I’ve been playing Game Stew games since the first Tower of Fortune back in 2013. I’ve bought ever single game, and they’re all so charming in their own ways. The concepts, the stories, the character/monster designs, the art styles, the colors (or lack of colors), the gameplay, and more is unique different every single time.
Hell Raider is no exception. In fact, I’d say Hell Raider has my favorite sprites, backgrounds and monsters out of any Game Stew title. Maybe even any title. I think I just really love the futuristic city vibe mixed with the ancient culture (specifically Japanese culture). It all feels very vaporwave and I can’t get enough of it. What’s funny is, that’s the problem for me - I wish players were able to explore the world more throughly! Mainly the City of Dead. A Tower of Fortune 3 styled map of the city where you can visit different plazas and buildings and such. Neon signs and and ghosts floating through Maybe even Gods being praised as though they were celebrities. More named locations and characters to interact with. Hell Raider already has a very vibrant and unique world, and I was hoping I would be able to explore it more when I first saw the city. I wish we could get to know the various gods better, see the Machine God riot in person, see Oni fighting Machines in the street, that kind of stuff.
That, besides slightly subpar grammar, is the only problem I have with the game. It’s not as immersive as it could be, but otherwise, it’s great. I can’t wait for whatever you guys come up with next. I’ll always be willing buy high-quality content, and this is some of the highest quality mobile gaming there is. Keep up the great work :)
