Description

Welcome to Kilter - the world's most inclusive supporter engagement platform!

No matter your ability level, how you choose to stay active and healthy, how old or young you are, or where you are located in the world, Kilter enables you to turn your everyday activities into opportunities to raise money for the charities you care about most.

The free Kilter app allows you access to a number of different event programs: Non profit-hosted events, corporate donation matching, team-based company challenges, and virtual races & marathons.

Don’t see an event that interests you? Kilter also allows you to host your own events - just contact us to get started!

How it works:

Join an event to start competing on an interactive live leaderboard where you’ll earn points based on your activities, fundraise according to your wellness goals, and earn great prizes along the way!

You can compete by simply syncing your health tracking app & devices (Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Strava, Under Armor, Google Fit) to record your workouts, checking into a gym or studio, and/or manually entering activities in our app (all activities count - think yoga, meditation, volunteering, and even playing pickleball)!

Stay connected with your community by following the activities of your teammates, friends, and colleagues right in Kilter. Let them know they rock by hitting the rocks icon next to their activities (our own version of a “like”)!

a macedonian,
Fine for my use
First time I’ve done something like this and I’ve found it easy to use. The best part is how it syncs directly to my Garmin and I don’t have enter anything! One improvement would be to add swimming. A lot of triathletes use this but we get the same credit for a 1 Mile swim as a 1 mile walk. USAT has used the following conversions : Bike miles = x. Run miles = 3X . Swim miles = 10x. I thought these ratios were fair based on the effort required.

UPDATE: STILL Loving it!!!
Updated 7/22: I have been using the kilter app the past three weeks while participating in the Ignite virtual fitness challenge! This is my second event with using the Kilter app, and they made some great improvements since the first event I participated in. I am looking forward to my next kilter event!

I have been doing a virtual 5K for a few days now and have been loving the kilter app!! I am a very competitive person, so being able to earn points by doing different forms of exercise and then seeing me move up the leaderboard has been so fun!! The app has worked seamlessly and I am already thinking of an event I can create with my company!

Great way to stay active
The multiple modalities they allow to achieve your activity points for the day is great as it caters to much more than some other apps I’ve seen! The only thing I wish is for there to be a differentiating points for how much activity you are doing in a day (e.g. you get the base points for 2 miles but every extra mile beyond that gets you 10 more points or something like that). I also hope they add more apps they can connect with to track your activity, otherwise it’s user friendly app!

Great app for competitions
I had never used this app and was apprehensive at first to download another fitness app. But a friend of mine recommended it for integrating all your other apps and for being part of fitness challenges and competitions. It’s keeping me on track with working out and staying active and it’s incredibly easy to use. I really enjoy using it and I’ll continue to use in the future!

Good for Competitions; UI could be improved
Full disclosure - I’m writing this review to get a couple extra points in a competition I’m doing that uses the Kilter app.

This app is good for doing a fitness competition (currently doing one to raise money for a nonprofit in Chicago) but the UI could use some improvement. I like how it syncs with MapMyFitness and Apple Health, but I struggled to find how to manually enter other workouts. The leaderboard is a nice feature! Don’t know if I would continue to use this app if it wasn’t for this competition, but love the concept of gamifying fitness competition.

Decent tracking for good causes/rewards
Overall a good way to connect people and track activities for a cause. As a person who doesn’t need outside motivation to exercise, I would find it cumbersome to use on a regular basis, but for short term it’s fine. Integrates decently well with certain fitness apps but Apple activity is not (currently) supported. Twice I had to manually enter activities that should have automatically updated via MapMyRun.

Fun way to participate
I like using this app to connect with friends on a fundraising challenge. Syncing with Garmin Connect works well. It easy and fun to find friends participating in the same challenge and keep up/compete for points! I had a few questions about the event and the app and the Kilter support team was prompt and extremely helpful! I’ve never used one of these apps before but I really like what I am seeing!

One-Stop-Shop for HR
Our company has both a wellness department & an allotted annual donation budget. Kilter Rewards was able to marry the two seamlessly while also keeping our employees engaged & healthy. Company morale (and friendly competition) has increased and we’re really enabling our employees to live more balanced lifestyles!

Would definitely recommend to companies looking for some innovative ways to engage employees!

Good Foundation and Responsive Developers
Kilter recently redesigned their iOS app, marking a huge improvement in user experience. There are still a few tweaks to work out but the developers are extremely responsive and open to suggestions and improvements. Really enjoy the good-natured competition the app enables and looking forward to bringing home the trophy for local charities!
RunnerKath,
Inaccurate
I joined a challenge and logged more activities than it gave me credit for. They also set ridiculous minimums for activities you enter manually, which makes me wonder if anyone in development is actually an athlete. For example, to get credit for running, you must have at least 30 minutes. So anyone faster than a 10 minute mile doesn’t get credit for running a 5k.

Plus, it’s not intuitive to navigate. On some screens there is no way to get back other than hard closing the app.
