Description

Take the mystery out of food. Find out which foods are more likely to cause problems such as pain and bloating and which foods you can eat without worry.

AIRE, by FoodMarble, allows you to learn more about the way your body reacts to the foods you eat. You can use this app on its own to log your diet and track your digestive symptoms throughout the day, as well as to rate your sleep quality and stress levels. You can also connect to a FoodMarble AIRE breath analyzer, the world’s first personal, portable hydrogen breath analyzer, to track your gut fermentation levels throughout the day.

TRACK YOUR FERMENTATION LEVELS. There are billions of bacteria living in your digestive tract in what is known as the gut microbiome. The bacteria living there digest the food you eat in a process called fermentation. Fermentation is not necessarily a bad thing, but studies show that symptoms such as bloating, cramping, diarrhea and constipation can correlate to high levels of fermentation in the gut.

By connecting to a FoodMarble AIRE hydrogen breath analyzer, you can monitor your fermentation levels throughout the day. Track your Fermentation Scores on a 0-100 scale. Record your Fermentation Scores after you eat various foods. See which foods cause higher and lower fermentation rates and which foods, sleep and stress levels correlate to better and worse symptoms for you.

LOG YOUR FOODS. Log the foods you eat throughout the day. You simply take a picture of the food you eat, add some text, and AIRE records the date and time. Apple Health integration available.

RECORD YOUR SYMPTOMS. Track the digestive symptoms you experience throughout the day. Keep track of when you’re feeling well or having symptoms such a pain, bloating or cramps.

MONITOR YOUR SLEEP. In order to live a healthy life, it is important to have proper sleep habits. With AIRE, you can keep track of how you have been sleeping to see if there is a pattern with your symptoms.

RATE YOUR STRESS LEVEL. Stress can play a role in our digestive system and the symptoms we experience. AIRE allows you to grade your daily stress levels.

PERIOD TRACKING. Can track your monthly and see how it affects your digestion. Apple Health integration available.

TEST YOURSELF AGAINST FODMAPs. “FODMAPs” are natural ingredients found in nearly every food we eat. Many healthy fruits, vegetables, grains and dairy products contain FODMAPs. For some people, certain FODMAPs cause digestive problems such as abdominal pain or bloating. With FoodMarble’s AIRE breath analyzer, you can test yourself against different FODMAPs to find out how your body reacts to these ingredients.

FODMAP FOOD DATABASE. FoodMarble’s food database indicates which foods are high and low in FODMAPs. After each FODMAP test, the food database will take account of your results, to show you which FODMAP-containing foods, you may be able to tolerate.

SET REMINDERS. Set reminders to take breath readings, or to log food, stress or sleep.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT. You can contact FoodMarble instantly through the app at any time by clicking on the “Contact Support” link in the Settings tab.

AnnalisseBaker,
From a Dietitians Perspective
Food Marble is a great device that allowed me to become more in tune with my body and learn what sugars I can and can’t absorb. For someone who struggles with IBS, I am always interested in ways on how to identify foods that trigger “flare ups.” Food Marble allowed me to pinpoint foods that trigger GI symptoms and ways to lessen the effects or avoid those foods completely.

As a dietitian, I would recommend this device to patients who are struggling to pinpoint their GI triggers through certain FODMAP foods. This device, in conjunction with the downloadable app, also provides various food alternatives to allow for a wide selection of foods, while limiting foods that cause GI symptoms, as well as a food diary to help keep track of symptoms and foods eaten. It’s so much easier than writing everything down! The part that stood out to me the most on being super innovative and interesting was the fact that the device was able to read how much hydrogen was being released from my breath and transmit that information to the app. To me, that was the coolest thing I have ever experienced with the device and app.

