Works on iPad, iPhone not so much
I have had my Pioneer Elite VSX 60 for along time now and I am thankful they are updating the app once in a while. I got the best control of the sound options from this app but most consistently by using my iPad. The original remote control died along time ago and only the Mute and Sat/Cabl input select buttons and power seem to work on it now. So this app was my only hope Obi Wan Kenobe. When it works, it’s great. Thankfully I have an iPad. I have a wireless Ethernet connection. My kids use their phones with some success as well. Not sure if having multiple apps on different phones screws it up but perhaps the Pioneer techs that put this together should test that out. I want to give this app a 5 cause when it’s good it’s great. But the selective usability is not acceptable. Maybe their is s patch or piece of equipment we could add to our unit to make it flawless? Please give it some thought on your next go around and secure some buyer loyalty.

Soooooo many features!!!
I’m rather happy with the app, the features, the GUI. It offers lots of options to really dial in the sound... as long as you have the patience, and trust your ears. Sound level and distance tuning combined with phase control, then doing some fine tweaking with auto retriever and 24bit upscaling really lets you find that sweet spot. Do play with the Phase delay and LFE options on Stereo to really dial your system in, and bumping up that bass in tone settings may help too. (SC-81, Sony’s UBP-X800 blu-ray, Monitor Audio’s silver 300 surround system, SVS’s SB-2000). If you do lose connection, unplug the LAN and go into network settings and change between DHC and manual IPaddress, because odds are you have an IPaddress conflict. Continue to troubleshoot system by power-cycling your Ethernet switch/router/modem. All with LAN unplugged/plugged... eventually you will fix the conflict. Only other quirk I have is with ARC... I need to set AVR to TV, then tell my TV to connect to receiver, then power cycle the receiver, then it works. Overall great AVR and great app, thanks! The sound is amazing!!!

When app can’t connect, unplug the AVR

If the app can’t find the receiver and you get that error after about a minute, unplug the AVR for at least 3 minutes, quit the app. Hi mug back in and launch the app. It then found it again.
I wish they would update this app because I’m sure some iOS will kill the app for good and at that point I’ll have to replace the receiver since we use it for multi zone and without a remote we’ll have to go across the house to where the AVR is located to turn it on, turn in zone 2, adjust volume… to play music in the kitchen. It just won’t happen.

Has a lot of features like EQ etc that is not offered on others
I am not sure why the low star reviews for this, I used this for VSX 1021. It has been working for me for a very long time now in different versions of the app. I have a Sony receiver from Costco which is crap compared to this from Registration to usage. it is not even an actual remote app. it is called sideview i think. I also tried Denon & Marantz and compared to all of those Apps this is way better. If only the people complain can go check other reciever apps they will know how day and night difference between this and the competitors out there. I hope Pioneer keeps this app alive for the old recievers like mine. thank you!

Have to “trick” it back to work
I still use this app for my VSX1021 the app will intermittently be unable to connect to the receiver even though it will show the receiver and at its correct IP Adria’s in the app’s Settings -> Select product screen. When this happens I bring up the receivers’s network configuration screen and disable and re-enable the use DHCP setting. Once I do this the app reconnects.
The older version of this app had almost all of its features accessible via the launch screen. The newer version introduced many separate “tabs” that are just extra clicks. All in all the app is pretty full f attired just plagued by connectivity issues.

It’s back to 5 stars
I had just given up and given this a 1 star rating. My most sincere apologies! My problem was that router switched my iPad to a different band than the Pioneer SC87 was on. I manually disabled the second band on my iPad and all is well again. Yes, it’s time for an update with most routers now automatically switching as they want to but I’m thrilled I got my audio going again. I had not used the system in a while and switched to the convenience of a stereo-pair of HomePods. They sound good, but WOW, they pale in comparison to the SC87 and a full atmos set of KEF’s.

HORRIBLE APP
This app is the worst. Trash. Just like all the other bad reviews, this app rarely works. I bought my SC-95 receiver last January(2016) and the first time I used this app it worked for a while. But then it just went downhill from there. My receiver is connected via ethernet and the app still cant find the receiver. It used to be that I could unplug the receiver's power cord and then the app would work. Now it doesnt even respond after that. I spoke to a representative via email that told me and I quote: "The app is a free app and is not guaranteed to work to perfection." Seriously??? What kind of a company markets their own app on their own website and then tells its customers it might not work properly??? Trash. Never buying another Pioneer/Onkyo again. Horrible app and horrible customer service.

A Colossal Fail
I’ve had this receiver for over a year and spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to get this app to work. I originally attributed my problems with connectivity to wireless network issues. But after going through the trouble to run a network cable to the receiver, I realize the app or the receiver or both is just c**p. I can only get the app to connect if I disconnect power to the receiver. After powering back up the app and receiver MAY start talking. But only for a day. Then it’s start all over again. I think the problem is within the networking software of the receiver because when it goes offline it doesn’t show up on my routers network map. Bottom line-Doesn’t work.

No longer works at all
This app has stopped working, period! Get network errors, will not load. Tried unplugging my SC-95, troubleshooting my network, checked Ethernet. Nothing works.
lol and behold, I just tried this software again after a software update on my SC-95, and the program works. Everything!, including Internet Radio! Media Server works too, but still a little wonky. My airdrop password isn’t being accepted yet, but someone at Pioneer/Onkyo has been listening to the reviews of the software.

Probably ISP Issues
My Internet Service Provider was a company called Charter now Spectrum and I never had a problem with the app. I switched to AT&T and the app rarely worked. Most of the problems I had were as stated by you all seemingly around connection issues. I'd type in the IP address and my app would lose it. I switched back to Spectrum and once again no problems. Well... If you let the app stay powered down to long you do have to close/kill it and restart it.
