Description

Create your own epic saga of conflict, mythology, and community! This acclaimed game of magical storytelling blends interactive stories and resource management. It’s set in Glorantha (the world of RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and 13th Age).

It’s immensely replayable, thanks to over 575 interactive scenes and two objectives. Short episodes and automatic saving mean you can play even when you only have a minute or two. The built-in saga writes down the story for you. And advisors with distinctive personalities help you track your cows.

The gorgeous hand-painted artwork won Best Visual Arts at the second Independent Games Festival.

• Everything in the game is utterly convincing and even years after release, the possibilities seem endless. (One of the 5 best strategy games ever made) [Rock, Paper, Shotgun]
• It's like they took the best parts of Civilization games and combined them with the best part of Choose Your Own Adventure style game books. … What I like most about King of Dragon Pass is the seemingly infinite possibilities that the game has. … I can't get enough of King of Dragon Pass. [Touch Arcade]
• A wholly unique adventure that has no equal on the iPhone. [Pocket Gamer]
• An interactive story with a level of complexity and brilliance that's rarely seen in video games. [Gamezebo]

Players say:
• I am really happy to have found this game. It scratches so many itches: simulator, rpg, adventure book...Great work! I find myself playing it on both my iPad and iPhone. Very addictive!
• I got this game at 6pm tonight. It's now 4am, and I've hardly scratched the surface of the depth of this game.
• I now have a fun, engaging, thought provoking RPG on my iPhone, an RPG that fits in my purse and that I can play any time I want, not having to have my computer or Xbox 360 near me to do so.
• If Bioware remade Civilization they'd be lucky to end up half as good as King of Dragon Pass.
• It's impossible to describe the emotional tug you feel when an old and trusted advisor, who you've watched grow from a young upstart, dies of old age. Or when an exploration team disappears into the wilds, never to be heard from again. Or when a cursed clansman, shunned by his peers, sacrifices himself to stop a raid. This game will never leave my iPhone. That's the only accolade possible.

The game is completely accessible via VoiceOver.

SpaceRangerAce,
Rivals the Depth and Lore of Skyrim. Incredible.
So no everyone is going to agree on the title, that's fine. This game lets you dive into a Nordic culture where the spirits, gods and sacrifices make a profound difference in the life of your kinsmen. This game has 600+ frames of artwork and hundreds upon hundreds of unique events. Decisions that happen two years ago may bring prosperity or run. One of the more fascinating aspects is the hero questing, where a leader travels to the lands of the gods and pays homage. This event is the highlight of the year for your tribe and can bring great blessing or your leader can come home in pieces. It also makes you wonder about your ethics if you were a tribal leader. Raid and pillage your neighbor every fall? Clearly... They came to your clan hall and dropped a duce in front of your throne (true story). Moreover, it's a world that not clearly understood by any of the characters, leading to the mystery. Enjoy the music and some of the most complex gameplay you'll find in the App Store. The learning curve is there but worth the investment.
NCrossette,
Basically the best game I've ever played.
I cannot express how much I love this game. It's extremely in depth and the replay value is amazing. I don't think it's actually $10 I think you'll be charged much less, but either way it's worth it. It's a large (100mb) file, but you can play it offline. There are no ads, and absolutely no disappointments. It's a better layout on an IPad, but the game is the same on my phone. I run two games very different from each other on my two devices. Great game for getting a 12+ kid interested in reading. Has the feel of a fantasy book like dragon lance novels, with the control of civilization. It is choose your own adventure style, but unlike other games that basically end up the same no matter what you decide, this game has tons of different paths to victory and defeat. Mad props to the creator of this game. I pray for the gods to bless them and for them to be inspired to add more or create a second sage or prequel.
Patorikkudozzu,
Great Fantasy Game
This game introduced me to the fantastic world of Glorantha. You take control of a clan that's part of an of Anglo-Saxon inspired folk known as the Storm Tribe. Gods and spirits have a great impact on daily life in Dragonpass, and you'll find yourself sacrificing silver, cattle, maybe even thrills to keep them happy. Many common fantasy races are present as allies or adversaries, but with a unique twist. Take the nomadic riders of Prax, who are forbidden from riding horses so they ride fantastic beasts such as antelope, rhinos, elephants, etc. Elves exist as xenophobic plant-men. Dwarves have a culture and society that is highly foreign to humanity. True dragons have the power of gods. Dragon-folk exist as the Dragonewts, creatures that evolve into more advanced forms, eventually becoming dragons over the eons, and reincarnate into new bodies as they die. Trolls are a race gifted with immortality and great strength, but cursed with infertility. This setting has such a rich and intriguing lore, it is well worth the time and monetary investment.
ColtonRayLakes,
Crashing now. I don’t understand...
Just recently bought Six Ages and have been playing it for the last few days. Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem I’m experiencing but I’ve picked King of Dragon Pass back up and it will not let me view tribes in my relations screen or access it via the map screen. When I do try to view tribes it crashes the whole game and takes me back to my phones home screen. I’m at loss... it never did this before. Could it be an iOS update that messed it up? Please get back to me concerning this as I would appreciate it, immensely. Really enjoyed playing KoDP. Was a five star game, current problem withheld

