nitinma,
Gratitude to the ROMWOD team
I have been using ROMWOD for nearly 11 months now and all I can say is that it is a wonderful program, and I wish I had found this earlier! I love their regular programming the best (lasts about 25-20mins) but often do the short version (10-15mins) due to time (although I do miss the soft drum beats). Either way, this has helps tremendously with my mobility and keeping soreness at bay. (Prior to using ROMWOD, I would still stretch but I found myself repeating a select few poses all the time) The icing on the cake is that this puts me in such a meditative and calm state. I have hit PRs on majority of my lifts this year and ROMWOD has played a big part. I have also hit new levels of mental alertness which, of course, is more difficult to quanity.

All in all - Thank You ROMWOD team for doing what you do.

Bit about me: I used to be a bodybuilder and martial artists, and now I have been a crossfitter for last 3.5 years.
catsandkittens33420,
Ok, but frustratingly inconsistent and lacks variety
The workouts in this app are essentially yin yoga, which I really enjoy. I feel less stiff after these routines. However, I’m constantly distracted by the inconsistencies in the workouts. Sometimes you get a full explain of the pose before going into it, sometimes you get a half explanation, and sometimes none at all. Sometimes they explain a pose fully and then the next pose they don’t explain at all. Sometimes they tell you have 30 seconds left in a pose, sometimes they stop their verbal countdown at one minute.

Most annoyingly, though, are the errors. I just completed a workout where they didn’t announce how long a pose would be held for on one size and then when we went to the other side they said it would be held for one minute. The pose that they didn’t announce the time for was only held for 30 seconds (I went back to time it because I knew it was too short!), so you aren’t even getting an equal stretch! I’ve also heard them use different names for the same pose within the same minute.

This is expensive enough of an app that I shouldn’t be having inconsistent sessions. Perhaps if the developers focus more on quality and less on quantity (they use like the same 7 poses in every routine anyway, why churn out so many?) I’d be happier.
Revelry 79,
Terrible Font size choice : updated
Trying to do the mobility test. Wow, terrible. I have an iPhone max with perfect eyesight (actually better than 20-20) and I can’t read the font. Why make it so small? Has anyone, ever been able to read it on their own? Do you even test your product? Let’s have you turn your head and then put items to read on your phone! So dumb. The regular exercises are actually good. I will use it for a month or two and see how it goes. My initial impression is it has potential, but the mobility test is a joke.

Update:
After using it for about a month, I really like it. Yes, the mobility test doesn’t work for me, but there is so much content here and it’s so much better than my initial experience . It’s hard for me to sit still and quite my mind but this app has really helped. I do see my flexibility starting to improve and as a 43yr old man with lots of stiffness, there is something to be said for that. After the first week I was a little lost what to do so I reached out to them and they were quick to respond on a good place to go for my next set of things to do, which was just the daily routine. I’m going to keep using it as it complements my usual exercise routine.
rst142,
Great programming, horrible update
Update 6/3/21: latest update is much better. It looks like they’ve re-recorded the WODs and the host talks a lot less in these new ones (a much welcomed change), though some of the warrior 45 minute routines still feature the host talking too much. Overall though, my lifting has benefitted greatly from this program. My squat is much improved due to better ankle mobility. I’ve used this app almost daily for over a year and I will continue to use it.

