Favorite strategy game right here
As a person who plays LOTS of war/strategy games, of them all this one is hands down my top 1 or 2 in my favorites- not only is it extremely fun, but having gotten Escalation as well and here having all the extra levels, every penny is worth it. Overall, the mechanics are well balanced and the game plays out smoothly, and the game really takes a good level of thinking to play. The scenario creator as well is very seamlessly good and is also very well made, and I overall find the whole game very fun, even after you’ve beaten everything. Though for me personally, the best part about the game was when new levels (like Azure Dam or Opium Fields) would drop, as they added a whole new level of gameplay to discover and the playing of them are a lot more fun than the base. The only thing I would overall think would need to be improved in the game is Opium Fields should be slightly nerfed on Mega Brutal, as it’s a big jump in difficulty, and also to have some more new levels would be really great, maybe something similar to Azure Dam. A good idea I had seen as well was of a level where the President is helping the insurgents with military forces, and so you have to plan through initiatives and pop-ups how you would assassinate him. A few suggestions, but overall, really amazing game, and this is definitely a MUST for anyone who’s into strategy/war games, and although a little complicated at first, it’s really fun once you get into it.

Good Game, nerf insurgents
The game is extremely well polished, the design is simple and strong. But the insurgents are way too powerful. When I block out insurgents from escaping and have another unit destroying them they push on my blocking units. Once they get repelled the insurgents don’t go back to where they came from, they just walk through my troops like nothing happened. Also, it is extremely annoying (and unfair) that once I stop insurgents in one area and make sure for the red goes away I relocate my troops to stop the next insurgents, 5 seconds later they just reappear at the area I just cleared. And now my reputation is down halfway. Also, the mountain map’s descriptions says that the only way around is through the valley, a whole bunch of lies. The game would be more interesting if you can’t travel through mountains (neither can insurgents) So the choke point would actually be important to take, the mountains are a huge pain to deal with.

Also, After beating the mountain level I’ve noticed that I had been doing it wrong the whole time. Also, I’m not the best tactician so that might have contributed.

Fun game, couple changes could make it better
This game is very fun and engaging for a mobile game. However I must say that some mechanics in the game are very challenging to deal with and make some matches next to impossible to win. Any match that only allows coalition soldiers is beyond frustrating to deal with since they only have a limited deployment time before being sent home and no reputation can survive more than a few deployment extensions. I find this quite unrealistic considering that I will be engaged in very heavy fighting and suddenly have no choice but to send a unit home, losing reputation from that zone being “retreated from” and now being down one more unit. I know for a fact the United States didn’t pull its troops out randomly when they were needed the most until 2021 when that changed. The other questionable mechanic is the fact that you can have 4 units surrounding an insurgent pocket and yet somehow they can still slip away through the one uncovered zone. I get that insurgents can be very resilient and sneaky, however I think there should still be a chance all are eliminated considering the overwhelming force around them. One more frustrating thing is when you will secure a zone and then randomly the 300 insurgents out of a 20k population zone with thousands supporting the operation somehow establish a camp, forcing resources to be diverted. Beyond frustrating.

Thoughtful take on a complex topic and an engaging game too!
Despite the simple interface, there’s quite a lot to this game. Learning it is a real joy as you’re forced to grapple with some real life decisions where the morally “right” answer might cause more problems than a messy compromise. The game’s economy is pretty well balanced too and I constantly find myself wanting to buy two or three upgrades, but only having the money for one. It forces you to prioritize, which is really the meat of the game. The push and pull between the military affairs in the war and the civilian “hearts and minds” is excellently captured, as committing too much to one of the other will result in a mission loss from the other. It’s all about striking the right balance.
That being said, there is an optimal build/tactic order in the game, and once you figure it out, the game becomes relatively trivial even on the hardest difficulty. But, there are plenty of achievements to go after. And, the bonus maps they’ve been adding to the game include extra stressors that can mix it up even the dominant strategy.
Best of all, this is a game with unlocks! You can shortcut them with money, but if you want to see everything for only your initial buy in, that’s possible! Highly recommend on that business practice alone.

This game will not able to profit by just selling $1.99. So many elements are involved. Governmental problems like corruption, reputation, and civil support are involved. Military factors like civil army and united army are involved. You can also use tons of fun tactics in response to the local landscape. It’s also fun to find a perfect balance between civil hope and government requirements in your way to the union. You can literally do EVERYTHING in this $1.99 game!

