YodaCera,
Use it all the time but,
I like the interface. I look the look. It’s very intuitive. But I’m upset I bought this app for $5. I did want the death icon and the monarchy, but for some reason I was under the impression that you can preset game types. I WANT TO PRESET GAME TYPES!!!

That’s what I thought history was. I thought I could set up a commander game and then save it so I don’t have to always be putting commander counters at set up. I also want to preset regular games so I always opened at the same two colors.

For future updates, it would also be cool if the history logged into a player database the user provided so you can keep track of either points or kills or whatever so we can set up leagues and keep track with our phone.
Gabby Aganon,
Near-Perfect Life Counter App
While the default life counter app in the official MTG companion app is actually pretty good, this app steps it up by giving additional customization options and a cleaner interface. So, I definitely recommend giving this app a try and I do believe that the additional $4 to unlock everything is reasonable. However, I have one major issue with this app that prevents me from giving it a full 5 stars.

For Commander games, I wish there was a way to keep track of whose commander dealt damage to who. Player 1 might have dealt 2 commander damage to me, but there is no way I can also show that Player 2 dealt 3 commander damage to me as well. While this can be mitigated by having dice, I think having dice defeats the point of having an app like this.

For other MTG formats and 2 player Commander games though, this app truly shines. As I mentioned earlier, the way things are presented is so much more appealing than the one in the MTG companion app that its my primary choice for Standard, Pioneer, Modern, etc. I just hope in the near future, they address the one issue I present here so I can have a better experience for Commander.
Knfprty134,
One of few great life counter apps
I love this app. It’s very responsive, clean and intuitive. Customization such as colors and settings isn’t lacking. It has some helpful tools. But it’s not quite complete in my opinion.

I wish I could give this a 4.5. A few things that would make this a 5 star for me: The ability to keep track of damage from multiple commanders (instead of just one, it’s kind of useless with 3+ player commander games), and secondly, the damage history (log) is also kind of useless. If I take 3 damage and I’m at 37 life, the history will just show -1 -1 -1 instead of showing -3. This makes it impossible to track down damage that was done turns ago or maybe previous steps or phases. Other apps have a short timer with the button press that will consolidate the damage to a single number, such as -3. And a few other quality of life additions are always wanted.

Overall, this is one of a few great life counter apps on the App Store. And I would gladly give it a perfect score if this app continues to see support from its developers. Don’t stop supporting this app, it’s almost perfect!

Jack of All Trades, Master of Most!
First of all, I thought it would be relevant to inform you folks that I don’t even have the premium version of this app. I’m a college student. I’m too broke to pay for an app.
That being said, this is a stellar app for a Magic the Gathering player. It has everything I could want in every format (except +1 and -1 counters, but there’s probably no real way of implementing that for more than one creature) and it has a surprising amount of things that I want as a D&D player. I’m a dungeon master. I use life totals as monsters’ hit points. I use the dice for... well, dice.
Basically what I’m saying is, this is a great app for Magic, and it’s a great app for D&D. Nerds of all shapes and sizes can appreciate this beautiful thing.
Camtron from beyond,
Easy to use with full features
My playgroup has used this app to keep track of our life for years, and have been extremely satisfied the entire time. It is incredibly easy to use, while having a range of helpful features. The chooser feature is amazing for determining who gets to start the game. The full version of the app is reasonably priced at $5, well worth it for the additional features considering how much time we’ve spent using this app. I highly recommend this app to anybody looking for a magic life counter!
can game will game,
Great! Beats the MTG life counter ‘official’ app!
This app is way more streamlined and customizable than the MTG life counter app!!! The minimalistic design is a wonderful touch on an app that has given me no problems so far. It is also much more counter friendly for those of us who don’t have 20-sided dice. Obviously I’d like to see more free features in 2020 including the new and coming “name” function. Because of the paid features I will probably keep both apps for awhile and see if the paid functions make this app overwhelmingly inefficient. If more free features are added, I’ll probably get rid of the old MTG app and keep this one, along with re-reviewing this app with an emphatic five stars!!
The Bard Gnome,
Crisp and elegant game companion
When I first installed the app, I didn’t really see the point of it or a benefit to it that outweighed my usual methods of tracking life and counters.

I changed my mind very quickly. The design is incredibly satisfying- it’s simple, sleek, and straightforward in its usage. I use it every time I play, or one of my fellow players will bring it out. Also, while clearly designed for some games over others, it is still readily usable in games that require any form of scoring or keeping track of tokens/counters/turns/etc.
Nick Fritchey,
Great app!
This app is everything I wanted in a damage counter app. The color choices, the effects and the many settings to customize for your needs. The only thing it’s missing is a basic calculator function in the gameplay menu for higher life total games like Metazoo, but I can use a real calculator for that. Overall, this app does it all! $5 and it will last forever and be in my pocket for any game night or tournament.
serious punch,
The best
This is by far the best life and counter tracker you can find in the App Store. But I do have a few complaints. The chooser seems to be rigged. When playing with two people it always chooses the person who’s finger is closest to the top of the screen. Also I’ve paid for the premium features of this app and even though the app has been updated I still can’t input players names. I’ve paid for this and there was an update 1 day ago from this review and I still can’t do this. This makes me feel like I paid for nothing.
Vordigern,
Best Counter I’ve Encountered
I’ve used many apps over my 10 years playing, and this is not only the cleanest, but the most functional. Even picking the players is fun, and it supports on the fly commander damage counters and displays everything cleanly and at a glance. Easy to see the board state any given time, and we’ve had six players at once with commander damage counters. It kept up and most importantly, clean. The fun colors are a bonus
