Description

Force Patient is prescribed to patients of Force-enabled healthcare organizations, allowing patients to watch videos, complete tasks on their daily To-Do Lists, and communicate with their Care Teams via messages. Data points from the patient are sent back to the Care Team, allowing them to understand patients' progress and take action when necessary.

Force-enabled patients should have received a welcome email and can use the same login credentials that they use to access the web version of Force to log into this app.

Force Patient is free for patients who have been prescribed Force at a Force-enabled organization.

Requires a patient Force account.

Force Patient utilizes Apple’s Health App to read your step data.

Total Hip Replacement 2 months Ago
I like this app. Before surgery I was able to message my care team about pain meds. Haven’t needed to do that again. Like other users I like that you can replay the videos on how to do the exercises. While I recently noticed that my exercise log doesn’t go to my doctor, it has kept me honest about actually doing the exercises. I think it’s quite clever how the exercises get more difficult every 2 weeks. I hate this but it’s almost certainly good for recovery. I share the exercises with my PT and she helps me with form. I have reviewed my “progress” and this has been positive. I really suffered the first 2 weeks after surgery, but the progress log shows I’ve consistently gotten better even on days I’m not so sure. Knocked off 1 star because the Home Screen does not send me to the actual exercise log but rather back to the videos. Easy to avoid this problem but would be better to fix it.
T. Hathaway,
A great resource
This resource has provides a great deal of information with various educational communication tools where I believe there’s likely a fit for most if not all! There’s video along with script - love it! You can go back and review the material anytime you want. It doesn’t overload with too much information at once and additional material is assigned according to the anticipated date of surgery. Although I use the DHMC portal to communicate most everything, for joint replacement, it’s nice to have all in one place as well as the ability of to message.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is I have been insulin king ny steps. I’ve tried and looked it hi but no luck yet. I will further inquire and see if I can get assistance. I imagine more important will be steps post surgery to stay on top of rehab and movement.
Word addict in KOP,
Good but needs a little more
This is a good app for therapy from hip and knee replacement. There are a few additions I would do. Such as, add a space in the exercise log to make comments about the exercises you just did, not just rate them. Like if you are having a hard time with one exercise but the others are easier. Also there should be a rating between neural and hard.

You should also be able to check off your progress goals and also rate your pain level more than once a day to see a pattern.

Other than that, it’s good with asking questions and getting answers from your care team and the videos (both exercise and care instructions are helpful).
sdredfern,
Has potential but very buggy
I’m using this before and after my spinal/lumbar fusion. I think this app has tremendous potential, but it is very buggy.
I have found exercise instructions to be incorrect when getting clarification from my care team, my surgery date changed in the app when it hadn’t in reality, and the app just stopped importing my step count at some point and it won’t restart.
On the positive side, I like being able to message my care team (have you ever tried getting an actual live call through to a doctor lately?) and I like the videos for instruction on recovery as well as PT. I review some of them periodically to refresh myself on the right way to continue to recover.
The app team should focus on quality and this can be an excellent asset for patients to use while recovering & rehabilitating.
RandoGeorge,
Not perfect, but a huge step forward!
I just had a total hip replacement done two weeks ago and this app has been a godsend, both pre-op and post-op. I found the videos of proper exercise technique very helpful and the ability to log these exercises as I complete them motivating.

The best feature, though, has been the ease with which I have been able to communicate with my care team. The surgeon, a nurse and the scheduler have all been able to answer questions both large and small on a surprisingly prompt basis. This has been such a relief to me and my family. Knowing that I am submitting data on my progress to the care team on a daily basis also gives me faith that if something is amiss, the care team will notice and respond. The data tracking feature has also been interesting to review.

There have been a few minor technical issues like app crashes on my iPhone, but this has not been disabling.

This is my third time recovering from a major surgical procedure and I have felt, by far, more supported and cared for by the hospital and physicians through this app. I can see why they are using this platform.

Needs Improvement
I was very excited about this app when I first received it. I told family and friends about it who recently had surgery and they did not receive anything like this from their doctor. Unfortunately, is was disappointing once I began using it. I have had many issues with the pages freezing and when I click an action, nothing happens. My steps are not accurate to what is on my Health app. ( I have an Apple 10) I was also looking forward to the messaging ability but this is not something that my doctor has activated. This app is an awesome concept but needs some work on the technology and user ability. The videos were great!
Subzzzreo,
Total hip replacement
I have had several surgeries in the past and member had a tool like this. I am retired Army and was big in the gym at times in my life. I'm fairly knowledgeable on proper workout tactics. The app helps remind me of things I may have forgotten or can improve on.

The other educational information is very nice! You can never learn enough about ways to better your health and ask around good information. The text and email reminders help keep you on motivated to a faster recovery.

Think of this as your own personal trainer! I hope I will be able to access the app well past my expected recovery!
New hip in NH,
A great help and resource
I have had two knee replacements- 10 years ago and 4 years ago with out this app.
I am 25 days post op for a hip replacement and have found this app very helpful for all the same reasons others have listed.
Its not perfect, but a very good resource both pre and post op that I wish I’d had access to with my knees.
Especially helpful in this time of covid for communicating with my surgeon/care team and uploading photos of surgery area as needed rather than in person visits.
I have had one glitch, but my care team reset it on their end. No other issues.
Hammer_Man,
Almost Perfect
28 days post op for total hip replacement and during my first two weeks, Force was my physical therapist, my daily exercise planner and an easy way to communicate with the doctor and support staff. During first two weeks uploaded daily pictures and exchanged messages about many different things related to the surgery and my recovery. Since I have started PT the app still helps me to plan my day for the three sets of exercises, keeps track of my steps and provides easy way to send the occasional message. The Exercise Log is clunky, and the Progress page could be better. All in all very happy with the app!

Love this app
I love this app. The exercises here were more helpful than what my PT showed me. I wish I had this app a long time ago for my back. The videos are so helpful. It was great communicating with my surgical team. I never want the videos to stop. I wish that it hadn’t ended my doctors plan of care, but am thankful that I can still view the videos. I wish I had this app after my injury, it would have really helped. So thankful my surgeon uses this app, it’s great.
