Description

Weav Run is a music app for runners. Using groundbreaking adaptive music technology, music you love automatically syncs to your footsteps—in real time! Access hundreds of top songs and curated playlists by your favorite artists. Run, jog, sprint, walk—we cover every running pace from 100 - 240 steps/min. The music adapts to your stride!

Enjoy tracks by Lizzo, Cardi B, Sia, Icona Pop, Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Portugal. The Man, Galantis, and many others at 122, 179, or even 220 beats per minute. Weav’s technology carefully remixes every song on the fly so the song always sounds fresh and clean.
Weav Run puts you in control of the music with 2 modes to choose from:

— MATCH MY STRIDE
Weav Run keeps the music in sync with your steps while you’re running. The song’s beat lands when your foot hits the ground. If you run faster, the song speeds up... If you slow down, the song instantaneously adapts and plays at a slower BPM.

— FIXED TEMPO
This mode enables you to set the BPM, and every song you hear will play at that exact tempo. You can also change this at any point during the run. Use this mode to help maintain a steady rhythm while running. It can also be used to help you optimize your cadence. Running at a higher cadence can reduce the risk of injury, increase running efficiency, and boost performance.

[New Feature]
— WEAV OUTDOOR WORKOUTS
Our new instructor-led dynamic audio workouts combine distance- and time-based intervals, workout-specific pace, distance cues, and other novel personalizations.

You can freely choose the playlist for each workout, and shuffle or skip songs without interfering with the audio instructions. And continue running to music once the trainer’s workout is over.

Speaking of the trainer, we have partnered with Kelly Roberts, certified running coach and founder of Badass Lady Gang in creating the first 5 outdoor workouts. Together, we've created guided runs for runners of all athletic levels that build strength and endurance but most importantly, will help runners actually have more fun running.

— IMPROVING CADENCE
Studies show that runners often match their steps with the rhythm of the music. Higher BPM encourages you to take more steps per minute. By matching your footfall to the beat, you can begin optimizing your cadence.

Kpeem,
Absolutely love it!
I’ve been using this app for awhile now, and can’t even begin to express how much I like it! I’ve been a runner for a decent amount of time, training for races but now mostly running for fun, and for the exercise, but this app was a game changer for me. I’ve heard of how important cadence is when you run, but never knew how to change it, or where to start. Then I found Weav Run. The app makes it so easy to work on your cadence, and stride, and how to adjust them to improve your runs. You can either set it to the steps per minute you want to be at, or have it sync to the pace you are doing. I like having it sync to my pace to see where I’m at, then have it be a set number so I can work up to where I want to be.
The music is great, and upbeat. They have a wide selection of genres, and pre-made playlists to fit whatever type of run you are going on. They are constantly adding new songs, and you can create your own playlist if you want to.
The new guided runs are amazing! I’ve never really done speed work before, and it can be intimidating for those of us who run for fun, but these guided runs explain everything making it such an easy process. They give tips along the way, and encouragement as you run. The different options are so great, and the perfect way to diversify your training runs. I now enjoy speed work!
Every aspect of this app is a unique, and creative way to take your running experience to the next level! Definitely give it a go!
Lepetitmont,
Brilliant app
I am new to this app, although it’s very easy to figure out. I’ve used it on the treadmill as well as outdoors. It’s pricey, and thought I might not like the music. Well, the app does the job. What I like best about it is helping me keep my cadence through the tough parts of workouts or hills. Where I would slow my cadence, probably significantly, The beat keeps me steady. I can assess my ‘tiredness’ honestly and usually stick to the beat. In truth, this actually makes the tough parts easier because all I’m thinking about is keeping to the beat. Focus on that, and boom, it’s done. And the tunes? They are fine. Sure, at 180 cadence, sometimes it’s a little weird, but I just don’t notice it. I’m just picking up the bass, picking up the beat. For building up my running form, this has been awesome.

I use the Apple Watch activity app bc it syncs to Runcoach...as others have noted, it’s preferable to be able to download a playlist to the watch, and not have to carry the phone. Hopefully this feature will roll out in the future, since other apps like Audible and Podcasts offer this.

