Great when app connects
I purchased the annual subscription after the trial period for my Apple Watch 5. It works great for my home course, but when I tired to use it at other courses, the connection icon keeps spinning and will not connect to display the course map and following functions. Verizon Cellular connection was 3+ bars. The app can locate and download the golf course and load the map. When I start the round, the connection icon keeps spinning and will not connect. It should not do this at courses like Poppy Ridge, Poppy Hills and Chardonnay. I emailed Tag Heuer support but no response. That said, when it connects at my home course at Shadow Lakes, it works great. It does chew up a lot of battery life. After 100% battery life start, battery life was 28% after a 4.75 hour round. I am not sure if the battery drainage is due to programming or the Apple Watch GPS usage itself. I assume it is probably both. I hope support can assist me in why this is happening with me. That said, I would recommend using this app because when it works, it works great.

A hidden gem!
Two members of my family started using gps watches. Fine. I have an Apple Watch, there must be something out there. I tried several different golf apps. Many were clunky, slow, or just too expensive. This one though—it worked well. So much so that I got the annual subscription, even though I can’t golf every week during the winter. So far, I’ve had no trouble finding courses in Arizona, Harbor Springs MI, Indiana, and South Carolina. I liked the first layout—it was cleaner. The recent update took an adjustment but I figured it out. I don’t use club suggestions as they are built for men. But, I like the new driver distance tracking. (You hit, it tracks as you walk to the ball.) In preparation for this spring and summer…I bought an Apple Watch with a 45mm screen. This app was fine on 40mm watch 6, but my eyes will appreciate more landscape. Let’s just say the price (if you already have an Apple Watch) is right, no need to buy another gadget, and the app works well. It does drain battery life tho. You have to go out fully charged.

Best Golf App for Apple Watch
I wanted to use my Apple Watch as a golf yardage watch and not have to buy a separate one. Although there are many golf apps that allow you to get yardages on your Apple Watch, this app is the only one that allows you to see the whole hole on your watch! By using the Digital Crown to scroll, you can see a graphic of the hole from the green back to the tee. You can scroll to get distances, see bunkers, water, etc. You can also just get simple yardages to front, middle and center like a regular golf watch. When I am hitting my approach shots and don’t have my phone on me, the watch tells me everything I need to know. After I putt out, I can quickly and easily enter my score on the watch and it syncs to the app on the phone.
Another terrific feature is that it gives you two maps on your phone - one is a neat 3D graphic of the hole with key distances notes. The other is a satellite view of the hole, with the ability to touch anywhere on the screen and see your yardages to hazards. You can switch easily between views.
I love the scoring on the app - it allows you to choose how you want to keep your score - gross or net, etc. And it has lots of stats you can keep track of.
It syncs seamlessly between the phone and watch. I always keep my phone in the cart and no matter how far away I am from the cart, the watch yardages always works.

Save your money
The graphics on my watch were beautiful but the app itself is rather buggy. It has a tendency to skip to the next hole and after some work I can get it back to the correct hole but then when I go to hit my next shot it is back to the wrong hole again. They say you can get yardage to hazards and different pin locations but that only works if they are in the middle. If the pin is off to the side on a wide green you can’t get the yardage as the sighting line goes down the middle from tee to green and can’t go left and right. If you want to record the length of a shot you have to start where you hit the shot and then stop when you get to your ball, pick the club you used and then hit save all the while your friends are standing around wondering when you will hit your next shot. I don’t need to save but there is no way to cancel. Support is worthless as well. I sent 2 emails and only received back the form that says my email was received and someone would get back to me probably in 2 days. That was 9 days ago. My 6 year old Garmin S20 works way better.