However, the insurgents are still too overpowered, and they don’t seem like they could be tamed at all without the players’ tactics. Well-designed strategy game
This game is very fun and has quite a lot of depth to it. Beating the main maps on brutal or mega-brutal requires a healthy understanding of the games systems, but often also a lot of good RNG. You'll eventually stumble into Pravus' standard build that, with limited exceptions, is required in order to win on mega-brutal. There are simply some advisors that are better than others and some initiatives that are more broadly necessary than others. So eventually games all start feeling relatively the same, but there is a lot of improvisation that you'll have to do in your exact build path in order to respond to the particular map you're playing and the rng you're getting. The maps and governors are not particularly balanced, in that some maps are easy to beat with any governor even on the mega-brutal and others are nigh impossible to beat with any governor without perfect rng. Governors like the General and the Tank Commander are also very obviously significantly worse than others like the Smuggler. These balancing issues and many RNG-dependent systems are my main complaints, but overall the game is great and offers a lot of value for a phone game.

Enjoyably difficult, please make a medieval one...
Big fan of Plague Inc. and was surprised at how different this game is in comparison. Similar yet, different enough to feel fresh and not like a copy pasta that so many other games do these days. It’s absurdly difficult though and my manhood won’t allow me to drop the difficulty. So if you do get this one, and I recommend you do, be ready to be kept busy while you’re playing. You’ll have to learn how to balance your three investment trees or you won’t get anywhere. Plus the rebels keep you fairly busy when they show up and ignoring them just makes things really bad. You should also be made aware that, while other complain about how the game makes them feel obligated to purchase the advisors for unlock, it isn’t necessary. You can earn them, it just takes time and maybe a few minutes of banging your head into a wall. It’s a good way to help support the devs if you do decide to buy into them though, so it’s really a win win. You get your advisors and the dev gets what they need to keep developing.
Now, please make something medieval....I really want to see the spin you guys can put on it like you have with PI and RI. I think that’d be awesome to see from you guys. Of course do what the market demands. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Built to make you pay more
This game is extremely difficult. I think it’s almost impossible. I haven’t seen anyone getting past the 3rd level. As for me I’m on the second level using the second character you get which is terrible, you think that beating the first level would warrant an upgrade or an actual reward. Instead the game is made harder so that you’ll want to spend money to unlock everything. The insurgents are kill happy and will surround you and kill you before you are even remotely prepared to fight back, so you’ll have to sit there and watch them gain a massive amount of territory while your soldiers are being trained. Even when you do get the soldiers trained if you use the coalition soldiers (which as this point you’re basically forced to) they will betray you and ask to leave when you are finally making progress and you’ll either forfeit reputation or just let your territory be taken over by the endless droves of insurgents. The best answer the devs are gonna give anyone with the problem is to go to reddit and find the only solution to winning that level. I might actually have been persuaded to buy something as I did with plague inc. how it has unique and fun things you can unlock but you can still play the game normally and have just as much fun. Just because I know the game is built around micro transactions I’m not gonna buy any.

Very Good But Also Ludicrous
I've been playing Rebel Inc. nearly since the day it was released and I haven't stopped playing it. It's a very good and innovative game with a high replay value. Concept, graphics and sounds are superb. You will be challenged, defeated and eventually hear yourself curse. This game takes time to master. A lot of time... I have completed all maps with all governors on Brutal mode. Currently on Mega Brutal mode, but it feels like the Ndemic devs or James Vaughan was that annoying kid that always tries to devise last minute super powers to outclass yours. Mega Brutal mode is so made up that it stops being fun. E.g. You have all, I repeat, ALL Civilian, Government and Military initiatives. Support level is high, Inflation and Corruption almost none. Stability at 96% Reputation over 70. You have insurgents surrounded on one side. Out of nowhere, insurgents appear on the other side of the map and you're left off chasing them until you direct them towards the other surrounded insurgents, a corner or simply wait for the Peace agreement. My point is, Brutal mode was fun because it actually made you think and followed some real world rules. Mega Brutal makes no sense even after you've won.

I have a very nerdy take on this app. If you’re interested in American foreign policy and/or the history of places like Afghanistan (which this app is de facto based upon), then you’ll find this app very thought provoking.
One key point is that, in some ways, Rebel Inc seems to think about itself as a game, offering the “player” rewards for achieving “victory.” But in practice it is what it says it is—a counterinsurgency simulator. There is not always a way to win the game, because there is not always a way to stabilize a war-torn region. In these reviews, I see a lot of people complaining that it is sometimes impossible to “win.” They’re right, but that’s only a complaint if you’re thinking of this app as a game and not a simulator. While there are some satisfying gameplay mechanics to be found here, the real value of this simulator is 1) the way it forces you to reckon with the real paradoxes of counterinsurgency strategy, and 2) the way it offers some thought experiments on what combinations of political, military, and civilian efforts might lead to counterinsurgency successes depending on the circumstances.
Personally, I found this simulator very worthwhile, and I’m surprised someone had the guts to make it.
