CucuytheBigCat,
Rigged
I completely agree with many bad reviews. The game has great potential. That being said almost every time I play i have a similar experience. Tonight I played 3 games. 2 of them went three rounds. In the first game, r1 2 draws and opponent gins r2, opponent draws zero cards knocks with 2, r3 opponent draws 1 card and gins. The second game went normal and was fun. Third game was almost identical as first. Only difference in r3 1 card drawn and opponent knocks on with an ace. I leave for awhile and come back. It's always the same. I get frustrated after a few weeks and leave again. The fews times i have bought chips. They are gone in a day or two. I have played 15 seasons in a league irl and have won it 6 time snd came in second or third 4 times. Im a decent player. Should not consistently be blown out like this. Multiple times when I play. If it were fair it would be a favorite. Be forewarned and i would really think before spending money.
Cm318,
Designed to force purchase
Ok, so I’ve gone back to this game off and on over the last few years. When it comes to design and ease of use, this game is my favorite. It’s simple, but elegant looking and doesn’t bombard you with ads, which is great! HOWEVER, after playing a while, it becomes quite obvious that you really can’t get anywhere without making purchases. The amount of coins you get back for a win is way too low, not even half of what you put in to play, so one loss can be devastating to your total amount. Also after some time it just feels like the odds are stacked against you. When game after game, your opponents are able to knock or even gin after just a couple cards being played leaving you no chance at all, it just doesn’t feel worth playing. It’s either an issue of unrealistic shuffling and dispersing of cards or it’s rigged. Then there’s the leagues...they cap the amount of trophies you can get per level, so unless you play the higher costing tables you’re never going to make enough to rank high on the leaderboard, but then all it takes is one bad game on said high cost table and you’re done. No measly couple hundred coins every 4 hours is gonna help with that either. So yeah, I have a love hate feeling towards this game. Love the design and basic function but resent the low percentage of coins you win back after the low chance you actually win a game.
Jinnufr,
Too Many Coincidences
The app is absolutely rigged. At first it was ok, was still fun even with the obvious card delivery (cards you need come immediately after you discard, starting hand is too perfectly set up, etc) but after playing a few weeks it became increasingly clear that the system decided who would win and who would lose and stacked the deck accordingly. I realize there is still an element of chance since you’re playing a live person, but it’s really just no fun at all anymore because it’s not based on skill in any way. It’s frustrating to lose like that but even winning is no fun when you only win because the system decided it was your turn to win. I came here to see if I was the only one noticing these things and I’m reading the same complaints from many others. After my last purchase of a specialty pack I started losing in an unprecedented way. (Like with rookie opponents who repeatedly gin after 2 cards and no chance at all to score, etc - basically exactly what others are describing here in the reviews) The developer may say it’s random, but when player after player complains about the same issues, you’d think they’d take a look at the issue instead of trying to defend themselves with boilerplate responses. Not fun anymore. Won’t spend another dime here. Bye.
fwdan1,
Why don’t we win 2x entry fee?
Honestly this game is really fun. I think the mechanics are great for gin rummy and the game experience is exactly what I was looking for.

But, when we win, why don’t we win the full entry fee placed by both players, or double the cost to play? Spending 300 to win 450 sets everyone up to lose unless they maintain well above a 50% win rate. If we won 600 after spending 300, doubling our money by winning, you would stay at the same chip count at a 50% win ratio. Why not make so average win rate players can keep playing? Look at how money in Golf Clash works. Both players put up coins, winner takes all. Everyone in Gin Rummy 2 is set for failure unless they can maintain a super high win rate, which is difficult in a game where “luck” is a significant factor.

Then, when you run out of chips you can’t play unless you buy more. Sure, most games have in app purchases, but this game requires it. Why not run an advertisement for 300 coins (minimum entry fee at the lowest tier) so that when you run out you can at least still pay, and you get paid. Waiting around for daily login bonus or a box every 4hr for 250 coins (not even minimum entry fee) seems ridiculous.
Qwendy,
So disappointed …
I have been fairly happily playing this game for over a a year, noticing of course that the algorithm that chooses the players and cards is definitely “stacked” in a particular way each time. How else could my opponent get dealt “randomly” a 10 when I have just discarded mine, etc, over and over?

