I wanted to love this app, but….
I wanted to love this app, but I struggle to even like it. First, let me start by saying that I am not an overly experienced runner. I have only been running for a couple of years and in that time, I’ve injured myself so I have to take it easy in order to avoid pain. Long runs hurt me and I do better with run/walk. I love the Galloway method, itself. This app, however, really falls short when it comes to intuitiveness and integration. In treadmill mode (road running aggravates my tibia), the run distance is always higher in the app, despite the fact that I am running and walking the recommended pace. The run information does not sync with Apple Fitness (that I’m aware of). Probably the most annoying thing about this app is that it does not run in the background. Specifically I learned this when I chose to use an Apple Music playlist instead of the app music. If you are not ACTIVE in the Galloway app (if you’re switching songs in another app), you will not hear the cue to switch from walk/run. When you go back into the app, you hear all the cues you missed at once. I just gave up on the app and timed my intervals on my own.

There are other run training apps that are more intuitive. I like that you can pull recipes from the app but it’s not really a “nutrition plan” that I can tell.

I just feel like I can do the same thing without these limitations on my own without the $42 annual subscription.

It’s “meh”, at best.

Missing key warm up drills
I have been using the app for about 3-4 weeks now. I love apps ease of use. I also love Jeff’s tips and coaching and that you can turn it off if desired. I am able to use my Tidal music if I start it prior to my workout. I have figured out that I can do any workout in any order even going to past weeks. I used the Jeff Galloway Half training on my Garmin and with this Garmin plan I was given coaching on his cadence drills and acceleration gliders. These were used as warm ups for most all my runs but on this app these drills are not included. Please add instruction on how to do these drills and include them in the warm ups. Also, very frustrating is the fact that the app does not integrate with my Garmin Fenix. I have to turn on my watch to record the more comprehensive running data and then turn on the app for the marathon training run. This is ridiculous that the Jeff Galloway app does not pull data from my Garmin. Finally, I cannot continue recording after completing a run. I would like to be able to have the choice to continue running/walking even after the scheduled training run is complete. Unfortunately, I will probably not resubscribe until the Garmin data can be integrated. This is a very important feature imo.

Issue with timing of the halfway point
I’ve been using Galloway apps for 5ks and 10ks for more than a decade and love the run walk run method and the beatsync for my music. I’ve been using this new iteration of the app for half marathon training and the announcement for the halfway point for outdoor runs is waaaaay off. I have to look at the app and try to figure out when I’m halfway. Today it told me I was at the halfway point when I had about 2.5 miles left on a 9.5 mile run. I’d give this app 5 stars if the mileage were consistent and accurate

Hopefully improves with updates
I love Jeff Galloway and have followed his techniques and advice for years. I own a couple of his books and have inspired family members to start running. I was thrilled when I heard this app was coming out but am disappointed with the results. The coaching from Jeff overlaps with the signals for running and walking, and the team Bree also set up in the training schedule don’t coincide with what the voiceover is talking about. I still don’t know what the difference is between a warmdown run and the 2 mile run before it or when they should be happening. On top of that, the maps/tracking is not super accurate so I don’t get a good gauge on what my time is (I usually run about a 10 min mile but the errors in the map say I run a shorter distance which equates to a faster time). I cancelled my subscription within 3 days of downloading. I truly how this app can fix some of these bugs and make this app the caliber we all expect from the Jeff Galloway brand, but for now I’ll go back to Runkeeper.

Finally running again
I have been running for about 9 years and took the last year off due to injury and illness. I was afraid to get back out there. I wanted to start slow. I never thought I would like the run/walk/run/walk, but it has helped me start slow and get my strength and endurance back. I started about 8 -10 weeks ago and just did a 10k and about 20 mins faster than I thought I would. I followed the program and it worked.
There are a couple things that I think need to be worked on, I think. I find that my runs get deleted easily. But I have my run on my watch on a different app, so it’s fine but I would love that to be fixed. I know there’s some things I haven’t figured out how to do yet…
Looking forward to my next 10k or half and training with Jeff on this app!

Confusing for Metric Users
Overall the app functions well. The coaching and walk/run prompts are good. The interface is easy to use. I don’t recall choosing whether the app shows paces and distance in miles or km during setup-I assume this option was pulled from the Apple Health app automatically. The issue is it’s confusing when calculating paces from my magic mile time. Everything shows in pace per km but requires you to enter the pace per mile for your magic mile. For example my magic mile time is 7:42 giving me an expected 5K race pace of 8:12/km. That’s over 40 minutes for a 5K. My last 5K practice time was 27:40. If this is the pace/mile then it makes sense but it is labelled as minutes/km. CONFUSING and it makes me question all the other recommended paces in the app. I might as well do the math by hand at this point.

I have four of his books. I purchased every LOLO program that used his method, accompanied by his tips and narration. I’ve had them for at least 10 years. I’ve never reached out support. Until last week. After receiving an email regarding the new program, I downloaded it. I had some question’s concerning licensing. So I wrote them. I haven’t heard back. It’s been a week. —————————-
I’m updating this review. I’m changing it from 1 star to 4. Why? Tech support has reached out to me and resolved my issues. That’s all you can ask for. I appreciate their commitment to service their legacy customers. After I use this version of the app, I may revisit and update to 5 stars. Thank you Tech Support

Distance still off after latest update
I’m a bit annoyed with the latest update. The voice used to just say “start running” or “start walking”. Now it adds every single time go for some number of seconds on top of that. Maybe just say it the first time? After that, there’s no need to interrupt the music with so many words. It would also be great if that was configurable to instead do a library of sounds instead of words.

Also, when is the watch app coming out? I imagine you’re getting close given you mentioned that you were working on it months ago. Anyway to be a beta tester?

Even with the latest quirk, really do love the training aspect of the app. Please keep going and get that watch app out!

Love this program
This app is great. The only problem I have had with it is that it’s too easy for me to delete a workout by accident, because of the location of the delete button, and no way to recover it. I just have to be more careful about not clicking delete. I reached out to support and they were very quick to respond. ***I enjoy the coaching queues from Jeff and have noticed a huge improvement in my running time and recovery. It has really changed the game for me.

Unstable and buggy product
Super disappointed. Another runner had Strava running next to this and I’ve been training with bad information. The splits were wrong, in a half marathon it turned out to be a mile off, when the app closes you cannot get back to your run. So many of my runs were deleted. The “halfway” is always wrong. I have no idea how that is computed. In a 30 min run it would say I was half way way before 15 minutes.

If I would have ran at the pace I was training at with Galloway with all of the bugs I would have had a DNF. This is upsetting as I trained for months on this app. Absolutely deleting it.

I wish Galloway would partner with a stronger development team especially for the price.
