T8erTots,
Needs More Features
Hi, this is my first day using the app so don’t have a lot of feedback in terms of the food search. However it would be really helpful if you could add some other features. 1) The ability to keep track of the foods you ate during the day and not just look them up. There’s no sense of satisfaction of just looking at something but not being able to hit the “add” button. For example I ate something that wasn’t whole30 but didn’t realize it. I would still want to be able to add it so I know for the future. And then have the option to reset to day 1, for example. 2) Also would be great if we could mark certain foods as favorite so we always know if it’s an approved food without having to look it up each time. When you eat a variety of foods, it’s easy to forget what’s approved or not. 3) And also a notes feature would be helpful.
whole30hannah,
Very disappointed, wildly inaccurate
I purchased this app for the convenience of not having to check lists for approved ingredients and the ease of not having to google things. Well most of the stuff I’ve tried to scan and a few ingredients I’ve tried to look up (i.e. oat milk, seems common enough that should be on there) have not been on there. I was frustrated there, but then what actually caused me to come write the review is that there are things on here that are just wrong! I’d rather you have not listed an ingredient or a product than give an “approved” or “not approved” if it isn’t accurate!
My example is cashew milk - I scanned different kinds (all unsweetened) at the store and each one said not approved. I remember reading that cashew milk was okay as long as it wasn’t sweetened so I started looking at the ingredients and searching each one on the app, on google, and looking at my list of approved ingredients and they were all fine! Google even has 7 websites saying these cashew milks are fine.
Overall very disappointed, wish I could get my money back, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY you’re just going to have to google everything anyway
toka life rooks,
Whole 30 has changed my life and this app has simplified the change!
When I started Whole 30 I was a little frustrated with having to constantly check Google for approved ingredients. My Whole 30 partner found this app and POOF problem solved. This app changed everything. With a simple search or a scan I immediately know if a product is compliant. So easy! I also love the grocery list feature. I have completely stopped forgetting things when I go to the store (I also list other non Whole 30 products on there like garbage bags or whatever). It’s even made shopping with the kiddos easier! The kids love being in charge of the phone while we shop so they can search, scan, and delete items once the item has been put in the cart.

Thank you for this ingenious app!

Simple and convenient! Love this app
I love this app and don’t know what I would do without it!! They have all ingredients that are whole 30 approved or not approved, which is great for a quick look up while you are in the store! Also if there is something you come across that isn’t on there which is rare, you can tell them and they will add it! Also has a daily tip/ motivation and a countdown on how many days you have left. Thank you for this app. I haven’t found any other app that compares. Just the right information too! No extra meaningless info. I like how simple it is
@_frozenintimephoto_,
There are ADS! ..Somewhat helpful app, but the recipe section is frustrating.
First off, I strongly disagree with the fact that there are ads shown in the recipe section even though this app cost $2.99. The ads are annoying and cover what I’m trying to look at, and I’m constantly having to close them.

On another note, there needs to be a way to filter your search results when you’re searching for recipes. For instance, I am doing the whole 30 diet and I was looking for a salad dressing recipe.. I typed in “dressing” and all different kinds of dressings came up that weren’t Whole 30 approved.
I couldn’t find any sort of option to filter the results to only include Whole 30 options. I feel like this app is basically a waste of time because after taking all the time to scroll through all the dressing recipes (trying to find the ones that are whole 30 approved), I might as well have just googled it.

The last thing I am disappointed in, is that many food items that I look up apparently “can’t be found” in the system or something, even when I manually type it the number. Also, the barcode scanner doesn’t always work. Sometimes it says “no barcode detected”.

Overall I’m pretty disappointed that this cost $2.99 considering what I got, and of course, the fact that there are advertisements.
RangerPantyzLTW,
Good App - Lame Daily Encouragement
First of all, let me be clear, we should not find our sole encouragement during Whole30 from a phone app. Regardless, it should have a little more thought and time put it into it then several days of practically the same saying reworded. Use facts about what the body is/should be experiencing and tell the user these things. Then round it out with genuine encouragement.

As for the ingredient search and the package finder, they are great qualities of the app. I've had nothing but success with either of those things. That's the main reason why the price is justified.

UI Needs Much Improvement
Would prefer the app to open with a search and not lengthy scrollable text (not important). Buttons would be phenomenal as opposed to navigating a menu bar (important). Most importantly, I would value the option to add an ingredient from the search directly to my grocery list. For example, if I discover that salmon is compliant, I could tap a plus sign and add it to my list, rather than have to navigate to a different menu and input salmon all over again. Then go back to search for another and repeat. For looking up additives, though, it is incredibly useful. Looking forward to updates!
Jt0703,
Total waste of money
I was excited to find a well rated app to help me get through the questions I would surely have along the way. The barcode scanner is what really sold me. My first trip to Trader Joe’s I scanned a few barcodes, not one is recognized. I think okay, it’s their label, maybe I’m asking too much. Next stop, Whole Foods, same outcome. Surely it’s me... so I type ‘yucca’ in the ingredient search and again I’m disappointed. The recipe section brings you to Instagram. Okay I have already followed that myself, didn’t need a paid app to bring me there. How frustrating! I spent money for this crap? Don’t get suckered in like I did, just google your questions and follow whole30 recipes on Instagram. You’re welcome, you can send me your $2.99 because I just did about as much work as the app does.
Fatlady44,
Not really worth it
There are very few useful tools in this app. It’s kind of a waste of money. The barcode scanner is convenient but it’s quicker to just read the ingredients list. And the approved food list feature is exactly the same as just typing an ingredient followed by “whole 30” In search bar, the very first thing that comes up is whether it’s approved or not. And I don’t need an app to count down my 30 days...I’m painfully aware of the time already. What would have been great is a recipe database and even better one where you could enter a couple of ingredients and have recipe results using what you have in refrigerator. Even some fun notifications or badges to get you through the days.
amandalinky,
Good potential but lacking
I was so excited when I came across this app, as I just started the whole30 for the first time. Seeing as this isn’t a free app I had some higher expectations. When I go to use the barcode feature I’d say at least 50% of the items are recognize... and I’m talking popular items found at Costco or Trader Joe’s. How have these not been added to the list? I also scanned a barcode listed on a ranch dressing bottle made specifically for whole30 and it told me it wasn’t approved so it made me very weary of how accurate the results from the barcode scan even are. That being said, when a barcode is recognized, this app is a huge timesaver.