First time user.
I bought the newest Apple Watch series 5 gps and cellular two weeks ago... tried two other golf apps and was not thrilled. I downloaded this one and paid the $6.99 for a month as a trial period. I used it yesterday and I am very happy. I will purchase the $40 yearly. All I really want is the distance to green. The other stuff is not important at this stage of my play. I think $40 is a bit much for the simple usage I need but I personally think it is worth it, I hope to eventually use the other features.
I like being able to go thru my game and look at my distance quickly and it was updated as soon as I looked no waiting for the watch to catch up like others. It used 70% of battery to go 5.5 hours of play.
I like being able to go thru my game and look at my distance quickly and it was updated as soon as I looked no waiting for the watch to catch up like others. It used 70% of battery to go 5.5 hours of play.

Not FunGolf anymore
Well they sold out and people are mad because of subscriptions I’m mad because of the new functionality switch. Forced to switch over and bought the half off for the year of Apple Watch played it today. Buggy and confusing as far as interface goes the watch and phone don’t sync well at all the only thing similar to FunGolf app is the map graphics. They tripled your inputs for one simple shot that the original FunGolf had. This app is horrible and contacted customer support for a refund on the upgraded app. I think it’s a five day trial period and this one lasted one day and 2 holes of golf before I just stopped trying to input every shot and just entered my score manually with no logging of distance. This app is so dumb when I entered my scores it could not even figure out that I had shots of over a mile ruining any of my other stats when it comes to long game and club length ect ect. I will update this review if customer service ever gets back to me and I will contest my purchase with my credit card company if I am charged and not refunded because I did notify them of my poor experience with their app within the trial period.

Great App for golf
Update- new updates are great. I’ve used this app for many rounds and love it. Favorite and most used app on my watch.
Earlier post: I used to use Fun Golf on my Apple Watch 4, now use Tag Heuer Golf App. Basically the same app but with a different presentation of stats. I Kind of like the new stats better. Courses, distances, shot tracking, scoring all work flawlessly for me. Battery usage the same. Can easily get in 18 holes using watch GPS. A 5 hour round will use about 70% of the battery so try to have a full charge. An improvement I would like is to have is a stat page for all the recorded shots. Currently it just shows for each round. Please keep updating and supporting the Apple Watch. To me it’s the best golf app for Apple watches.

Love the app! But...
I have used this app for about a year. First when it was FunGolf and now as Tag Heuer Golf. I find it to be a very helpful tool. I play on a lot of different courses during the season and the app shows the course layout and the distances to hazards and greens. Since I wear my Apple Watch every day (!) I always have this app on me, charged and ready for a round anywhere!
My one issue is that for some reason the app is now using up way more battery. My watch dies about midway through a round and then I need to use it on my iPhone. This didn’t happen previously (when it was FunGolf) and not sure why it’s happening now...
Will there be any updates to the system to address this?

Issue Since Last Update
To start, the reply here will be to reach out to customer service. I’ve done that, and there are no replies. Maybe the worst customer service ever. I paid $2,800 for a watch that now will not sync to the Tag golf app. It used to run just fine. Now every time I try to sync the round in my watch to the app, the round on the Tag Connected golf watch just crashes. Today I played 17 holes then opened the app to let it sync, and it only synced 6 holes, then crashed. Entire round lost. Before at any point if I open the app on my phone, it would simply sync with the last hole completed and go from there. Now, crash. Before it crashes it tries to download the course data over and over. I have the most current iOS. The tag golf app on the watch is most recent, as well as on the phone. I’ve restarted. If I could I get my money back tomorrow on this. It’s absolutely terrible.

Closest to the pin?
I’ve been trying hard to find the best golf app that utilizes the Apple Watch for GPS position and actually shows the hole on the watch....and this is the closest that I’ve found to accomplish that. One thing missing and one bug to fix and these guys might just satisfy my wishes. First thing, functionality is great and I really just wish that I could initiate the shot measurement with my watch, instead of the phone. This is a big one that would make the use of the watch independent of the phone. You can end the shot distance recording via the watch, so I’m sure that isn’t far off. The only “gripe” that I have has been mentioned in other reviews and it keeps happening to me as well....the app keeps coming back on by itself when away from the course. Almost there....
