Lainey133,
A necessity for daycare families
When my son was first in daycare, we were dragging him to the pediatrician near-constantly to get antibiotics, eye drops, you name it. It was a huge strain on us trying to juggle appointment times with taking care of our son and work. So when Blueberry became available in my state right before my younger child was starting daycare, I signed up immediately. I've only had the service for less than a month, and I've already had two visits and multiple text conversations. Tonight my five-month-old had symptoms of pink eye, and I sent in information and took care of her cozily at home until I got a call back. It is true that it sometimes takes a bit to get a call, but both times I've used the service for a visit it's been under an hour, and my understanding is it's triaged based on urgency. Plus, I would MUCH rather wait an hour for a phone call while relaxing and taking care of my child at home, rather than spending that same hour (or realistically much more) driving to urgent care and waiting there. Anyway, the pediatrician called and had already reviewed all the information I sent in, and within 5 minutes she was diagnosed and a prescription sent to our pharmacy. Amazing. Highly highly recommend.
TristaRico,
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I can not express how much I appreciate this service! Honestly, this is the perfect addition to any parents arsenal when trying to care for your children. I woke up this morning, my daughter was showing signs of croup. I saw blueberry pediatrics online, checked it out (I’ll be honest, I was skeptical at first), signed up anyway just to see since I know TeleHealth is becoming more popular. Within 30 minutes a doctor called, I spoke with her for a little, and then she sent over a prescription to my local pharmacy.

Where has this been all of my life?! 🙌🏻 Thank you to the doctors who are apart of this program. Not having to drag your child to urgent care or the ER and to be able to do this all from the comfort of your home is so valuable. My daughter has sensory issues, so when she is sick, she is in sensory overload and I feel 90% of her anxiety of being sick is from having to visit a doctor when she doesn’t feel good. Now that I can do this from our house, it is so amazing! Thank you!

Awful experience
I contacted Blueberry because my baby had some skin irritation on a Sunday and I wanted to know what I could do to make her more comfortable. I expected to hear something about cleansing the area or dressing her in different clothes for a day.

The Blueberry doctor told me my infant had a potentially life-threatening infection and needed to go to the ER immediately, where I should expect her to be admitted to the hospital for several days of IV antibiotics. Cue total panic. Thank goodness I called the actual pediatrician after-hours before taking the Blueberry doctor’s advice! It was normal, benign swelling that went away on its own overnight. I cannot imagine the horror of the situation that would have ensued if I had taken the Blueberry doctor at her word. My baby could have been unnecessarily exposed to all the pathogens in an emergency room, separated from her family and treated with antibiotics for no reason. I would probably be starting my life as a parent with tens of thousands in unnecessary medical debt.

I understand being extra concerned about a baby, but this was a terrifying overreaction to a totally normal situation. I canceled my membership. I have no confidence in this service’s ability to provide advice or a diagnosis for my child. I guess all these five star reviews are from people with older children or something. I don’t think it’s a good service for babies, in my experience.

Prefer this over our regular pediatrician
We have expensive PPO insurance and we likely have one of the top pediatricians in LA area but that doesn’t beat the convenience of this service. For parents with younger kids, this is a must have. Since we subscribed, we had 17+ visits and got call back within 30min. On more than 2 occasions, it saved us ER trip. Yes, I’m one of those parents who freak out and take kids to ER for everything. Today we had a pink eye case and we were immediately prescribed meds for both of my kids. I took care of it while running errands. I feel like we have 24/7 on call doctors, which is 100% true in this case. You cannot find a pediatrician who will call you back at 2am. Count yourself lucky if the nurse calls back. If it’s something more serious, we always get second opinion from a different doctor anyway.

Waste of money
I’m lucky that I did not pay for this app myself. We got a 1 year membership as a gift at our baby shower and thought it was an awesome concept. I have been disappointed every time I use it. It takes hours and sometimes days for them to reply back to messages sent and then instead of it being a steady conversation after they finally do reply it takes hours for them to respond back after you answer their previous message. Sometimes the doctors will even switch mid conversation. Also after they ask a few questions they give very vague answers with no real solution. Every time I’ve asked anything i’ve just been told to monitor it. How is that helpful?
Also for the video visits there’s hoops to jump through to start the visit. I wanted a visit for my 1 month old at the time (now 4 months) and before I could start the visit they wanted me to get her oxygen saturation and a picture of the back of her throat which I had no way of doing accurately. It’s Very frustrating and I will not be renewing the membership when it’s time.
PythonHunterEvergladesKris,
Excellent service
I’ve had Blueberry Pediatrics for about two years now as an alternative to when my son lost insurance coverage. The doctors are great - very patient and caring. I’ve only had to use it a few times - twice for more serious problems requiring a prescription and a few times for general concerns. I’ve had rXs written for when he had a cold and also when he had an eye infection and fortunately the prescriptions weren’t crazy expensive so taking into account the general cost of insurance, how often we have needed it, and the low costs of the prescriptions it’s been absolutely great. We’re finally getting insurance for the sake of specialists for non-emergency concerns but for the past several years, the team at Blueberry Pediatrics has been a blessing and a Godsend.

Worth it’s weight in gold
Subscribed last night at 1am when my toddlers croup escalated really quickly. Pediatrician called within 30 minutes having reviewed my notes and audio. She even requested additional video in order to make sure she was confident in the diagnosis. We are traveling out of state and don’t have a pharmacy nearby. She took the time to help me find the nearest 24-hour pharmacy, sent in the script and marked it “urgent” so they’d fill it right away. Under her care, my toddler made massive improvement throughout the night. The pediatrician genuinely seemed to care about my child. The best peace of mind a parent can have in the middle of the night is an on-call doctor. We will absolutely be keeping this service and recommending to everyone we know. Very impressed.
Amp475,
Best money ive ever spent!
This service is worth every penny. You can contact a pediatrician 24/7 they are very responsive and helpful. My son has had several ear infections or other illnesses and of course symptoms start at night or on the weekends. Being able to get an appointment within 30 mins of requesting and getting prescriptions called in if needed without having to wait days for an appointment at the pediatricians office is invaluable. Not to mention you can text a question you have at any time. Even using this service once more than pays for itself!! It also came in handy when we were out of town and he got swimmers ear they were able to call in a prescription where we were on vacation

Good in theory, poor in practice
Having worked in healthcare I’m an advocate for concierge-style service especially for pediatrics. This review is NOT about the providers on the platform. However, upon first use of Blueberry we were disappointed in app-usability and time until service (60+ minutes). We figured we’d use our first time on a weekend for a straightforward fever. The UI of the app is pretty but very difficult to navigate and you frequently lose progress when you need to go make changes, thus having to re-enter information and waste time. I would highly recommend anyone who gets set up to immediately do a “visit” to get a feel for the platform so as to not waste time when you really need service. First experience took over an hour to speak with a physician of which we could have just done walk-in to Urgent Care (which they ended up recommending we do anyways).
ldsmith64MSU,
Wow! Just wow!
I am so beyond impressed with Blueberry Pediatrics. My son started vomiting at bed time and I thought it was from over eating. Turns out it was not- he began throwing up all night. I submitted a “Visit” around 5:45 am with my sons symptoms. By 6:00 am a doctor was on the phone with me. Not just any doctor but an educated, thorough, asks the right questions kind of doctor. It’s now 6:10 am, a prescription has already been called in for my son, I have a school excuse for him for the day, and I didn’t have to wake my children up to drag them to the doctor for what took 5 minutes at home. Hands down the best money I have ever spent.
