Description

Designed and engineered by creative professionals, drawing in Feather is just as natural as real pen and paper. Once you catch how to use your fingers to look around and a pen to create lines from different angles, where and how far you use it is fully up to you. With its simple but polished interface, Feather is for everyone who wants to visualize ideas.

• Draw and view in 3D naturally:
- Create a 3D guide with your first stroke, and then draw strokes on the guide to quickly get any shapes as you imagined.
- Zoom, rotate, move to the top/front/side/rear views, and change FOV by just swiping and tapping with your fingers.
- Draw symmetric strokes with mirror mode enabled.
- Every stroke you draw will be saved in cloud storage, accessible anywhere at any time with an online connection.

• Erase, select, and edit intuitively:
- Rub out strokes point by point, or just wipe them out at once.
- Move, rotate, and adjust size or proportion with a joystick interface.
- Duplicate selected strokes in the same positions or symmetrically.
- Change the style, thickness, color, and opacity of the strokes already drawn.
- Control environment settings such as background color, grid, and fog effects.

• Sort your work into groups neatly:
- Activate a specific group to draw, select, and edit.
- Hide or show strokes by groups.
- Name the groups to manage them.
- Select the whole group and transform every stroke inside the group at once.

• Look around in AR directly:
- Place the drawing in reality and adjust its location, size, and angle.
- Show/hide drawings in AR by groups.
- View AR on different devices with the QR code.

• Export works diversely:
- Get the 3D data in OBJ format and GLTF format.
- Set the angle you want and export it in JPEG image files.
- Make 360 degrees turntable animation in GIF files.

• Organize notes and folders freely:
- Create and manage folders in unlimited depth.
- Save the thumbnail to recognize each note easily.

s capone,
Interesting, but unintuitive
Interesting concept, and it works great, but thinking in terms of 3D cross-sections and view angles is unintuitive and offputting. Perhaps this style of working makes sense to architects or CAD designers? For me, I have to think too much about it and get frustrated, and I’ve been a 3D artist for decades. If you came here expecting a ZBrush or VR style 3D drawing tool, this ain’t it. Also, your tutorial video goes by too fast without explaining the tools or the workflow concept. Good luck!
DriftKickArtist,
It does work
I signed up for an account and spent probably half an hour testing it out, I will edit review later as I explore further.
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Yes, it does work. It is a bit tricky to get used to, but I got the hang of the first style fairly quickly.
The options are so far user friendly. Navigation is simple enough.
I am excited to keep going and try out as much as possible!
It’s well thought out, with options such as: quick 2d capture from the angle you are already set on, this will be very helpful.
-for those who just want to try- There is a video tutorial at the beginning, and it lets you explore the model and those tools before making an account.
That’s all for now. If the developers see this, this is my thank you.
I can only imagine how much Feather will be able to help me explore my art concepts as I get better with the tools.
Willitz,
Unique and great for sketching designs. Can’t use offline.
Working in the games industry I find myself needing to sketch out ideas and objects a lot and this is the only app I’ve found that allows me to do so in 3D (aside from sculpting via Nomad, which can be slow if you just want to quickly lay down an idea). The lack of offline functionality, since it is a web app, is a really huge downside for artists on the go. There is a small learning curve involved because you must first draw the shape of the canvas you want before putting down lines on it, but it is an easy hump to overcome after using it for a couple hours. Overall I find that this allows me the flexibility to sketch shapes on the go, provided I have access to the internet, then export them to 3D software to use as 3D reference or simply take several screenshots from different angles to draw over in Procreate/photoshop. It is very similar to the grease pencil tool in Blender if you are familiar with that. All the upsides are sort of eclipsed by the fact that you are completely unable to use this without an internet connection, and the reason I give it a 3/5. As a professional, I wouldn’t want to put myself in a position where I have work that I might need to show or access, but can’t due to lack of connection. I also wish it had the ability to fill areas with a surface instead of just laying down a bunch of lines to get a solid fill. Being able to drag lines around to modify their curvature would be very helpful as well. Overall this has pretty much every basic feature you would need to quickly lay down spatial sketches provided you are near Wi-Fi or have 4G on your device. I’m interested in seeing how the development progresses from here! I may consider using it for professional work if offline functionality is added at some point.
Redhat_man,
Hi potential free range 3D drawing.
Love it! Just hope that performance can be improved. Seems to have strong dependency on cloud… please offload to the device as to ease the dependency and make the app buttery smooth.
