TreyB243,
Disclaimer: I’ve only had this game for one day
So I’m giving this title 5 stars because of how well polished it is.
Micro-transactions are minuscule but the ability to kit your party out with new archetypes is very nice, much like new characters in MOBA type games. The beginning. Party I have seems very well balanced, I typically have several ways to take a battle s scenario.
I’m very fond of this turn based system, I get most of the info I need on enemies by just tapping them. Movement spaces seem fair, the maps have some interesting chokes and cover to use, and the enemies I have fought seem to be well balanced and challenging provided you think before you act.
Load speeds are insanely fast and you really can just breeze through the non combat portions, and for a $5 mobile game everything looks beautiful.
I’m going to have to recommend this to any Warhammer fan because the plot line is thick and text rich, giving the player a generous amount of reading without really dragging anything out.
Leptomeninges,
Worth it
As a fan of the first warhammer quest, I kept my eye on this game for a long time. Recently bought on sale and very pleased. People have posted negatively about this title. Let me speak to the issues.

1. Bugs: The title seems to have been buggy on launch. So far I haven’t noticed issues with the current build.
2. Differences from the first Warhammer Quest: these include condensing movement and attack into one pool of action points, and things like hero impermanence. The latter is a big one. It’s often better to hire a new hero than level up. Equipment and skill kits are often cheaper on a new hero than with individual purchases.
3. Misunderstanding of game mechanics. I read a review several times complaining that a mage got strength on a level up. Strength is the damage dealing stat for all classes including mages.
4. Microtransactions: personally I don’t mind paying additional cash if the content is worth it. I vastly prefer a game selling content than a game that starves me of energy or some similar mechanic, forcing me to pay to play.

Overall at this point I’d say this is a worthy successor. If you enjoyed the first I think there’s much to enjoy here.
GoneTogue,
Fun
The game is fun but the game is to hard at act three. Also the level design can be pretty dumb. The time you get the elf all the enemies have massive piercing weapon reductions beside two of them you rarely see and die to anything in one hit anyway, making them useless, and the ambush mechanic isn’t used for
Keeping the player at a faster pace so he needs to rush through the dungeon, it’s used at random and no matter what five new enemies just teleport to you. A good strategy for starters is a great sword wielding captain with full plate. He can just stand where he is and cleave through gor herds and Minotaurs. Also when you get the fire hammer I did not use it cause the fire it creates on the tile blocks you and the fire damage overtime is to small to make a difference as in if a pox zombie has 12 health and takes 6 damage from the fire then next turn he takes four, but even if he doesn’t take fire damage he still is going to die to the next six damage, and now the fire is blocking your way unless your willing to take the four chip damage for three turns (you never want to take chip damage)
Red277777,
It’s like the original, but worse
I really want to like this game. I love WH quest 1 and still play from time to time. This game has less crisp graphics, worse play dynamics (e.g WHQ 1 let you move all your action points and then attack but in WHQ2 attacking and moving draw from the same pool meaning that you have to keep watching how many spaces you can move by totaling the number of AP points you have, then subtract how many AP points your attack costs, which is often 2, and then only move that far - this makes each move painfully slow to do, compared to WH1s easy to do system), harder to navigate towns, slower gameplay during battles, an equipment inventory I haven’t yet managed to locate, and more. It also has fewer dungeons and heroes in the base version.

If you’ve not yet got WHQ1, get that instead. If you do have WHQ2, just keep playing that.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad game, it’s just worse than its predecessor quite substantially. A wasted opportunity.
brad_ef,
This game crashes too frequently
I enjoy the game, and I enjoy the strategy. I haven’t wiped yet in the game, but I’ve frequently had characters die and suffer with injury. I love that the game can be high risk and punishing (but not too punishing with time gates that you pay off with real life money). The game just needs polish.

1. Some abilities don’t include all of their info in their skill description - like their range, uses, or if they friendly fire. Some stats, like crit rate, are a mystery.

