Tclev228,
Purchasing PRO is 1000% Worth It
Hey all! Relatively new DM here.

Some sounds don’t sound complete or you can hear the break when they loop. That said, there are still so many background sounds, music, and sound effect, plus it allows for you to upload and play your own music and sounds! Incredibly customizable. With the PRO version (for a one-time cost of $10), I can layer multiple atmospheres (think horse-drawn cart + summer wind + thunderstorms) as well as having some SFX (falling tree, lightning strike, large explosion) queued up in the quick-access buttons for quick surprises (also available with the free version).

I find the “Play in Background” feature of the PRO version to be indispensable. I love the recent update with the automatic cross fade between switching sounds, which makes the whole experience sound much cleaner. I have no trouble balancing running great ambiance and music while juggling my other, more important DM responsibilities. I highly recommend this app!!
Roarinku,
TL;DR Great for iPhone, not so much for iPad Pro
I’ve had this app for about 10 months on my iPhone and have used it A LOT while DMing a campaign with my friends. I love the variety of sounds and the ability of use my own music is nice too, I haven’t upgraded to pro yet (will explain why below) but love the set of features listed. I just wish there was better iPad Pro support.

I just recently got a 10.5” iPad Pro and thought this would be a great chance to upgrade to pro. That way I could use RPG Fantasy as the slide over app, allowing me to quickly change the ambiance and then hide the app so I can use other DM apps in landscape split view. Unfortunately, I discovered this app only supports portrait mode. No landscape, no split view, no slide over. Because of this, I don’t think I’ll upgrade to pro. Even with how great this was on iPhone, I don’t want to use more than one device behind my DM screen–just a matter of personal preference.

I know programming takes time and money, and iPad Pro users are probably a small/almost nonexistent user base. Thus, these features are not priority. If landscape/split view/slide over features were added this app would be PERFECT for all use cases, and purchasing pro version would be definitely recommended.
HannahFuqua04,
Really great but I’m having some trouble
Absolutely amazing app, I caved and bought the full version lol. But even in the free version the amount of sounds available is incredible! I am having trouble importing custom sounds, but let’s be honest that’s probably because I’m doing something wrong haha. It would be nice if instead of, even in the pro version, a set number of additional tracks for each type of track, you could decide which of those slots were which type of track; since I’m usually not using more than one ambiance and music, but I am using a whole bunch of effects and (ideally, if I can ever work it out) custom sounds. Thanks for making the app its incredible!
Tacitus, Prelate of the Legion,
Pretty much exactly what i was looking for
Im starting to DM and i noticed during other games that even a simple background sound will add a depth to the sessions. This does pretty much exactly what i need it to. You can have a background sound say a quiet forest overlaying a gentle rain, then you can through in the hooting of an owl. Its really nice.

Now time for the reason why it only got 3 stars. Some of the sounds that are included are looped at bad intervals. The beat will be off transitioning from the end of the sound to the beginning. Im not particularly gifted in music but that little bit of OCD i have in the back of my mind finds the poor transitioning really annoying. This doesnt happen with all the included music and ambiance but enough to be noticable.

I know i can fix this problem just by loading some stuff from outside the app but im lazy and its little things like these that take the shine off an otherwise stellar product.
Soundwave233,
As a DM for 3 years
This is honestly one of the best apps I have ever used. Its easy to navigate and has most things that a Gm could want. I have been using the free version so a little under 2 years and recently decided I would buy the pro. It was very much worth the money. Multiple sounds and atmospheres is fantastic and the addition to add custom sounds is great though it is not that easy. The instructions could use some updating. Anyone who reads this I would highly recommend you use the free version for as long as you like and to see if you would like to invest. To the developers I would ask that you add some more battle sounds; wardrums, horns, and chants would be a great start.

Great App, Great Developer
100% recommended. This app has been one of the cornerstones of my Dungeon Master arsenal for years.

It comes preloaded with a good number of sound effects, music, and ambient noises that can all be layered on top of each other, and each layer has its own volume control. As if that weren’t good enough, you can easily upload your own audio files which can be played as a separate layer in the app. This allows for limitless potential in terms of what sort of mood you want to set at the table with your background music.

The developer is extremely helpful and open to feedback. It’s definitely apparent that they genuinely want this to be as good as possible and for your game experience to be elevated by it. Thanks, Dan!
Ellectrone1,
Great overall, would like it to play in the background
I really like this app. It works great, it’s easy to understand, and it’s somewhat well organized. It helps because I’m not quite as great as Matt Mercer in making sound effects with nothing but my face
I’m not a huge fan of the “magic sounds” as they all kind of sound like strange sci-fi noises like laser blasters from the early 80’s. And unfortunately I can not find the sound of a lightning bolt anywhere. But most of the other stuff is good.
Lastly, I keep my DM campaign notes on my phone. So I’m totally unable to access them, or my dice rolling app when I need to roll 20d6 bludgeoning damage, without stopping the ambient music and battle sounds. Would love to see an update for that, then I’d bump it up to 5 stars.
Otherwise great app. Good job and all that.
8ugman,
A great soundboard!
I first got this app as a small soundboard for my group’s dungeons and dragons sessions. The sounds that were preloaded on the app were very clear and the easy menu system is a breeze. The app as since added much more sounds and even playlists! However, this app does have some small problems: some of the sounds loop on a bad spot making the seam very obvious and distracting, and the custom sound info text is outdated. Nevertheless, the real reason I still use this app is just for the custom sounds part. Being able to add your own songs and setting them on different layers can really add to your rpg experience. This app is amazing as just a soundboard alone and not just for rpgs.

Redoing my Review
I had originally wrote a two-star review for this app because there was no way to split view or slide over. That was added so now I am adjusting my review. This app is very useful now that I can run this app side by side with the app I use for my virtual tabletop.

There is only one more small critique that would give this app 5 stars and that would be the ability to add custom sound and audio via the Files app. I love creating sound effects using GarageBand and I would love to just add them right into this app and use them. Currently you can add custom sounds via iTunes/Finder, but I don’t have the money to buy a new computer that my iPhone and iPad can talk to.

So there you go. If it had the ability to add custom audio via the Files App, it would a perfect app.
High noon is asome,
Excellent user interface and costumer support.
Not only is this app design very friendly, it has an amazing array of sounds and options to make your campaign feel alive! I stand by the fact that having sounds and noises in your campaign can truly immerse your party and this app does it well. From literal “chest opening” sounds to “sword hitting armor”, it has it all and allows you to pre-plan a scene so you aren’t racing to find certain things! Lastly, you can add your own sounds and combine it all into audio story! 10/10

Additionally, I had an issue with my account and almost immediately got help with a very understanding staff member! Thanks Dan!