But up until this week I won enough to keep me playing, with a win rate of less than 50% mind you, including buying into the “deals” when I was short of points to play. Even so my win average has not been stellar, but I don't just play the game to win, but to relax.

This week I find myself on a huge losing streak with no end in sight and I am finally moved to leave a review, and consider deleting the app, because it's neither fun nor relaxing to lose over and over and over. Yes the Developers say that the deal is completely random, but it is being dealt by a computer after all, which projects the whole game before it is played. And I am tired of Being Played.
Duped:(,
Good game, but pay out needs to be looked at
Fun game, with all the functionalities need for a round of gin rummy. Like the various game modes from fast to slow. Overall a solid game for playing with opponents of varied experience levels.

Couple of area for developers. One is would love to have the ability to change melds. The game automatically picks the melds if you have both a set and run, I think it’s picked on deadwood count but sometimes I’d like to change it as part of my strategy.

Second is, there seem to be a huge rake on winnings. For instance on the 2nd lowest ranking tables. Each player puts in ~900 coins, but winner only gets 1400 coins. So where did the other 400 coins go? This isn’t a betting game so why is there a rake on the pot to begin with. I would also not be so annoyed at the rake if it was less. Right now if you win and lose a game you are not even you are down 400 coins.
jbbic,
Ads are Awful!!!
I used to really enjoy playing rummy using this app, but the ads have just ruined it for me. I really like the theme, the music, the gameplay, and the fact that I get to play real people, but the ads really take way from the experience. I would rate it a a four star, but the ads annoy me so I drop it to two. I hope they get rid of the ads and get back to the way the app used to be.

Also, as mentioned by other users, I find it very difficult to believe that the deal is completely random each game. On multiple occasions I have won a handful of games, to then go on incredibly long losing streaks, to the point it feels like the game is trying to get me hooked to buy more coins to continue playing, or just keep me playing in general to wait for more free coins. It often feels suspiciously rigged. I often play rummy using a real deck of cards with friends and family and have never seen some of the hands dealt to me or my opponent that I see in this app.
Buckeye Jones,
Well designed but count me a skeptic
Great animation and smooth play, but I do not believe this game is random. I’ve amassed over 100,000 chips and have lost them all with a losing streak of a handful of games—so big deal, I’m sure it could happen.

What I’m really skeptical about is the draw cards—say your opponent discards a 10 of clubs; there’s a ridiculously high chance you’ll draw a 10 of another suit. I think this is something like a 1/17 chance but it happens WAY more than 1 out of 17 draws. It’s probably worse than 1/17 to do this in real life because it’s not two random draws of a unit; it’s a purposeful discard followed by a random draw. I guarantee you there’s a bug in the algorithm.

Second gripe is that the coins have been severely downgraded. When the developers reset the values they didn’t adjust the in game currency prices to pay for coins. Would never spend real money for this but still it’s annoying that the in game currency got devalued from gems earned on mission.
L8ebugs,
Not the game it used to be
I’ve had the original app for a very long time and played a lot of games. But recently they’ve updated to #2. perhaps it’ll take them a while to get the algorithms right but there might be some people out there that are winning a lot of games but there’s some people out there that are losing all of our games. Or a definitely most of our games. I even went back to using the old app and it’s no longer the same either so they’re no longer supporting it. But couldn’t win a game if I wanted to and I usually play a lot and win A fair amount of the time.

definitely things have changed. So I deleted both apps. Just decided I don’t need it. Chose another app from another company another type of game.

Very sad and disappointing and certainly they need to do some work and get it fixed. But I am done with the apps. I wouldn’t put up with someone cheating in the game at the table. I won’t put up with the computer system that’s tilted. No matter how honest they say it is, it is tilted.
Gig-em,
Money Pit!
I have to hand it to the developers of this game. They have created a really well designed money pit for game players. If you play this game as designed it will continually cost you money. You are not forced to make purchases but game setup won’t allow you to play it very much unless you do. To advance to higher levels in this game will require more money spent on chips. To stay at higher player levels will require more money spent on chips. This is due to lower than normal win percentage payouts and low amounts of free chips. If your looking for a free gin rummy game please look elsewhere.
Another problem is unrealistic game play. The more you play this game you will see repeating patterns of how cards are played during a game. This should not happen if your playing random real players. You might be playing real people but a computer is controlling the cards dealt and the computer is watching how you play. Sorry, game developer, you need to fix this.
