jl carrasco pilsbury,
Great details
I have found the information in my report very informative and has confirmed many things for me. I love how the research studies done for some gene types are included for reading to really show the necessity of required dietary needs. These studies and results have really helped confirm a condition I’ve known or thought I’ve had and the best diet to treat this condition. I find this really helpful. The new custom vitamins make sense and can’t wait to receive and with these and diet can’t wait to see how I feel.

I am almost half Native American and a splash of Spanish on my fathers side. I wish there was a way to find some genotypes related to this side of my heritage. I know the alcohol slow metabolism is a known trait but would like to see what other traits are also related to that side of gene pool.
Eli525,
Wow.
Thank you for creating this. This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. It would be awesome if in the future you all could incorporate a nutrient tracker & calculator somehow. I’ll just be using another app for that now. Im grateful to know exactly what my body will benefit from and the fact that you’ve obtained your info from NIH studies that I can look up on my own. Asking for a calculator/tracker may be asking a bit too much but just thought I’d suggest it. I’m so happy to have this information. I appreciate you! ^_^ <3
taxesduebaby,
Difficult to navigate
I have received my report it made me download the app on my phone instead of letting me just go to my computer I did finally figure out how to put it on my computer. It does not give you a way to track your food or give you examples of what a gram of some thing is. And when you go to login it keeps asking you to buy another report. I already have a report. It does not really seem to be too useful as of yet. Maybe I am missing some thing but I have asked questions and the little but has no answers that work. Says you are being sent to customer service and then it tells you it’ll be 1 to 2 business days before they get back to you. Whatever. And also I am pretty sure this report does not necessarily fit me. Because I do have a lot of food allergies and this says that I shouldn’t.And there are many people in my family that have the same food allergies. So if it is genetically based it is way off.

Save Your Money (Updated)
The results I received can just as easily be found on government nutrition sites and searching some of the trendiest foods. I had civil exchanges with customer support, but all communication stopped when I said I had followed a similar macros diet... and gained weight. I also mentioned that some of their “best foods” in certain categories were foods I’m allergic to, or cause other negative reactions. I did not ask for a refund as they did deliver a plan, I just think the plan is random and/or arbitrary.

Update: As you can see above I mentioned customer support stopped communicating. In the “Developer Response” I got it says, “Please email us at...”. Well, I did address that. So I’d give little credence to the response.

Save Your Money
I was excited to get my report so that I could tailor my diet accordingly but found it essentially useless. It notes that I’m lactose intolerant and should only get 10% of my daily carbs from sugar but recommended my top dairy choice as whole fat chocolate milk!? And 4 of my top 10 veggies are peppers - how is that helpful to me? I’m also extremely sensitive to carbs, but they suggest 60% of my diet should be carbs.

It’s very apparent that while this information might be interesting to some people, it’s fairly worthless in terms of real life application since my genetics apparently have little bearing on food sensitivities, allergies, etc.

But I do see they’re happy to try and sell me a “personalized” supplement. What a scam.
hollarbackatu,
Info helpful until the app freezes
Would give this a four except I have to keep removing and reinstall the app to work
Thought it was a temp glitch but it keeps happening After I log in and start looking are the info clicking in for details all works well up to about 10-15 minutes in where I am stuck on a page and no amount of click on the screen enables any progress. Nothing works other than Erving and reinstalling
Marie41013,
don’t bother!!
I was suspicious but since there was a deal for people who’ve used 23andme I decided to give this a shot in case it did tell me something new and helpful.

Nope! So glad I got it on sale and can just shake my head at my choices rather than full on regret spending $80+. There are certain things I do know about my body from many doctor visits over the years that this is waaay off on it’s predictions (recommended carb intake being the absolute worst).

Seems like a roundabout way to sell diet / nutrition counseling without calling it that.

And trust me I understand they can’t predict things 100% from a DNA sample but honestly for the price the info you get just is not worth it. You can Google this information if you really tried.

If it was $20 sure, but for more than that you might as well make a 1:1 appointment with a professional nutritionist or endocrinologist. Blood work and a physical exam will give you so much more useful info.
Gypsum Gum,
No vegetables?
It shows me i need more fat than protein and more carbs than both. But it doesnt have any ratio for vegetables. Part of getting the report asks if youre getting this report because you arent sure where to start. Well im still not sure! And i almost deprive myself of them, so its very important. Its super cool to see this info, but just an extra slice of pie chart would go a long way.
Viblonda,
Dissapointed
My experience after I bought the kit was awful, nobody replies phone calls, emails were also not responsive, after a week I finally get a reply. Every day I receive emails Sherry Zhang (which i blocked now)
A got my results yesterday, i have lactose sensitivity and in the list of recommend foods ( only 5 per group) they recommend me to eat cheeses, Milks and yogurts WITH LACTOSE. I definitely want my money back is a scam and I will do a complaint at the consumers because I feel is a random test is not serious at all !!!!!
I ordered another study at modern allergy management which by far gives me much more information.
GenPrincess,
Questionable Data! Requires Dr Review!
Thought I’d try it despite very low ratings from Better Business Bureau (D-). I must agree with the negative reviews though that for my particular genetic mutations the recommendations are unsafe. It is telling me to take iron when I have been told to buy multivitamins without iron due to excessive iron levels. Recommendations for B vitamins also way off from those prescribed by my doctor. This may be a ploy to get genetic data. Don’t care about the money as I bought the cheapest option for $39 to try it out. But I do care that I released my 23andMe raw data to these people.
