric on his blog. Until the new owners publicly condemn his actions and prove he is not receiving royalties, I will no longer use or support this app. If that doesn’t bother you and you want to fork out the dough to buy this then go for it. Good luck with your windage values.
Bearhunter4ever,
Awesome program for target shooting & hunters.
This is the first shooting solution program I have purchased. With a little range time and practicing with the program variables all three of my hunting rifles (300 Ultra Mag, .257 Weatherby Magnum and a 30-06) are on the money out to 700 yards. If your after an easy to understand program that's self contained on your smart phone look no further. Hunting in the mountains or hitting gongs at 700 yards this program lets you input real time wind, altitude and elevation data and generates a trustworthy shooting solution. The data base of bullet BC's and drag coefficients is very user friendly. You can easily input live wind direction, speed and temperature. Push the calculate button, dial your turrets and shoot. Great work guys!
dcloin,
Amazing support
I was having an issue getting the current atmosphere to update. I sent an email on Friday evening asking for support. Saturday morning I received an email from Curt.

I was amazed that the developer responded so quickly especially over the weekend. I switched the weather service provider from NMI to NOAA and it works perfectly.

I really appreciate the support, makes the purchase price all worth it

About the app..... I’m new to calculating ballistics but have really enjoyed trying different ammunition’s and being able to see the results. Being new to the whole everything I still found the app easy to navigate and use.

Thank you for creating this app.

I’m enclosing my response from the developer in case anyone else is having the same problem.
Hi Darvin,

Thanks for reaching out! We are working on a bug in the app causing this issue. Until we have this fixed, you can go in to the ballistics settings and try switching to another weather service provider like Geo or NMI. You may need to restart the app for this to take hold.

Curt
CSR-MA,
Sold out
Now I’m beginning to understand why my messages to the original developer of the app went unanswered. He sold out to Federal Cartridge, a company whose own ballistic app was little more than a useless marketing ad. I had been begging the original developer to update the cartridge and projectile databases for nearly three years. Check the app update history. This is the first update in 2 years. This has been my go to app for over a decade. The data it’s solver generates is very accurate, provided you give it accurate correct inputs. Remember, garbage in equals garbage out. A very functional and easy to use app, still solid performer. But it has been lacking in some of the more recent projectiles and cartridges. Let’s hope the boys and girls from Anoka don’t F this up badly.
Tmgrunt,
Not new but not a Professional either
I’ve had this App for a few years now. Also have other ballistic apps as well. I also have a Kestrel 5700 w/ Applied Ballistics which I love using. But of all the Apps I have used I always revert back to this App first. It is always there when you need it since we all have our phones in our pockets etc. I don’t always remember to drag along the Kestrel. It’s fast. It is easy to input and store input. Enjoy the reticle view as well. For the average shooter/hunter it is all you’ll ever need. Very well thought out and executed. My sons are also hooked on it as well. Good job. Thank You.
Honeybadger Dave,
Ballistic
I've been using Ballistic for five years.
It's very good with some bullets and fair with others. If you don't keep detailed accurate records of every shot and it's specific conditions this is a great next best thing. It has helped me tremendously wile working up loads and testing bullets get on target quick and then I fine tune with real world conditions. It should have a correction mode for data to be fed back to the engineers for examination and possible improved data. Use the users for the improvement of the programs. Like a LR algorithm for shooters. Thank you for your app.
Stay on target with Ballistic.
Onirot69,
Excellent Tool
I've used this app for several years now and is now the only calculator I use. I am a long range enthusiast and have used this to help me predict very long range trajectories (out to 1,050 yards so far). I've used it to help predict spin drift, to estimate range based on mil readings, estimate point of impact shifts with different bullet and velocity combinations on the same Gun/scope combo, and even to lob sub sonic .308 rounds out to 600 yards. It allows you to look up your ammo from a database or input your own if you Hand-Load. I like that you can save your favorites loads for all your rifles. Overall a very helpful app.

Paul
Ol Pecorino,
Worth every cent
This app has been the most worthwhile one I’ve actually spent money on. I’ve had hours of fun just playing ballistics “what if.” I only have access to rimfire rifles and a 100 yard range, but even at those distances the program is useful. It correctly predicts (close as I can eyeball it anyway) the difference in impact points when I switch from supersonic to subsonic ammo. I don’t have access to what I’d need to “really” test it, and even if I did, my so-so shooting isn’t good enough for it to matter much.
Bite the bullet, pull the trigger!
Old Operator,
A waste of money
Not user friendly at all compared to many of the other calculators out there. It is poorly designed and organized. It should be simple. Enter in your rifle data and save it. Enter your ammo data and save that. Then on your main page choose your rifle, choose your ammo, and then enter in station data and distance then press calculate. BUT IT’S NOT!!!!

I spent 2 hours of my life that I will never get back, plus $10 to buy the thing hoping for something better than the Shooter Ballistic App. Hell the crap calculators put out by the Ammunition manufactures is better than this. I would rather go back to doing it the old way with pencil, paper and a slide rule, along with DOPE charts. More crap to pack but at least it is there and useable.
