ChedaLynMartis,
I love the idea, but this is crap
I really wanted the Rythmn to work mostly because I wanted an optical that could do HR and HRV, but I haven’t been able to use this one time. The fact that you have to use the app to switch between HR and HRV working be so bad if the app could keep tabs on the monitor. I tried setting it up through the app, but the moment I connect the monitor to anything else the app stops seeing it. Won’t search. For some reason, my iPhone won’t “forget” the monitor. So, other apps can see it when the Scosche app doesn’t, but the other apps can’t use it (HRV app and running app). I contacted Scosche and got a somewhat “listen stupid” response. I asked if the problems I had were normal or perhaps a bad sensor (so I knew if I should return it while I could), but no help. I’m sending it back.
mgarbowski,
Essentially worthless
What a disgrace. It lets you "save" workouts to the app, but the saved file disappears when the monitor is not connected to the phone. That's useless. Also, the app won't open the file so you can't see what's in it, and it connects to precious few apps that supposedly do open the file, and so far nothing works. I've "connected" the app to the Apple HealthKit, but the workout I recorded does not transfer over so I can't read it there. I cannot find any iPhone apps that will open it. I exported the workout, and it saves as a "*.fit" file that no programs on my Mac can open. The documentation is useless and says nothing about this. It does not connect to My FItness Pal which is one of the best most universal fitness and diet apps out there. I tried connecting to something called "Today's Plan," which shows up as an option in the Scosche app, but that software is, if anything, even more useless and poorly coded than the software for this device. Nice device. Junk software. And without good software the device is junk too.
jraper,
BOTH the device and app work as expected
I bought my Rhythm+ June of 2017.

Ok, there are a ton of negative reviews on here, which I believe are a tad unfair. I sync the strap with my watch (presently a TomTom Runner), and it just plain works. Occasionally the HR will measure low, but during the course of my runs, it is rock solid. As for the app, I only use it to make sure that my firmware is current (which has only needed an update 1 time - I’ll get to that in a minute), and to check the battery level to see if it needs charging. I basically charge the unit once per week.

I am actually now on my second Scosche HRM.

The first one (purchased in 2017) needed a firmware update, but (on the ORIGINAL app, not this one) following all of the guidance from the app and from tech support, it simply would not update. The tech support team advised me that it wasn’t really a necessary update, but if desired, they would replace my unit with a new one that had been updated. I opted to swap it out and have had no issues since. (This was in July/August 2019).

Do I wish we could do more in the App? Sure, but my main focus as a distance runner is knowing what my HR is doing during my training and long distance runs. Anything more than that is just a bonus.
JeffDBoston,
The Rhythm24 device works great, app meh but it’s not really needed
Title says it all, I have been very happy with the device over the last couple of years. As other reviewers mentioned, I only run this app to check on new firmware and update. That’s it. It’s picky, and you need to make sure nothing else is using it at the time you run the app so it will connect. But once you do it works fine.

I’ve run into a couple bugs setting my preferences but worked around them.

Bottom line is I absolutely would recommend the HR monitors from Scosche and unless you have some situation that requires this app then go right ahead it’s solid. Support was good as well, they replaced my original device way out of warranty and I use it a lot.
BeGoneWithYou,
FRUSTRATING! Next to Worthless.
The actual device works fine, I guess, but the app is next to worthless. We have two of the hardware pieces for our Peloton bike and they sync up with that consistently but when I want to go out for a run 9 times out of 10* it won’t sync up. I’ve even had both devices on both arms beeping away, synced to my iPhone, restarted the app, restarted the phone, looked in vain for an update, all to no avail. IT’S THE COMPANY’S OWN APP! Not some third party! C’mon guys!

*I never know if it’s going to work, sometimes it will catch and start and then drop off. Aaarghh!!!
Tim2me,
Disappointed. Returning the HRM.
I got the Rhythm+ for Christmas. After charging it up, the app tells me I have to update the monitors software. When I try to update the software through the app, it fails. Then tells me to run the heart rate monitors battery down to zero, charge for 2 mins, and try again... 8-10 hours later... I follow the instructions and it fails to upload again. I did this several times, and it failed each time.

I asked for this to use with my Peloton. It won’t connect. Maybe it would connect to the bike after the software update...? Who knows.

The app itself is as basic as it gets. Basically one screen that shows your current heart rate.

Crashes when you try to share recorded data
What’s the point of recording data if I can’t share it to my training apps?? App crashes everytime I try to share with TrainingPeaks. What a piece of trash app.

Also your “recording data” doesn’t record based on my HR zones, which I set manually and updated the monitor with those metrics, supposedly. Like the record on the device is literally useless if it uses the incorrect HR zones.
Ändrew,
Working for me!
Despite the overall negative reviews of this app I really wanted to adjust my zones. I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, I was easily able to connect to my Rhythm24 and update it’s firmware. I was not able to find any bugs and everything worked like I expected it too. I hope you have the same experience.
Dodo von Dodo,
Simple accurate heart beat app
I don‘t understand the bad reviews. Love this app. Simple, to the point. Didn‘t need to sign in, just download the app, turn on bluetooth, click the connect, and off I went.

I just compared my old Scosche Rhythm to the heart rate monitor on an Apple watch 6. A perfect match. Same readings. Could not be happier.
WriterJamie,
Brand new device and the app isn’t functional
I just bought my first device from this company, and I can’t even get it to work. The app is so buggy that it is completely unusable. Most of the menu items don’t even work. And, it doesn’t look like the app has even been updated in the past year. Is this company even still in business?
