Excellent Dictionary!!
Highly recommend this dictionary!! Easy to use interface includes navigation bar to nice dictionary features like: favorites (synced by icloud); smart search to find related terms; integrated Bing/Google translate interface; multiple color options; split view support on iPad and NO internet connection required. iPad interface takes advantage of the large screen. Phrases are a powerful way to learn not just a word but its context: the phrases add-on option is totally worth having; words and definitions can be selected for cut/paste copy into documents, flashacard apps, etc. Words in a definition are themselves “clickable” and will take you to corresponding dictionary entries.

My go-to translator
This iPhone app has an extensive range of words and expressions. Having lived in Germany for decades and then come back to the USA, my fluency in German has decreased although my passive knowledge is still fairly good. However, the accuracy of my spelling and idiomatic expressions are greatly improved with this dictionary.

Great App, a Few Issues...
This is a fantastic dictionary app that covers a huge range of modern & outdated words as well as idiomatic expressions. Definitely the best free Ger-Eng dictionary out there!
Would be a five star app if it weren't for the extremely frustrating organization of the entries. All possible definitions of a word are organized alphabetically instead of by frequency or meaning, which sometimes makes it challenging to figure out what a word actually means. There are also frequent typos in the entries which may or may not be a big deal, depending on how much german you already know.

Love the dictionary, the functionality leaves something to be desired
I've been using this for several years, and both the number and quality of definitions are excellent. I love how it's all offline too. It is really irritating, though, how every time I open the app it cuts off my music if I'm playing anything. The fact that I can't tap a word in a definition to go to see other translations of that word makes it difficult to make sure the word I've got is the one I'm looking for. If these two issues were fixed, this would be a five star app.

Great Range, Great Dictionary!
Really a great dictionary!! It beats Langenscheidts in the range it covers.
I am always surprised at the words captured in this dictionary. Even when I read old high German books, I am still able to find most words in this dictionary. It compares with the best I have come across. Very commendable.

Finally a 5 star app
Long the best dictionary, the app finally let's one slow the speaking voice enough that those who are not native speakers (me) can understand the pronunciation. So I can finally give it the five stars it so richly deserves. Thank you.

The worst feature is that for any word in English or German, when there is more than one possible translation the equivalent words or terms in the other language are listed in alphabetical order, not according to how common or probable they are. Sometimes the list of equivalents is incomplete or grammatically off, e.g., "verlottert."

If you need a handy German-English dictionary, this is it. It is reliable, it has examples of how to use words and lets you save the words you have looked up in the past.
