The biggest new feature in this update is support for metric units. This was the most requested feature and we are very happy to announce its availability with this update. A big thank you to our customers in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and other countries for your patience and understanding while we were working on this feature. To switch to using metric units, please tap on the Settings tab, select Units, and select Metric.

A big thanks to everyone for your continued support. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to make apps that make a positive difference. We are so encouraged by your successes!

Other new features in this update:

- Simplified music management. You can now use your iTunes playlists to play music in the app without the need to create the in-app playlist. To switch to using this mode of music integration tap on Settings tab, select Music, then choose “From iPod Playlists”

- Added the ability to turn off GPS when you run on the treadmill or when you don’t want your run tracked. To turn off GPS just tap on the GPS circle on the main screen and select “Turn GPS OFF”. To enable GPS for your next run just tap the GPS circle again before your workout.

- You can now choose to have the app continue the workout after you have finished the planned portion of the workout. If you usually run a little extra after the planned workout you can now get credit for the extra effort. To enable this feature, tap on the Settings tab, select Workout, then turn ON “Continue Workout” option.

- If you have enabled the GPS feature you will now see a new “Distance Run” workout in the workout list. When you select Distance Run you will be able to choose the distance you wish to run and the app will tell you when you reach a half way point, when you reach your goal, and distance alerts at certain mile/kilometer markers.

- Facebook & Twitter posts now include distance and pace. You can now edit the Facebook post before publishing.

- After a long and successful career Michael is retiring as the male voice-over talent for the app. We are happy to announce that Jim has been named to take his post.

- Fixed a bug that caused the distance to be doubled under certain circumstances.

- Fixed a calories burned calculation bug.

- Various other bug fixes and improvements.

blackcatnapattack,
Bridge to 8k
Well I did it. I finished the couch to 5k and today was my last day of bridge to 10k. I ran...5.24 miles. It’s a great app for getting me to run longer, but I’m still almost a mile off my goal. I, and I believe most beginners, can’t run a 9:39 mile. I wish the app had some extra workout weeks for the slow runners out there or suggestions on how to run that pace.
N. Veon,
Do not pay for this app.
This app is extremely quirky and does not work well. If you want audio updates during your workout, this will not give them to you. I tried several variations of settings and the only updates I could get was every 10 minutes and that was only if you leave the app unlocked and in the foreground the entire time. Allowing the app to "auto lock" shuts off the audio updates even if it stays in the foreground. If you switch away from the screen at all, you will not get updates. Also the calculations are incorrect. It said my fastest mile was slower than my average which is mathematically impossible. I worked with tech support for about a week to make it work to no avail.
Lb524,
What happened?!
I was so sad when I started using this app again because I used to LOVE it. With this version, the GPS is ALL over the place! Walking down a side walk for 15 seconds and it says I went backwards then crossed the street twice. With the GPS so unreliable, the only accurate journal stat is the time. So disappointing. Also, the voice notifications are very hit or miss. Sometimes they tell you to walk, sometimes they don't. I have to keep my phone out to watch the screen which I really don't love. Minutes pass much slower when you have to watch them go by...
mcornel,
I love this app
I love this app. I started with the C25k and thought I was going to have a stroke when it moved up to 90 second runs, but I lived. I just loved it so much I moved up to the bridge to 10k. I can run over an hour without stopping!!! I am so happy. The last time I could do that I was in high school over 22 years ago. I really hope they make another level for those of us who are addicted.

Oh yeah, the only reason I didn't give this app 5 stars is because of the bug that keeps the prompts from playing with the page closed. Really only a minor nuisance compared to how much I love the app. Anyone who longs to run, but can't absolutely needs this app
michellemacbeth,
Love app. Hate the customer service
The app is wonderful. But I have had trouble with getting anyone to help me through customer service when I ran into trouble renewing my subscription. No matter what I did the app won’t fix on its own. And I have emailed them probably ten times in the last month and gotten no response.
veganshane,
Sort of annoying
I like the actual exercise plan but the app is kind of dull and it annoys the heck out of me that it wants location always on for the app.
Emerysma,
If you already run & need a flexible app -THIS one is PERFECT!
I never write reviews but I love this app so much i had to share! I'm a mom with a child that has special health concerns so my workouts times and days HAVE to be flexible ( even more so than the regular moms) since we may end up in the Hospital with him without notice most apps I've tried have a race goal and doesn't allow flexibility in changing day or missing a week.

Plus this app is great for the current runner that is trying to improve on time. I have already completed a 10k but didn't train with any structure for those teo. All other programs seemed to be very inflexible ( you set race day and no way to change schedule for missed days or move to another days etc) or it was too basic for anyone already running. This bridge to 10k app has already helped me cut 3 minutes off my 5k time with hopes of doing even better for my 10k race coming up in 2 months.

I didn't initially purchase the gps at first because I had a great running watch however after just one run i added it and loved it for the mapping and tracking it does so seamlessly with the app. It also works great with my iTunes playlist too! Now if only they had a bridge to half marathon app to help me improve on that race too!
ZepFan77,
No distance training
I just finished a 5K (I did it through a local running store) I previously had checked out the Couch to 5K app and liekd the training schedule (seemed to fit very well with the in-person coaching I had). I wanted to try and step it up to a 10k, so thought the app would be a good solution. Though this training program doesn't do any distance based training, it's all timed - with the longest run being 60 minutes (my 5k run was 42 minutes- I finished and ran the whole way, it wasn't about my speed - it was about distance and not walking) I'm very disappointed that this traing program doesn't offer distance increases - just time... first week is run 10 min, walk 1 min, run 10 min - I can run 45 mintues straight... this was supposed to be the "bridge to 10k" not "ease to 10k" not happy and just wasting $4 (I purchased the GPS)
BigPoppaThaHeartStoppa,
Great running app!
This is easily one of the best running apps out there, very easy to use interface and love how I can listen to music from my playlist. The voice prompts to run/ walk could be a bit louder or maybe I just need to listen to my music on a lower level. Also great way to keep track of runs with the log and add comments for each run. Never had trouble sharing to Twitter (I don't use Facebook). A must buy if your looking to increase your run distance, ran my first Official 10k and completed it under an hour. Would love for the makers to add a half marathon app that keeps all the good things in this app.
Running to lose!,
Fabulous!
Great way to continue running after Ease Into 5K! I had my 4th baby 11 weeks ago and I am already running 40 minutes! I stopped running when I was 20 weeks pregnant so I was very out of conditioning after the baby was born. This has helped me lose weight and love running again.

I wish the program would allow you to manipulate the length of the workout a bit...such as longer runs in the beginning and longer breaks, shorter warm up and cool down. Overall, though, it has been a great tool for me!