Loved the previous version of the app. Used to be able to see a calendar of routines and could cycle back if you missed a day, or go forward if you wanted to do a double program. They’ve gotten rid of this function with the update and I don’t really know why. Also, app is pretty buggy, crashes often. I will say my ROM, squat depth, and overall soreness have improved dramatically in the three months I’ve been using the programming. Basically, I really enjoy the program but am frustrated with the app.
Arnicolday,
Improvements Needed
I’ve had the app for a couple of years. Really liked it at first, but lately it’s been buggy (e.g., I currently can’t access any of my favorite workouts because the app shuts down as soon as I select the workout); the search engine is completely worthless (seriously, if I search for an exact title, that should be the FIRST workout that appears, not a random workout that happens to contain one of the search words somewhere in the description - often, if the title is generic enough, I’ll get 50 results and none of them are the workout I’m looking for); and the workouts are redundant (literally, some of the older “named” workouts are EXACTLY duplicated in some of the newer workouts, where the title started with a date). Finally, it would be nice if there was a better mix of movements in each workout / more “full body” workouts. Having 5 “leg day” - oriented workouts in a single week is ridiculous. Upper body needs way more attention. Overall, for the subscription price, I expect better.
Carmonster,
Update to Pliability - Overall better, a few suggestions
I’ve been a RomWod user for about 8 years, embracing the change I’ve found I like most things better. I do miss the ability to scroll down and see what was next in the routine, now you’d have to exit out and find your place again.
The first few routines on the app you were able to turn off the background music and have only the voice, I preferred that and was excited to see it. I no longer see that as a feature.
Love the different paths available and screening test.
Lavrentaya,
Great app and videos. Don’t think it’s mobility tho
I like the videos, the stretches, the time intervals, the guidance, and the music, so I give a great review for that.
But the app says mobility, and most of the videos I’ve seen by now (about 50) are simply passive stretches. And the videos emphasize to engage in very very passive stretches for mobility.
It’s my understanding that passive stretching does virtually nothing for mobility, other than giving us a temporary extended range of motion, which without the necessary impulse, goes back to its base level ranges.
Mobility in my understanding is achieved through actively engaging stretches, and actively moving through those ranges of motion, to give the joints/muscles/tendons/nervoussytem impulse and convince them that these ranges are functional and necessary, and when those mobility exercises are done, you retain a lot more ‘flexibility’, but this time with strength and control. Perhaps I missed those videos? Beyond stretching I don’t know what else this app can offer.
K3Knee$iOlogy,
Customer support/Product Review
2 days before my 7-day trial ended, I went to cancel the subscription and was prompted with an option to “extend the trial to 30 days.” I selected that option, and 2 days later I was charged for a monthly subscription. This overdrafted the spending account I linked to the app. I’ve received no help from support. I expected a refund and the overdraft fee to be paid by the app. I will be reporting this app to both Apple and Stripe.

Update by user:

This issue was resolved promptly. Customer support contacted me 35 minutes after their lines opened. I appreciate the quick service.

I was refunded the subscription charge and avoided the overdraft fee as a result. Anyone who experiences this, notify them quickly and they will respond in little time. I hope this helps.

I will not be reporting this to Apple or stripe. And will increase the star rating from 1 to 4.

Shout out to Berenice for the direct help! Thank you so much 🙏🏽

Product review:

The quality of the routines are ideal for non-yogi athletes who want to be mobile and flexible. I don’t like follow alongs, and they list each exercise therefore I’m able to do the flows and hold the poses without listening or watching. I appreciate that.

The interface is simplistic which I also appreciate. The app crashes often but it saves your progress precisely.

This app offers a lot already so I’m sure it’ll be 5-star in no time.
mr.schand,
Great content, but app needs some love
The good: The content is great, especially the more recent routines. So no complaints there, if you’re consistent - as with anything, you’ll see results. This has helped me with my lower back pain (herniated disc).

The not so good: the navigation experience is okay, the filters aren’t refined enough. I’ve actually been using the app since January, but it’s only showing me as a subscriber since November, so one of the recent updates messed something up. None of my activity is showing since January - but that was already a problem. Even after I would immediately finish a routine, the activity wouldn’t show me having completed anything for that day. More recently, I have to sign in every day I use the app, which is annoying. And as some other reviewers have noted, many of the routines aren’t loading, I have to kill the app several times before the routine plays. Last thing, a big miss on not having apple health integration.
Kjjjijjhug,
Baseball players, this app is not for you
I was excited at first to try this app out as I am a college baseball pitcher in need of some mobility work and an organized routine. However once I activated my free trial I was very disappointed to see that each video only has static stretching where you hold a certain stretch for 2-4 mins. I don’t understand how this app can promise an increase in range of motion when there is absolutely no dynamic stretches in the videos. I have done extensive research in what a pitcher needs mobility wise to optimize there range of motion in their pitching mechanics and the key component is dynamic stretches where you are not holding a stretch but working deeper into a stretch through a dynamic movement. Sure static stretches will increase your flexibility, however it is not the best option to optimize range of motion or mobility. If you want a great mobility app, skill yoga is the way to go. This app is a fraction of the cost, and builds a program based on what sport or level of difficulty you want to start with. But most importantly it mixes DYNAMIC stretches in with static stretching!
