REALLY needs some updates
My friends and I love this game. We play it all the time. However, the app needs some updates. It is not optimized for the newer iPhone models (black edges) and we have experienced issues where the game tells you to pick the wrong number card (we experienced this on the The Tonipal’s Treasure game, where correctly solving a puzzle tells you to add the wrong number to a card and ruined the game because we didn’t know which way to go). Overall, this is a great game with a great ideas. The app just needs some updates.

Needs work but a good idea
When I first played Unlock! it was kinda hard and didn’t make sense. They wanted you to combine stuff that didn’t make sense together. Also the machines wanted me to do things that I was doing and they didn’t work that well. The last bad thing was that it didn’t tell you that you needed sound so I got stuck on one part because I needed to do it correctly.
It was a good bonding experience and a good idea. After I turned my sound on though the sound worked fine. I like that they come in packs of three so you can get another pack before you do all three that you have. I did it on my iPad and had no problems with sound. I think they’re hints are good. Also you can do it whenever. So a good idea but needs work.

Excellent in every way — make sure your iPhone isn’t on silent mode!
We’ve played every Unlock! game that’s been released. We love them, and are awaiting more releases. We also play on an iPhone—several different models, in fact. We’ve had no sound problems. Note: if you’re only getting sound through headphones, and not through your speakers, check that you don’t have the “silent mode” switch on the side of your phone engaged; unsurprisingly, you won’t get sound through the speakers if you’re in silent mode.

Nice companion app, needs work.
The app works fairly well on my iPad Air, but it doesn’t rotate. That makes it less useful, minus one star. In order to get the overall solution for the game, you have to log in to Facebook, minus one star (I don’t have and never want a Facebook login).
Otherwise, it’s decent and the soundtrack, while repetitive, adds color. They could care quite a bit more about the consumer experience here… maybe in the future.

Has some minor grammar errors that make it difficult
The machines are tricky to understand sometimes. The tutorial has a slight grammar error in the hint for the machine.
You have to make one number combination in your head to reveal the Wire card and THEN you have to combine the Wire with the machine again in the app. The app won’t accept a +14 with the Key card to get to 25, it will give you a penalty (even though that seems like a reasonable combination).
Wish they would make that part easier to understand.

New and fun idea- needs some finesse
Our family of three (2 adults, one 10 yr old) had a lot of fun playing this game. It’s a great idea, but needs
some smoothing out. It was far fetched to figure out a few of the clues/ cards (like the colored vials in “Formula”). The penalties were pretty harsh as well! All in all, we did enjoy puzzling through it and had a blast! Now that we know how to interact with the game, we may not need to pause to figure out how to use cards in different version quite as much.

Sound Not Working
We just played through Nautilus and one of the “machine” cards had us go into the app for a sound based clue/puzzle, except the sound didn’t work AT ALL. We could NOT figure out that clue and had to ask for the solution to it because there was absolutely no way to figure it out. This was a huge bummer. It took us forever to get through the puzzles and we still can’t figure out how some of the answers worked, but overall it was fun.

Needs “check steps” in hints
We really enjoy these (have played 4 so far) but the hint system needs a check step built in before showing the solution—e.g., “do you have cards X,Y, and Z?” Several times we’ve asked for hints or solutions on a card only to be sent way further ahead in the game than we actually were. If the hint had just asked first whether we had the right cards, that would have stopped us from inadvertently skipping chunks of the game.

Woof. Games too challenging, not fun
This is a very clever platform for escape room style games, however even at the easiest level, these games are simply too difficult, and the logic too unintuitive, to be fun. I’ve done about 80 escape rooms and love this kind of stuff. But my wife and i just got frustrated with the ridiculous leaps of logic the game creators ask you to make. So close, but I’d say pass until they do some more beta testing nd figure out how to make the game flow better.

The latest Sherlock game is stuck pretty early
I got the latest box of unlock, with Sherlock Holmes.
Tried to play it with my friends, all of us got stuck in the app very early. When you try to hit the “locate” button, you’re supposed to see a map I think, instead I’m stuck on a picture of a mobster and have to kill the app to exit. I tried all possible interactions and nothing works.
Looking at the booklet with the walkthrough, it appears the image I’m seeing is supposed to arrive at the end of the game.
