1 Month In & Never Looking Back
I didn’t realize how bad my shoulder and upper mobility was till I started to do oly lifts. I literally could barely get the bar over my head and squatted forward. It’s been a month and I’ve progressed so much! I loved that this app is catered to your individual needs… both mobility and what you’re working on that specific day. It’s very motivating to take a test and track how you progress over time. I was less sore after working out (and now more sore from being able to progress to larger weights in my oly lifts). I have recommended this app to everyone I lift with. As a beginner I would have never had any idea what to do to help. I checked out some of the larger books on mobility, however, really just need to have this on my home screen. I have two toddlers and I’ve also noticed a ton of difference in daily movements and my back feels so much better since getting more flexible. Thanks for the awesome app! It blows the other app out of the water that’s the main competitor.
R-Fern,
Great app overall
Love this app overall and I’m really glad you added challenges as it helps promote consistency, or at the very least getting a certain amount of mobility work in.

Perhaps other users dictated the change, but I much preferred the smaller, segmented picker for selecting time when going to a specific movement/stretch in library.

I would LOVE if you could move the Favorites scrollview to another spot. Perhaps, to the right of “Protocols” and “Library” in that segmented picker? Then allow a similar list view as is shown in the exercise list with the smaller pictures. Having more than a few favorites is maybe not the intent, but even like 10 can feel quite cumbersome to scroll across to get to one at the end of the line.

Incredibly Helpful
I am the type that follows programs well. I like structure and someone to tell me what to do. In the mobility world there are just so many videos, opinions, and of course professionals. This app is the perfect balance. It does an assessment and builds a program specifically for you with assessment points every 30 days. I found that areas I thought were the weakness were not, at all. I thought my hips were the problem and this tool clearly identified my shoulders and overhead reach as issues. And after doing some of the program, man was it right. Worth every penny. I do 15 minutes every day.

The new app is buggy
Ever since the app redesign, a number of bugs have surfaced in the “Daily” training protocol. If I select a 22 minute session, sometimes I get a 15 minute session. It’ll stop auto-advancing between exercises; this seems to occur more frequently if I skipped an exercise earlier in the session. It’s as if interacting with the session throws it off. Sometimes the labeled time and the timer do not line up; i.e. the movement could be labeled “3 mins each side”, but the timer will count down from 2 minutes. Finally, at the end of a session, sometimes it’ll end on a screen with a bunch of “undefined” labels. C’mon guys.

All of these add up to a relatively frustrating UX, when all I’m trying to do is relax and recover. It’s doubly frustrating because the app was so perfect before the redesign.
Give me your lambs,
Good stretches, but I wish I could personalize more
Yes, there are new specific flows, but I still think this app lacks a lot of personalization. Here’s a list of things I wish they would improve:

1) Allow the user to choose the workout time. The current options are 8, 15, and 22 minutes (excuse me if I left a couple times out). Why can’t I do a 12 minute session? Or a 35 minute session? Session duration should be left up to the user.
2) Customizable stretch times. Sometimes, the sessions want you to hold a position for 3 minutes. This is helpful at times but can be an annoyance at others. I think an option of “no positions longer than x minutes” would be a great improvement.
3) customizable equipment. Frequently, on the pre and post WOD modes, the sessions require items ranging from a foam roller, lacrosse ball, PVC pipe, and/or barbell. The user should be able to tell you what they have at their disposal and make a protocol off of that.

Overall, I think this app is a great tool for improving mobility, possible one of the best on the market. But the lack of customizability is bothersome.

No Premium access
I was having issues right off the bat gaining premium access on iPhone. I requested support and got an email back very quickly. Their customer service is great. I followed the directions explicitly in the email to register for premium access external to the Apple App Store. The GOWOD app asked for my credit card info which i happily provided, stoked to finally use the app as intended. However, after I provided my CC info and submitted, it went to a loading screen and was loading for at least ten minutes before I closed the app. When I opened it back up, I still had no premium access even after I provided my payment info. That is extremely concerning to me. It’s clear others have had success with this app but for me it has been an enormous pain in the neck.

Connection errors and pricing complaint
I downloaded this and did the test. I then signed up for the free-trial HOWEVER, the app will not recognize the purchase. I believe it is due to being signed in via Google but the app uses the App Store for subscriptions. These are very different for most people.

Also, when attempting to find a way to fix the above issue, I noticed that the monthly price listed under the “premium” tab in settings was $2 less a month AS WELL as with options for 6- and 12- month subscriptions. These are not offered via in-app purchase.

This app might be great, but there are too many programming flaws for me. I am deleting and cancelling the subscription - yes, it went through on the Apple side of the equation. May try another day if you fix this issue.

Great tool for self development
I have a background in Exercise Science so most of these movements are what I already know and preform, but the key for me is to follow a daily regiment and track progress. I read reviews stating that there isn’t much customization within the app; one user stated they can’t select a certain amount of time. I found that if you just pause the timer and work through it at your own pace (mine being a few minutes longer with certain movements) that resolved the issue easily enough. Overall great tool
dmaclach,
App could use some usability improvements
So I love the concept but for the amount being charged this app needs some love. First off the videos don’t always stream and the spinner just spins while you are waiting. It blocks my ability to click on the go button so I can’t do anything. Next when I click the back button and I’m doing bilateral exercises, consider each side as a separate exercise so I don’t have to restart the whole sequence, just the one side I missed. Also switching out of the app while the timer is running often freezes the timer or even worse resets it. If I want to start some music in the middle of a three minute stretch and it resets my timer that’s really frustrating.
MDeike,
Could be a 5 star app
Everything is great about this app. I love the monthly tests for mobility and the daily flow. These things need changed for me to give a five star review:
- More than five seconds in between changing sides. I need more than five seconds to come out of my pose and switch to the opposite side (banded pigeon stretch for example)
- Be able to select more than one muscle group if I select stretches from scratch. I don’t know all CrossFit moves so I need to select the muscle groups I need when I’m doing just a lifting day.
- Be able to select the exercises (above) and create my own flow from those selected and not select one exercise at a time to do.
- Play the exercise video separately from the timer. I don’t know how to do every stretch and I don’t want time taken away from my stretching just because I’m trying to figure it out.
- Randomize pre routines better. I selected completely different exercises two days in a row and got the same routine from the day before. Please randomize flows better or fix the things above (creating my own flow).
