JmeAl3na,
It’s a REAL tool not a list of inspirational quotes
I am giving a explanation because I think I’m not the only one that avoids mental health apps and want to reassure them that this app is nothing like any of the other apps. Also as a genuine thank you to the developer 🙏

Nothing is worse than thinking something can help you just to find out it is filled with “live love laugh”, “you’re special”, “omg mercury in retrograde”. That’s all nice but it is shallow and unhelpful. Some apps with breathing exercises and cutesy quotes really make me feel invalidated and that feeling better is just as easy as namaste. That if you just say the word “positive” over and over nothing bad will ever happen. So when I found this app I was sooooo happy. I share it with anyone overwhelmed by their mental state and especially when they had little resources available.

I have severe anxiety attacks from PTSD and this app has saved my life. It is clear the developer is a professional and is focused on helping people get grounded and understand their emotions on a deeper level. Sometimes there is just no level of advice that takes the intensity of an emotion away. Sometimes you are just going to feel but this helped me through that in one piece and educated me on how to identify what I need.
sudacla,
My absolute favorite app for anxiety
Love love love it. I've suffered from depression and anxiety for years. Many mental health apps have come and gone but I've kept this one consistently (longer than almost any other) since it offers such quick, clear help. I use it mostly for anxiety for quick help, for my depression for more general help. When you're really freaking out (or just a bit!) this is the easiest one I've found to get quick help where I don't have to think too much about how to use the app itself in order to let it help me. Open the app, top choice is "Help Right Now" - so simple! Click it and the choice is equally clear "Stop!" Click that and it walks you through a short series of actions to calm you down and bring you back to reality. So many of the others are too wordy or too many bells and whistles; you can’t find your way around or if I do find my way usually it’s difficult to find the helpful parts again, esp. if I’m really in crisis. When I'm not in a crisis, the rest of the app is equally helpful and gives lots of clear good ideas of techniques for overall feeling better. Keep up the good work you guys and thank you so so so much for all many times of this app's support and calming me down and helping me back to reality.
aeliuslux,
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
I’ve only just started using this app, but let me tell you, I am already in love with it! I feel like anyone could benefit from using this. It is very user friendly and even has a wonderful orientation in the beginning that helps you get started. I think my favorite feature is the chat forum. I really like that you can post what you’re feeling, ask for advice, etc. and people can reply to you. And everyone is always so nice! It’s honestly a very positive app! If I could suggest anything to be added, it would be a private chat feature or something along those lines. The only reason I say that is because you will definitely find people you relate to and want to keep talking to, but the only way to do that is by replying to their post which is out in the open for everyone to see. Other than that this app is phenomenal! I highly recommend it to everyone!

Cons of the Forums
Provides easy and immediate access to coping strategies and techniques that users can rely when experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Users are give information to understand their feelings and emotions, as well as ways they can break the cycle of feeling this way. However, forums should be better controlled. Anyone can post anything, which can be hurtful to users, especially teens. Although it is said that the app is for anyone that is 4 years old and older, children that do not know how to read will not be able to use it. Individuals that are visually impaired will not be able to use it either.

An interesting point that was made by Steinberg (2014) is that the pain that adolescence experience when they are social rejected “closely resembles physical pain in neurological terms that taking acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, actually can help alleviate it” (95). Being socially rejected is a painful experience for teens that can definitely make things worse for those that are already struggling. Based on the review criteria above and my own experience with What’s Up, I would rate this app a 3 out 5. What’s Up has many different coping strategies and techniques that users can access whenever they are in need of it. However, individuals can post whatever they want on the forums that can potentially harm users.
mothwish,
Very useful! Thank you
I've trued so many apps that help you check in with yourself and calm down, or become more aware of your surroundings instead of your feelings and etc. None of them have ever really helped despite me wishing they could. They have too many features and I'll get confused and even more frustrated. This app is so simple and rounded that I was able to navigate it while starting to go into a panic and then found the right tools to help me calm down. It reminded me to breathe and think of this moment and I'm so grateful, these times have been hard. Thank you so much to the developer(s); I am happy to have donated to such a genuine app. :^)

Edit to my review: I still like to use this app for the tools it has, but I don't use it nearly as much. The forums are also pretty bad and could make someone feel worse than they already do since there's so much drama and uncensored content on there. I can tell most of the people on there are teens or kids, which isn't the developer's fault, but it does have a negative effect on the app overall.
libbidy2010,
👏👏👏
I’m very impressed! This app is everything that’s right, honestly. I was so skeptical. I have several diagnosis including C-PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Panic Disorder, bipolar 1, agoraphobia, dissociation, etc. If I have a bad enough panic attack, I lose nights of sleep, which triggers my bipolar mania. I can have panic attacks because I’m afraid of having a panic attack. I work hard for my stability and if I think I’m losing it I fall apart.

My point is, this app helps me tremendously when I’m triggered. It grounds me in ways I’ve heard of in therapy but haven’t been able to utilize during episodes. Now that these proven methods are all in one app, I can use them without much effort.

Yesterday I called a crisis line. When that didn’t work I figured I’d look for anything else to help. It’s the weekend and it’s New Years, my counselor isn’t available. This app is always there; when it’s late, the weekend, anytime.

If you struggle at all with any aspect of your mental health, I highly recommend this app. Especially if you have panic attacks or things like ptsd or agoraphobia. It could save you hours or days of recovery time.

To the creator(s) of this app. From the bottom of my black-and-blue heart, thank you 🙏

UPDATE: I do not recommend the forums they are toxic. Everything else 10/10
Mellie_,
Amazing!
My favorite app right now. Everything is well put together. I've tried from the breathing exercises to games to distract me from my anxiety and panic attacks and more. I also love the forum feature. I like to help other people and up lift them. As well as post when I need some advice or some cheering up or have any questions. There's also a diary feature that only you can see and you can write and keep track of so many things like your moods. This is very effective. Most of the things here are things that my therapist has talked about. She would tell me to keep a journal and do a helpful exercises and now I can do them from the app and keep a record of them. This app is very friendly and very helpful. You can tell the creator/ creators where thinking of people in mind.

IN LOVE
This is such an informative, simple to use app! I’ve tried several of the ‘self-help meditation’ apps and none of them have worked/helped. However, this app has been a lifesaver. What’s Up has calmed me (multiple times) while having active anxiety attacks in public and at home. THIS IS AMAZING TO ME. The breathing techniques and affirmations are among my favorite things it has - and that’s just the beginning of what this app offers 🤗 I love how discreet it is; if I’m in public without headphones I don’t have to worry about people overhearing what I’m doing on my phone.

This is an incredible app all around. The developers are doing great work. I highly recommend downloading it!!
Chappyshome,
Thank You
The concept of this app warms my heart immensely. The fact that everything on it is free really shows that the main goal wasn't to make a profit, but to truly help those in need of it. My anxiety attacks have been increasing in frequency, and I've been using this app every time I have had one and honestly it's been changing my life. The journaling and coping strategies are available to me wherever and if I start to get disappointed in myself or embarrassed for having an anxiety attack I read the quotes and affirmations. There's so much information and so much help here and it has truly changed my life. Thank you.
Emma's iPhone 6,
An Absolutely Sublime Tool
By far the best designed app I have found both in function and content for CBT support. Upon installing the app and browsing the content, I was exuberant! It feels like the app was created just for me and the knowledge I learned during my recent hospitalization. Thank you for creating this and sharing it. I'm doing my best to share with others and can only hope the developer will continue to provide updates and support for this essential tool (in my personal toolbox).