Almost brilliant!
I am one of those people who find running to music very distracting. The difference between my running cadence and the tempo of the music is very off-putting. So, I was very excited to try Weav Run. I tried the mode that adjusts to your running pace, but that seemed difficult to use. I deliberately changed from a slow jog to a fast sprint, but the tempo of the music did not seem to adjust—at least not very promptly. Perhaps I should have been more patient. I switched to fixed tempo easier to use. The user interface is very clear in this aspect. I found it a little hard to find a good pace—but that’s me, not the app. Once I figured out that 162 bpm was perfect for me, everything went smoothly.
My main criticism is that the actual music isn’t good. The selection is limited to performers I’ve mostly never heard of. The interface for downloading music is also unclear.
In my opinion, what would make the app a killer would be the ability to listen to your own iTunes songs. Obviously there would have to be some kind of pre-processing to prepare your favorite tunes for tempo adjustment, but I don’t see why this couldn’t be done. I wouldn’t expect this to work real-time. I’d be happy to make a playlist of songs from my iTuned library, process those through a PC application and then download those into Weav Run. Perhaps there is some kind of licensing issue, but if there isn’t, the feature I am describing would make the app a real keeper.
VJF3,
Saved my running!
Going into my 45th year of running I was starting to burn out and breakdown. My physical therapist videoed my run form and was quick to identify where age and bad habits were causing me problems. With some corrective PT we were able to address a fair amount of the body aches due to wear and tear (high school and college contact sports; 20 years USMC service). Regarding form and motion, she suggested my step count was too slow for the intensity of runs I was doing. She suggested to focus on step count to improve my effort and form (over-striding). Always into music and tech with running, I came across WeavRun in the App Store and decided to give it a try. Instant success for my step count and enjoying running again. Hard fast days or slow easy days, I have my running buddy playing great music and helping me find the right rhythm and intensity. Now going into my second year of Weav running and very pleased with music updates and new training programs. I highly recommend Weav to family and friends that are runners.
Alpine Eddy,
Wanting something like this for a long time
I took a running class that explained the importance of cadence. I found that when I listened to music, my cadence would be influenced. I spent lots of time trying to make running mixes with proper BPM, but never got it perfect. I even remixed songs to get different BPMs, but they sounded like the chipmunks. Unusable. Then I found WeavRun. It was what I needed and more. It is amazing how they mix the music so that it sounds good at any tempo. I can listen to music on runs again, and change tempo when doing intervals! You feel the difference and it helps. I like the “find your tempo” feature and have also played around with speeding my tempo up with good results. Highly recommend.

Would love to see ability to transfer music to Apple Watch so that I can leave the iPhone behind on runs, even if only limited to a select playlist.

Also app support is very responsive and helpful.
LukeL83,
Really good app, works nicely
I’ve been using this app for about a 6 weeks now, and it has been a very useful tool for me. The adaptive ability of the pace to the music is a game changer for training. It does cost a bit up front, but when you look at that price per month, it’s very affordable.
The app functions very well so far for me. There is only one complaint that I have, and that is the list of available music. For long training runs (1 hour plus), the playlists aren’t long enough unless you make your own playlist. Additionally, there isn’t a lot of variety of the type of music I generally prefer. That said, the popular playlists are the songs we all now and enjoy. They do seem to add a few songs each week, and I assume as the app gains more users, that list will continue to grow. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a deal breaker at all. Thanks to the developers for creating this technology! If you’re a serious runner, you will likely get your money’s worth out of this.
JessP1310,
Never changed songs
My first time using the app and I am thinking of deleting. It only played 1 song. I tried giving it time but after 10 minutes it still kept playing the same song. Then I tried skipping from my phone and my Apple Watch and there was no response. I tried closing and restarting the app to no resolve. I tried playing a different playlist but the same song kept playing. I might try giving it another try but I don’t want to interrupt my run again fumbling with it. Also, when using this app my movement wasn’t recorded in the activity app on my watch.

After receiving the much appreciated developer response I let the music download and it worked. However I didn’t notice any change in speed with my cadence and I’m sure I was on that setting. Also, I feel the same songs are on all the playlists. I would give 5 stars if there was more variety. I look forward to using it more and hopefully as the popularity grows the song variety will increase.
Wendy-Loo-Who,
Good concept but...
It looks like a lot of people really love this app, are motivated to run faster, and have found that it improves their pace significantly. That’s awesome and I’m really glad it works for them. I also think it’s amazing what they’ve done by re-engineering the music. I preface my review with admiration over that attention to detail since I’m a musician too. However to me the tempo changes are distracting, and a lot of the music just sounds too fast for its own rhythm, melody and phrasing. I thought maybe choosing a “Fixed Tempo” would solve it by playing only songs that are written for that particular tempo. While it does stay consistent, it does so by the same method, adjusting the tempo of every song so they still all sound rushed. It pretty much goes against all of my musical training to play something too slow or too fast and worst of all, to drag or rush the beat. Anyway, good luck to you all...it’s a fabulous idea. I’d love to try it again when I can choose a tempo and it filters to a playlist of songs in their original tempo.
Slsntou,
Excellent App with Excellent Customer Service!
I’m a homeschool mom and this app gives me a great start to my day! I depend on it now....I’ve been using this app for a few months. I have happily shared it with friends. I like to go for walks/ runs. It’s great exercise, fresh air, and clears my mind. I’ll start with a walk, but the music motivates you to run. Just pick up the pace for a minute and when the music picks up, you don’t want the beat to go back down! I recently tried the workouts. So motivating and I love that the instructor told me to smile! I would like to see a short HIIT run. 😉 Also, I never paid attention to my time per mile, but since this app gives you feedback during your run, I find myself trying to do better and improve with every use. I recently made a request for music and quickly received a response from the company. Awesome. Love the app! Thank you!
Vince Viloria,
Great Execution
Finally gave this app a try today during a recovery run, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I was able to figure out how to use it just to play music while tracking with the Apple Watch Workout app. Being able to skip tracks from the Workout app is nice. It suddenly stopped playing shortly after the thirty minute mark. I didn’t want to stop and fumble with my phone and I didn’t want to try restarting Weav from my watch because I was so close to finishing I didn’t want to stop and figure it out. Weav actually recorded the truncated run. Not sure what happened but no worries. Works well enough that I’ll leave it installed and check in after each update for now. If I can select from available songs to piece together some sort of in-app playlist that would be nice but I get that they’re engineered to flow seamlessly. All in all, a well executed app!