Thank you to Food Marble for allowing me to try this product, I really appreciate it.
davidOhVt,
A Grear effort that may need a little tweaking.
I’m on day 3 of using this device I never write reviews bit I’m finding this device of great benefit to me. The device itself seems to me to produce accurate information. The app is a little tricky to manage to start ( probably because I don’t read enough literature to o learn how to use it?) but now on day 3 I’m getting quicker, and finding it’s doing most of what I need it to do I just need to learn how to use it best. I consider this a great effort by the producers of this product, and it’s helping me become more conscious of which foods affect me in different ways. FINALLY I’m making a food log that I can reference. It is a bit time consuming but I think it’s worth it to try to isolate which foods, and carbs, fats, sugars etc are affecting my digestive system the most. I think the more work you put into keeping your records straight, the better the results well be for you.
Turdsmcghee,
Needs improvement
Why can’t I edit something from the notes?? So dumb. Could use more foods, and better ease of use to log meals, like option to repeat previous breakfast and lunch, etc. I saw that pop up once or twice but the option isn’t always there and goes away if you aren’t immediately ready to log. A lot of us with GI issues are forced to eat the same foods every day. I realize that it saves some meals, but the way it’s organized makes it difficult to tell which meal you are repeating since you can’t see the individual ingredients until you’ve selected it (sometimes there are slight variations to what I eat) or when it was last eaten. I usually end up putting it all back in manually since this function is awkward. Also, it seems you can’t edit a food once you’ve made a custom one? For example, I make my own yogurt and I added that food, but I’ve upped the intake on it and it defaults to the original portion size. Could be streamlined a lot. Sometimes I can test 5 minutes after my last test and get a much different result, so the accuracy is a little questionable. Overall, I do find it to be helpful to track my SIBO/LIBO.
Michele-m3,
Good but a little buggy
I just got my device yesterday, but I have been playing with the app for a couple days. Adding food to the log is a bit wonky. I noticed that adding multiple items to a meal takes time because the keyboard disappears for a moment causing. This causes me to have to research for a food if I go too fast. I also went to schedule a challenge for tomorrow morning, but it won’t let me pick 6am tomorrow when it is 8am today. Not all measurements are for the US. I had to add a food without a label, and I had to add the volume in grams instead of oz. Trying to edit a meal I already added wasn’t very intuitive. Took me a few minutes trying to figure out where to see my breakfast to make a change. I have been on a low FODMAP diet for 3 years. I now have a sucrose intolerance, so I got this app to help me identify specific FODMAPS that I can eat allowing me more food choices. I think the device is well worth the money, but navigating the app will take some time.

Device is Great, App Needs Major Improvement
The device itself is really great. It is wonderful to be able to track breath readings of both methane and hydrogen and get immediate feedback. However the app is lacking some key features. 1. There doesn’t seem to be a way to export data to share with doctors. 2. The food library is incredibly limited and sometimes factually incorrect, missing fodmaps or listing them when they are not there. 3. There is no way to add your own foods or meals with their fodmaps. 4. There is no correlation data to show you which foods may be problematic. 5. Viewing the impact of food on breath scores is difficult and has to be done on a day by day basis. The summary reports are too high level to be useful. 6. The bowel movements do not use the Bristol stool types but rather a 1-10 scale which has few descriptions.

As far as the device goes, I do recommend it. However it would be more useful to track meals, symptoms and bowel movements in a separate app, manually adding in your breath scores as notes, rather than using the FoodMarble app for that functionality.
Erika kb,
Great app. Glitched for a while though.
Just got my device and installed the app. After the first breath test the app started glitching. After letting the device warm up it would automatically shut itself off just as it was supposed to be ready to use. Then the app would say device not found. I tried it over and over again, disconnecting from Bluetooth, making sure my phone was fully charged, making sure the device was fully charged. Finally worked by restarting my phone. This is just fyi in case this happens to anyone else. Otherwise the device and app are working perfectly (once I got it to work!)

Not fully featured
What’s there is good, but there’s stuff that the app is lacking. There are some basic foods missing, like there is “macadamia milk” but not “macadamia nuts” - there’s even something like “fish tacos with lime and coriander mayo” so it’s odd that it’s then missing some basic foods. There’s no concept of supplements and medications in the app, you just have to put in everything as a meal. I also wish the meals could be time ranges, since you don’t eat a meal at 4:45 you eat at like 4:30-5, and timing matters. Plus, there’s no concept of like “a dash of garlic powder” as opposed to a full serving of garlic. I also wish the stool tracking was a bit more built out with sizes and an option to attach notes.
The MusicFile,
Food Marble
I love the concept of this app and technology but the food tracking options are no where near where they need to be. Many foods and brands are not included and the units of measurements for foods are not US based. It really only makes sense if you are eating meals with 1 or 2 basic ingredients that are in their database. It's also not easy to ask questions or understand what your readings mean and they often don't make sense. For example- I had A very high methane reading followed by a very high hydrogen reading the next day after eating the exact same thing at the same time of day. It is good for showing how your symptoms trend over time after having meals - not sure about much insight beyond that.
M before B,
First few weeks
I am attempting to isolate GI issues and I was excited to try the app and breath device. I enjoy the breathing device, connectivity is good, and tracking meals have demonstrated some trigger foods.

The app is good, but needs improvement to really help. First, it needs a print function to allow the history to be shared with a physician. There are some functional issues with the food choices that make it difficult to add custom items when a long list is present. Adding hydration tracking would be beneficial as I am using a separate app for that measurement.

Overall, it can be a slow start but I am making it my own with notes. I may be using it not as intended, but I have received benefit from the breath measurements.
Icantspellatll,
Still learning to use device.
I just got the device and I’m excited to use it. So far I’m frustrated with adding custom food items. If you make a mistake there is no way to edit or delete it. I tried to add the item again but the app will not allow me to because it identifies the barcode. Please update the app to allow editing or at least the ability to delete and start over. There is also a bug in the app because each time I click the home button the option changes. It’s weird and I tried to delete a meal over 10 times and it will not delete. It’s frustrating but I have hope once the bugs are fixed and the ability to edit it’ll be a great app. I will then write a new review.
