fitnessgirlie100,
Best fitness app ever
I’ve been using this app for quite sometime and it really has changed my fitness routine everyday. When getting other apps, some aspects make lack which causes me to have to fill my notes app with meal plans and my weight/ rep goals, etc. This app overrides any of those issues because it tracks everything. Instead of having to go between my notes and my photos to gather my personal record data and workouts, I have it all in this one very organized app that gives me peace of mind.
Additionally, what I like about the app is the variety of options it provides me. I’m a college student and sometimes fitting in a quick workout into my busy class schedule is what I need. And not only can I learn new skills or participate and new challenges through this app, but it also helps track my nutrition which is a game changer in my fitness routine. 10/10 recommend this app for sure.
_pipi_,
Recent update make it worse
I’ve been using btwb for over two years now. It hasn’t been updated until recently. Like other reviewers said it’s a long overdue update, and they asked people to try out the beta before rolling out the update, yet they managed to do a horrible job... I mostly use it to log my personal WOD, macro and lifts. I agree with other reviewers that 1) the font is too small to use and 2) I need to make at least two more clicks than before the update to do the same thing..... This is very annoying when logging my WOD or finding my PRs. Calculate percentage is not easy either, need to click menu - lift calculator - search for movement - then type a percentage... I mean do you really need to type a percentage? Isn’t tabulating usually used percentage scaling much easier to use??

For app design, btwb team really needs to learn from other popular WOD apps like SugarWOD. Clean and easy to use. I love the analysis btwb does on logged data. The web version is awesome and offers far more information than SugarWOD. But the app is a disaster in terms of user experience. My subscription is up in March, I’ve been waiting to see how much improvements this update does to decide if I want to continue paying out of my own pocket for it (my gym doesn’t use btwb). I was sadly disappointed...

PS: I also agree that the social functions the development team is so excited about isn’t very useful, at least to me. Maybe it’s desired feature for gym owners.
Crossfitter88,
Awesome WOD and Progress Tracker
I’ve been having BTWB for a few years now and it has continued to improve since the start. I can easily access the workouts I follow and log my times and weights. The progression measurements keep you aware of your strengths weaknesses. I highly recommend any athlete to BTWB to track all of their workouts.

The only thing I would like to see implemented in the application for phones is a timer. More specifically a timer that is linked to the workout, i.e. I follow MisFits and the workouts are already there, so a timer already set for the specific workout would be amazing. This would especially come in handy when doing interval work and each round is for time with rest periods in between or when you need to track your split times for each round, etc.

Thanks for the amazing job guys and keep up the great work!
Preacha’ Kyle,
Good and getting better all the time.
I’ve used BTWB since I started CrossFit three years ago. I still keep a record on paper but consistently log the workouts later. The best feature is the app’s ability to track records. Paper logs are very hard to search through to find past scores, with BTWB I can find previous scores in seconds to see progress and set new goals. The fitness score is a great way to see overall fitness improvement and wholes in your programming. I use CompTrain programming and while I was paying the $10 per month logging was super easy, now without the workouts preloaded I struggle a little bit entering them into the program. Not a problem. Hence the five star rating.
Scc79,
Like the new look but there are some bugs
I wish there was a way to report bugs outside of the App Store (maybe on the setting menu). I like the new overhaul of the UI, it is cleaner and more modern. You will get some negative reviews for it because people don’t like change but it was definitely needed. I did find Atleast two bugs. First I wanted to log a weight in today, so I selected ‘weight in’ button and added my weight into the entry field. I did not add any of the other fields. When I click on the ‘save’ button initially with the keyboard up, it does nothing after removing the keyboard and clicking ‘save’ , it displays a notification that it saved and brings me back to the previous screen. In my case this was the target progress but the screen is not updated with the new weight. Not sure if the data is no being saved or just not displaying correctly
tbt tahoe,
Solid WOD tracking app
I use the BTWB platform to track my WOD history, even though my box shifted to another platform which integrates class schedules, etc. The reasons I continue to use BTWB include:
- viewing past workouts with specific movement and searching all workouts by movements. (This helps me strategize a workout and also plan workouts for open gym or travel days.)
- the fitness level feature for specific workouts and for overall performance. This is by far my favorite feature and something other platforms don’t provide.
- identifying strengths and weaknesses.
- max lift potential level calculations
- Articles/content are nice; I especially like articles where btwb uses their repository of data to help athletes identify and address weaknesses.