2. The game crashes a lot.

3. If you are a min-maxer, then you might find this game frustrating. There is a lot of rng in stat points. Leveling gives your character a random stat increase, which would be fine if they wouldn’t give intelligence to your characters that can’t use spells. I’d appreciate a service to reassign stat points for a gold cost. Also, some recruits of the same class have more base attribute points than other recruits of the same class of the same level. I wish this was more obvious with a representation of X/5 stars or something. And, maybe have a mechanic to merge recruits of the same class into one recruit with more stars. For now, I have to add up all of the stats (and divide the health by 5), then subtract that number by their level to find out their base value. That’s too much math and memorization for me to bother with buying a recruit with higher base value at a tavern.
Hoss7899,
Want to love it so bad...
***After recent patch, bugs were fixed so my save game was no longer crashing upon loading. Game works as intended now, and upgraded my rating to reflect that. There still seems to be some issues with equipment modifiers but happy to report I’m thoroughly enjoying the game now.***

Trouble is, as others are saying, its buggy. Too buggy for a paid game in my opinion and too many things that just don’t make sense.

I’ve done my best to overlook all the problems because I wanted to play it so bad, but now my game has crashed mid-fight, and my save game will no longer load without crashing while loading.

The type of things I’ve looked over until now were extra warriors I couldn’t delete, dumb AI that walks through flames instead of around, abilities that only partially work or won’t add the stated bonus from stats, ranged abilities that won’t fire ranged, to regular crashes.

If the bugs can be corrected so I can at least play my saved game, I would increase this rating. Until then it’s unplayable to me as I am not starting another game just because my last one bugged out.

Right now I can not recommend this game.
Eriptron,
Disappointed. Should be better by now!
Great graphics, music and FX. You have to sit through the scrolling intro text over and over and over again with each new game. Really lame.

Game combat resolution is cheesy. The enemy can hit my character at maximum distance 3 times in a row with their arrows, yet my character can be in the adjacent square and miss twice in a row. Poor combat resolution balance.

Some scenes are literally impossible to win, so why have them? One ambush scene the game removes one of my characters and then puts them into a scene that us not even remotely possible win.

The camera tilt is almost useful but the angle is too small. This developer missed a huge game immersion feature here. The camera should be able to go all the way down to character level as is done in ‘Demon’s Rise’. Then you’re in the game!

And it appears that you have to suffer through the limited Tutorial with each new game. The game is stable though. Never crashed even putting it in the background a lot.

Too many design flaws in the game not being resolved by the developer to waste over 2GB for. Regret spending the money. I think this game tries to ride on it’s ‘good looks’. I can’t, in all honesty, recommend this game. I find ‘Demon’s Rise’ way better and it has what this game either doesn’t or didn’t do well.
CSC2047,
Seems to address a few issues
I had a review before where Perchang responded but don’t know why it’s gone now. So I will re-review again with suggestions.
1. I like that we have an inventory management system now, but it took about of guessing on how to get to it. Should devs prepare an instruction manual? Seems like after the tutorial, we are on our own.
2. Still haven’t figured out how to sell my extra characters. Again, a tutorial may help, or in game text guide.
3. Random dungeon crawl quest icons still need further optimization. Some are still stuck in mid air and the reward cannot be claimed when finished. It says I gained “XXX” but it does not show in inventory.
4. Reward description is still needed for the dungeon crawl icon. No idea on item reward stats until I finish dungeon makes it difficult to choose if partake in the quest or not.
tiancom97,
Too many changes from the original
If this is to be a sequel to the first the mechanics should be similar. Where the first follows the basic rules and mechanics of the board game from the 90’s the second seem to be more like the dungeons and dragons mechanics which wouldn’t be bad but it just wasn’t what I expected. The there is the issue of the difficulty level skyrockets to fast. I get that they do that to get you to make in app purchases. Personally I would rather pay a few dollars upfront than be buckled and dimmed. I am also not crazy about the characters maybe I am just to hung up on the original. I have tried to get into it several times mostly because the original won’t work with the current iPhone version. I truly hope the newWarhammer quest silver tower is closer to the original
Indeed!!!!!,
Plays like a playable Beta
I’ve played WHQ 1 more than all other gaming apps combined over the years. I’m a hardcore fan of most things WarHammer. I opened a brand New IPAD I was going to return just for this!

Play testing and adjustments? Most attacks land to the point of overkill no matter what and some effects and spells have their positive or negative results go off weather the attempt was successful or not. Many updates later and the game still has so many glaring unpolished issues. In my opinion too much that wasn’t broken as far as game mechanics, structured rules and artistic rendition was changed just because and quite frankly isn’t as good as the first of the series. I just don’t understand.....😞 This F@c#$ me up internally as I was preparing to be AWOL from work focused on this game....
