Saving a climb now records the setter's angle. That is the angle the climb was set at. The setter's angle can be seen in the change angle interface and in the climb info interface.

bertjevanderlee,
Love the Kilter Board / suggestions
I love the Kilter Board Home Wall and the app experience is great. But with most apps there are always opportunities for improvement based in user feedback.

When I’m training by myself I really like the timer feature to help pace my warmups. However, the app doesn’t run in the background which prevents me from using my phone with other apps. If I do this the timer stops until the Kilter Board app open.

I’d love to have a playlist type of feature to structure workouts more easily. I’d like to set specific problems in a sequence and timing. I can use tags but that is more cumbersome.

When ticking off a climb it would be nice to default the rating to whatever it currently is to avoid the extra scrolling. Most of the time I want to just accept the rating.

I’d also appreciate more reporting on climbing stats. Session length, distribution of climbs, etc to help with understanding of how to climb better.

I look forward to future app updates.

Great board, solid app
The Kilter Board is one of my favorite training tools, and with the route feature, it really takes the experience to the next level. There is always some room for improvement, and things I’d like to see include what others have already said: better visualizations around analyzing my sessions and some sort of benchmark system that helps establish a better baseline for how hard a grade should feel. Overall though, the app in its current state is really solid and never has any issue connecting to the board, loading climbs, or logging climbs.

Amazing App - for Kilter Board
This app is made for the KilterBoard and super easy to use. If you’re just using it for selecting pre-set problems and routes, it has a handy filter to find the exact type and difficulty of climb you want.

If you have a board or want to set problems, the setting function is very simple. Boulder problems are easy to set and change.

The new “route” feature is super cool and what sets it apart from other training boards.
The route function lets you set multiple “frames” of a climb to make a follow-the-leader type of climb that can be used for setting circuits and true route-length climbs.

The KilterBoard was already next level, but with the functionality of the Aurora app, it’s solidified itself as the BEST training board available.

Customer support is also super helpful and easy to contact. They are also always looking to make improvements, so it’ll keep getting better!

Ranking System and Benchmarks
I think this is a great concept that has improved a lot on the other boards like MoonBoard and Tension. The big problem and why this company could fail and never grow is this Application!! No ranking system or approved Benchmarks?? Please add ranking system and Benchmarks so we can have some fun competition and stay more motivated with our fellow climbers… If a ranking and point system is added this Application and Board would get 5 Stars!! 😎

Update: they are working on Verified Climbs and a ranking system update for the application!! It’s about to be game over other boards…
dapjang,
Great board, app has some room for improvement
I love the board and the app also works nicely when connecting and tagging problems. Places where it could improve is in the logs, a histogram of the number of problems per grade would be nice (sort of like moonboard). Also when creating problems it would be nice to have the save button save to some kind of draft folder or have the problems show up locally only (where it can still be edited) then publish to the main database more explicitly.

Anyway great work so far! Thank you~

Training Has Never Been Easier
I spent years training on the Moonboard back when you had to print out each individual problem from their website, three-hole punch it, and put it into a binder if you wanted to access problems from the data base.

The way this app functions to make training better and more time efficient feels like cheating. The more I dig around the app and pay attention to all the features and small details the more impressed I am.

Love the Kilter Board, the App Needs Benchmarks
The Kilter Board itself is an incredible training tool. The problems inherently lie with using the app.

The best comparison is the Moonboard app, which has built in functionality for benchmarks. I think this is something the Kilter board truly needs to be great, a systematic approach to grade progression that you can test yourself on. As it stands right now, Kilter Board grades can fluctuate wildly based on the angle the board is set at, and it’s not always apparent what angle the grade was intended for.

Climbs change grade based on the angle, but it’s buried in menus. It would be great to have a set of benchmarks for each angle and grade, that you could work through.

Displaying and creating problems works fairly well though.

Overall the app works fine for putting problems up on the board, I just wish it had benchmarks. I think that would accelerate the board to the de-facto best training board around.

Bluetooth doesn’t work, great board though
The Board itself is amazing. Love the problems on it. A lot of variety. Holds feel amazing. I do have a pretty big issue however. I am unable to connect to the board at all through Bluetooth. When I try to send a problem to the board it always says that I need to enable bluetooth in the settings. I go to my setting to turn Bluetooth on but there is no option to connect to the kilter board. It works fine on all of my friends phones, just not mine. Would be 5/5 if I could connect

Great app for a great board
The AP is easy to use, and does exactly what you need it to do, controlling the board. It is easy for multiple people to switch control back and forth to different phones by tapping the light icon. More functionalities and stats are added all the time, for people who want to track their progress in detail.
Rumi roo,
Great app for a great board
I love using the Kilter app at the gym. So easy to climb together with friends even if we want to get on different climbs. I love the tagging feature and use it to make lists of all the climbs I enjoy or want to get on later (or avoid lol). Appreciate how open the developers are to feedback and always working to make improvements so thanks!