UPDATE: Thank you so much for correcting the issues and in such a timely manner, developers. You’re appreciated greatly!
Brautigan25,
My favorite iOS game
More than any other game, I keep coming back to this one and playing it over and over. Six Ages (a sort of prequel in the same vein) is a great game, too, but something about the original holds my attention more. Great replayability, no button mashing, story-driven yet flexible, immersive with tons of great little flourishes and touches. You can effectively play as “hard core” as you want, but also can reset the game back to its automatic save point (once every year - or 10 turns) for any prior completed year in your clan’s history.

This is also a great treatment of the Glorantha source material and a great entry point to that world or a “must have” for anyone who discovered the RPG(s) or other games first.
Super man9999,
Addicting in an annoying way
I tried to play this game several times and failed and kept trying. The process took time, but eventually I got everything that I needed to know. however, on my last try, I became prosperous. I built a new tribe, became as strong as I can be, and my enemies feared me. Even when they ganged up on me, it was hopeless. But somehow, the trolls destroyed my clan from the inside out. I had no idea what happened, and I wasn’t able to do a thing about it. The people wanted to disband my clan even when I tried my best to make things right again. This game is annoyingly difficult and too stressful for its own good. You get addicted to it for a couple of days only to find out that all you’ve done was wasting your time and end up losing. This is not even in hard mode either. Take my advice and don’t waste your time and money buying this game.
Luckithroe,
Thinking men rejoice!!
Update: 2017 and this is still without question the best entertainment app in the store. I will have an iDevice as long as it is. I'm amazed they even released more content. This game has so much replay ability. Get it, now!

I am so happy to have found this game. I am incredibly surprised by the depth and can't put it down. I wish there were more games on this level of awesomeness for the busy minded.

P.S. Don't listen to the derp who claims it's not worth the money because he only played through it 4 or 5 times. A play through can easily take you 30+ hours. A good play though much, MUCH longer.
The Don of New York,
Solid game
There was clearly a massive amount of work put into developing the lore for this game. And once you know it, it is extremely immersive.

However, that is the drawback. You have to commit a couple hours to reading the manual and lore to know what you are doing. You cannot play this game blind and have any chance of winning. The advice from the advisors is useless since between them they will recommend every option.

Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoyed the game, but it was a lot of work getting ready to play. I never really enjoyed the hero quests though since it felt like trial and error to figure out the right choices, and once you did, you could do them over and over again easily.
Lord Shieshvunu,
Best text based game I've ever played
If your looking for a game with a proper story and true immersive gameplay, then download this game. You will spend countless hours diving into the lore of the game and creating a story truly made by your actions. Unlike other games that say your choice influences the outcome of the game but barely does this one truly truly does. Also the game can go from extremely serious (being raided by chaos monsters who can lay waste to your most elite men) to light hearted humor (meeting duck warriors who want their stolen eggs back lol). Overall, in my opinion, this is the best app game out there.
Preiman790,
I like the game, but issues
I want to rate 5 stars but I can't. Depth of gameplay is fantastic and the game itself is very, almost surprisingly fun. That all being said, when you advertise your game as fully playable with VoiceOver, I expect that to be true. The map is frustrating at best, navigation order on several screens leaves much to be desired, we need a more precise way to adjust numerical values and in several cases, vital text is missing, leaving you to make a choice with no information.. This last can be disastrous, and comes up most often during quests.
With a little work a 5 star app easily, but right now, I feel 3 is more than generous.