Features and improvements I’d like to see include:
- a way to create (or log) lifting complexes. I currently have to find something similar that’s already in the movement list and make notes.
- max rep logging from the app (works when I use the website, but doesn’t on the app)
- entering planned workouts for future days from the app (avail on the website)
- logging emom’s with alternating AND multiple movements per time interval (and max reps per interval...)
- logging multiple different amraps with rest between (e.g., 6 min amrap for a and b, 1 min rest, 6 min amrap c and d)
yankee485,
Has Great Potential
I’ve been using BYWB for about 6-7 years now. There are a lot of great things about it and a few bugs and kinks I’d like worked out to give it 5oo5. I write this review having beta tested the next version as well which is an improvement on the old version.

Pros:
- Lift estimates based on pst lifts tend to be pretty dang close to what I’m able to hit.
- I don’t use the macro tracking ability as my Nutrtion coach uses MFP, but I like the idea of the integration.
- large database of movements.
- Common movements give you average power output for a metcon so you can track that across metcons.

Cons:
- Fitness level results can be skewed, but I’m not certain what can be done about that. From my understanding these are based on your performance vs all users so it’s highly dependent on user base.
- Different versions tend to have bugs that can crash the app a lot.
- If you change a movement from the RX program it doesn’t automatically populate as Modified. This also leads to skewed comparisons.

Features I’d like to see:
- Apple Watch App to at least display the programmed work out
- Timer incorporation. Would be cool to have a timer as part of the app and even cooler if you could click on a WOD and the work out time-scheme is already programmed in (I.e. a tabata already ready to go)
BigChiefMacco,
Amazing Tracking App
I started using BTWB during summer 2014. It changed the way I workout. I’m a big fan of anything that can make real life more of a video game, and pushing myself to increase my fitness level was an amazing motivator. Since that time I’ve started working out at home, and being able to use BTWB to filter workouts based on movements has been helpful for my garage gym where equipment is limited. The app is easy to use and intuitive.

I’ve used the app to follow both my local affiliate and main site Crossfit, it’s incredibly easy to follow multiple workout tracks. Additionally, I’ve followed some of the free and paid coaching tracks as well over the past 4 years and I love the ease of waking up to your programming already loaded to the app.

Additionally the support staff is great. Anytime I’ve had an issue I’ve put a ticket in and immediately received a response. Great company.

A few minor changes I would recommend include the option to exclude movements in workouts and filter workouts by necessary equipment. If like to see it integrated with Apple health but that may be an Apple side integration.
Nickyla01,
Extremely helpful and easy to use app.
I have been using BTWB for a little under 2years since starting Crossfit. I really can’t compare it to any other app like it (if there is another) as this is all I have used. Daily WODs and other workout tracks are preloaded for me to “log” when completed and these are tracked for future reference and calculation of maxes, performance increase/decrease, etc. Very easy to use and understand. So helpful to find previous max lifts and other results (as I can never remember!) and gives helpful information on percentages of lifts to aid in training. I have experienced very minimal outages or glitches in BTWB, and the good thing is they’re constantly updating the app.
anteojosrosa,
Not A Fan of New Graphics (ie None)
Not a fan of the graphics on the latest update. The graphics is one of the most important things to get right on an app; they used to have cool badges and tags at the bottom of a workout result, reflecting fitness level, any PRs, and your level as to benchmark workouts. I loved those! They are now totally gone, replaced by a boring table listing. Not sure if the “phenom”/“elite”/etc is still available, but I can’t find them on the app.

I’m not sure why apps lately have been moving in wrong direction - flat, colorless, boring. I’ve been using this site for about twelve years now, so obviously I’m kinda locked in, I just wish they’d bring back the features we actually liked! Is it too much to ask that an app be visually appealing AND work well?
