ES Remote is an iPod touch/iPhone app that enables Sony AV receivers to be operated via the phone’s touch screen. It is compatible with the following models.
- STR-DA5800ES
- STR-DA2800ES
- STR-DA5700ES
- STR-DA3700ES
Just like with the graphic interface of AV receivers, ES Remote has cool graphics and is easy to use. It handles basic AV receiver operations (turning on and off the power, adjusting the volume, switching input sources, switching sound fields, etc.) as well as Zone functions. That way, you can easily operate the AV receiver from the screen of your iPod touch/iPhone, even in another room. The app is even equipped with a DMC (Digital Media Controller) function. Designing ES Remote in an advanced manner just for AV receivers enabled high sound quality playback of Internet service content and music files on your NAS or PC with ES Remote.

No updates to fix IOS update issues
This app was really awesome for controlling my receiver until I updated the IOS on my iPhone. Sony has not provided any updates to fix the issue that started after the IOS update, and has been quiet about this very issue that users have been very vocal about. All features but the power control still work, but I need the power control. Come on Sony! Step it up with an app update to fix this!

This app is excellent for controlling the proper Sony receiver. My STR-DA5700ES is a great receiver with a bit of a slow interface when it comes to settings. This app takes care of all that. Changes are practically instantaneous. This app genuinely makes a good receiver more useable. Also, you can change soundfields on the fly with no on-screen menu. The handheld remote almost let's you do that, but not nearly as convenient. Last thing, some networks are finicky when it comes to using these controller apps. Some people have routers behind routers and other issues. Make sure you troubleshoot before you decide it doesn't work with your receiver. I had to turn off NAT on my router a while ago due to these issues. That said, this app saw my receiver right away. Make sure you tap on the receiver name, not the extra settings.

Works Great!
This app, along with the iTunes Remote, works fantastic on my iPhone 5. Hasn't been a problem yet and I've been using it for a few months on my Sony DA5700ES. There are some features of the amp that it does not control, but it does everything it is said to do by the developers.

I loved having this app but the Power Control function stopped working with iOS 10. Please fix it!!!

Sony is SO disappointing anymore. This app was for their high-end ES line and they just don’t care. They sell you and move on, no support. I used to love Sony products but no longer. I’m done with them due to their lack of support. Bye bye Sony!

Latest IOS 10.2 fixed power control issue!
Woohoo, my app is back. Love this app, I have a 5700 and 5800, this app allows me to turn on my outside zone, and a 3rd zone that connects the two receivers, turn off the music, change volume, etc. from anywhere in my house. This app is soooo useful!!!

Broken with iOS10
Sony has not updated this app since 2013. Has mot been an issue until now - with the release of iOS10. For some reason, the Power Control screen no longer works. Major issue! Please provide a fix!

I didn’t think this app would be updated to be compatible with 64-bit iOS 11, but it did. Has been great with my STR-DA5800ES so far.

STR-DA 5800ES
This app works well with my home network and str-da 5800es. I'm guessing the previous reviewer didn't have it connected properly or has some strange network configuration.
