Karl San Francisco,
System good, App terrible
I’ve had my Lorex wired system (LHA4108) for over 2 years, and it has worked reliably. We live in a low crime area, with little activity, so I had little need for the app. However, with our increased level of home deliveries due to Covid, I started using the mobile app to see when a delivery was being made. SETUP: The App was able to connect quickly with my system, and I was up and running in under 5 minutes. ALERTS: Alerts arrive within ~5 seconds of the activity. When I drive up to our home, I consistently receive an alert before I park my car. I’ve been tracking this for over 6 months, and the alerts are very consistent and reliable. NO SPAM: I really like that I typically get 1 alert per event. My parents have an Arlo device and they sometimes have 10 alerts in 60 seconds. This never happens with Lorex. Why 4 and not 5 stars? The thing I find the most frustrating is the recording load time. The alert is timely, but then I wait about 15 seconds for the video recording to load. When I’m at home, I find it faster to walk over to the window.
Lightmaster Lorax,
Upgraded system
I got my first Lorex system a number of years ago and replaced it with an updated version about 2 years ago. The wireless cameras have worked flawlessly and the Lorex app has worked well. It takes a few seconds to load a current view but that may be slow internet connection. The only reason it is not 5 stars is the ability to send a still captured from the cameras is clunky and sometimes takes several attempts (and other times they are sent with no problems). The motion sensor notification works well, and the ability to disable it remotely when you know people are in the area is a great feature.
Mamaschuk,
Good Wireless System
We live in rural area. I did a lot of research & this product was the best, most affordable option. We’ve had our (2) Lorex cameras for about 3 years. The signals are strong, even though 1 camera is about 100 yards away, on our pole barn, from the recording device & antennae. Reason for 3 stars is due to 3 things. A) Audio has never worked.
B)Twice, when a major update or something was needed, it wouldn’t download, load or system won’t “reboot” & their customer service isn’t knowledgeable AT ALL with regards to iPhones. (My alerts come to my iPhone.) I have to pay a 3rd party computer service to get downloads to a PC & then somehow to my phone. (Not sure what they all do but they get it back up.)
C) About 1-2 times per year, I stop getting alerts. Recordings stop. Cameras are stuck on a date 1-2 weeks prior. It’s trial & error on my part getting them to work again. I’m super busy & immediately know alerts aren’t coming in but don’t have time to do all the “fiddling”. (Reboot. Restart.) Sometime it just takes doing all that 2-3 times & then they start working again.
LASTLY- I will say the solar panels work fabulous for both cameras. No glitches or issues there! Even in harsh MN winters, panels & cameras are durable & continue to work. (Until they don’t as mentioned above!)
Would buy again.
**Wish there customer service reps were not off-shore & were versed on all operating system platforms. So, 3 stars.

Convoluted UI, Can’t Save Videos Directly From The Base Unit, Poor Video Resolution Saving
I searched long and hard for a wireless system to replace my no longer supported VAVA. I thought the good reviews and hefty price tag of the L4248D 2K system would be a nice little upgrade.

1. The app goes straight to live view when opening the app or clicking a notification. This doesn’t make sense for those with battery operated cameras. Why doesn’t it go to the saved video that you’re being notified about? So just opening the app kills the cameras’ battery life.

2. Navigating this app is convoluted. Going into the captures has an East / west scrolling timeline of events instead of a list. It’s like trying to scroll through one long video to try to find the video you’re actually looking for. It takes a long time to scroll to find the video you want.

3. In order to save a video to my phone I first have to record the already saved video on my app and then save it to my phone. I should be able to click on the thumbnail in the gallery and save it directly to my phone. On top of that, the video output is 720p and 1080p with the cameras being directly plugged into power and 3 bars of reception. The entire reason I purchased this system was for the video output of 1440p, it’s literally the key marketing item of the cameras.

I give this app 2 stars because technically I suppose it works and it gets a bonus for having the tiles for the multiple camera live view.
JdubLBC,
Reply to developer
So, the developer replied to my initial review and suggested that it may be a connectivity issue and that I should context tech support. This reply just downgraded them to one star. The first thing I did was contact tech support. Again, the old app had a function to put the cameras in privacy mode. When I switched to the new app, channel 6 was left in privacy mode. The new app did not allow me to change it out of privacy mode as there is no toggle button in the new app. Therefore, it has been stuck in privacy mode. The camera works and is connected, as when I’m in the main menu -> settings -> Display -> camera setting -> Ch 6, I can see the live feed on my main monitor. The NVR 4K however does not have the ability to take it out of privacy mode. Only the previous version app did. When I display the channel, the screen explicitly states “privacy mode!” I can switch the Ethernet to another port, and the live feed is then displayed. However, ch 6 is still listed in privacy mode with the other camera plugged in. Again, fix the app!!
Blake Woody,
Works perfect for me
I’ve had the LHB927 since July 2020. Love it! This app has always worked flawlessly for me. A lot easier to navigate when it comes to watching motion recordings. The new update is confusing at first (just b/c it’s completely different than the older version.) but it works great and I really like what they did. It’s better and easier to navigate once you play around on it for a few minutes. Bottom line the app works for me and fills my wants in a security system. It notifies me when motion is detected on the cameras I want it to and I’m able to see the recording instantly. ( Well as soon as I swipe the notification.) You are able to watch live feed as well. Just downloaded it! It’s pretty much your only option and you’ll be happy you did.

These cameras are the best that I have come across, they are so easy to install, they have come a long ways with the wireless cameras, I purchased one of their first wireless cameras back in 2001, the cameras sucked big time! Returned them immediately and just went with the wired ones, which work great, and as of 2018 we purchased the new wireless ones, best investment ever! Clear view, best reception, love these cameras! Cameras are well worth every dollar! I Guarantee you that you will not regret purchasing these cameras, they have 24/7 support system if you have any questions whatsoever! Well I think you get the picture, let me leave you with this thought how much do you value your life and your home?
hynobev,
Two Issues
First, it is not clear when you try to exclude a part of the picture from motion detection which way it works. Is it the area that is unshaded that is blocked for motion detection or the area that is shaded that is blocked from motion detection? We have bushes that blow in the breeze, and no matter how we set it up they seem to constantly give us notifications of motion. so we need to know, explicitly how to block those bushes from giving us notifications of motion. Secondly, it would be very very helpful If you were to put an option in the app to be able to turn cameras off and on so that if there is something going on in the area, you could turn it off, so you’re not getting 100 notifications of motion. We have LHB926 so make any changes applicable to that model as well.
CJTraider,
Sensitivity Settings
I’m very pleased with the camera system although I do have a couple settings I’m not sure how to adjust ! 1. Sensitivity! Is # 1 or #6 the most sensitive ?? 2. When I get a notification does the system record the incident ? If I delete the notifications does that delete the recordings ??? Camera #4 when I pull up notifications for that camera it always says no recording found ??? Lastly camera # 2 is constantly switching the night vision lights on and off so the view goes from black and white night view to nearly total darkness !! Please help with these issues ! If they can be resolved ! Best Product Ever !
Yakkkk,
It Works!
I’ve used this app for several years and as various “ updates” were released I found the functionality wander up and down. While the app generally always worked, previous versions left me less than impressed. However, the current version (2.2.0) has greatly improved my ability to used the app as designed. Using the app to check security camera or review previous recordings is greatly has greatly improved. It connects to the cameras faster even during a recent visit to the continent of Africa where the WiFi connection was less than stellar. Great job Lorex.
