“When you open HeavySet you'll find most everything is made just to delight you.

“Let's start with data entry. The buttons are just where they need to be and big enough not to miss even with shaking legs — or hands. What's more, you typically only have to tap once to log a set; HeavySet's smart predictions have already accomplished the, umm, heavy lifting.”

Best app for tracking progress
I have tested probably 5-8 similar apps and this one is by far the best. Every app will take a couple days to get used to but this one is worth it. I personally use this app to track my weight lifting progress but it could be used for many other workout types.

On the surface it’s extremely simple but behind the scenes there is a ton of personalizations you can make to tailor the app and tracking metrics to you. Use those features or don’t, the app is great either way- and that’s what I like.

My favorite feature is being able to quickly access my previous workout or exercise to know how much I need to progress today. Tracking and viewing history is seriously so easy. Not to mention in app plate calculators and timers just a click away. I couldn’t recommend this app enough.
Chad McMahill,
Excellent
Lots of options to actually build your own programs that can be organized into folders and sub folders so that you can simply open one and the app will effectively step you through the session. These can be percentage dependent based on a training max that can be set manually or even updated automatically based on new rep records and e1RMs, all of which are tracked and logged in the history. You can create your own exercises and assign body parts to them so that you can track volume by body part, by session, by exercise, and by week. Nice graphs put this into a visual over time, and you can choose to track it by tonnage, reps, sets, etc. Of all the training apps I’ve tried, this one is easily my favorite mainly because of the flexibility it has to create your own routines. Hard to ask for anything better than this one. Seriously give it a try.
buckinole,
Awesome workout Log!
If you’re looking for a way to log your workouts for tracking and planning purposes, don’t look any further! Amazing... make sure to watch the video tutorials under the support tab. This will help understand how to use the app. It’s pretty involved and thorough and takes a little practice to master. But after setting up a few workouts, it’s very user friendly. Mid workout, you’ll be able to see past workout data for an exercise quickly and easily. You’ll be able to identify maximum reps for different weights used. You can setup supersets, giant sets, and more. Fantastic! A nice touch is the ability to also track your rest times, to ensure you at following correct rest periods, as well as monitor your tempo during an exercise.
Zebra5432,
Love it but have an update idea!
I am a professional volleyball player and I use this app a lot to creat workouts or input a workout my strength coach gave me! This app can do so much and it almost has everything I want in a program log and tracking app!
One thing I find myself wishing this app could do is doing my intensity percentage for me! The programs I do are all based off of my 1RM and I find myself having to go to my calculator to find 75% of 1RM! I wish I had a customizable section where I can add exercises and their respective 1RM max and be able to edit it whenever I need! Then when I add intensity percentage to my exercise it automatically calculates what weight I need!
Other than that, I love this app and how I can create folders of my different programs and add my own exercises and basically customize the app to what I need!
RamitGoolry,
Brilliant App - certain features could use some love to make it feature complete though
I have been using HeavySet for a few years and overall I’m pretty happy with how it works - it has a intuitive UI, and makes things simple to use.

I would suggest adding certain features to enable periodization management in the app though. Something as simple as the ability to increase working weight by 2% every week would go a long way to increase the utility of this app. It recommends weights naively based on the last workout, or you can tell it to suggest higher weights using the “deload” feature but that adds some friction in using this.
UberMortal,
Great tool but a little confusing
Update-
Found my issue on import was in the format. Missing a space between the routine name and the ##symbol. Docs would have helped.

Used for the first time today. Only one major issue is how touchy the buttons are ( a lot of unintended taps) and how little feedback is provided. When I logged a set, the timer doesn’t auto-start and the weight field is still showing it is editing but the set increments. If you aren’t paying attention you’ll hit log again, and again, thinking it didn’t register. You then notice you’re on set 3. Easy to edit and fix but could be avoided with a little UX work. UX aside, this is one impressive app, very well done.

—————————- old review ———-

I just found this app and it seemed to have everything I was looking for. While testing the import from pasteboard function it just stopped importing. When I copy something to the pasteboard, go back into Heavyset, instead of showing me the options it just says Heavyset Pasted from notes and then nothing. No routine or anything. I went to the developer website and there isn’t a support option. I paid for the full version. Does the developer still work on this app?
sbthr33,
I’ve come to love the app
HeavySet has become my go to app to log my workouts. I used to use Strong and tried out a few other apps, but since HeavySet was released, it’s the only app I’ve used to track my workouts. The UI is intuitive and organizing workouts is a breeze. The recent updates have only made it more compete with the addition of a plate calculator, which was the only thing it was really missing compared to the other apps. Minimal and beautiful, I enjoy using HeavySet during my workouts as much as I enjoy working out itself! Plus, for $5 to unlock all the apps features, it’s one of the cheaper, if not cheapest, paid apps with which to log workouts.
plasteredpenguin,
Solid app
I love this app and it’s flexibility but I have few minor suggestions that I think would make the app more functional. I wish you could be able to pin or place an exercise at the top of the progress section so I don’t have to scroll through all of the exercises to find one I am focused on. Also I wish it was easier to change mistakes when I accidentally log the wrong info instead of having to go through several screens to Change a number. Also I think it should be easier to write a note on the log screen like up weight or tough reps.

On the whole this is a great app and would recommend to anyone.
Nader Ar.,
Great for intermediate and above lifters
I’m pretty sure this is the only app that has RPE, automatic weight calculator based on intensity, automatic training max calculator, timer, tempo timer, all in one app. It even allows you to have multiple sets of the same workout at different intensities. There is no other app that does all of this, making it the best choice for all intermediate and above lifters who need these tools. There is a learning curve, and setting up your routine for the first time took a while, but it’s so worth it. It even allowed me to import my old data from the strong app. Definitely recommend this to anyone who’s workout complexity is high
d3b5005,
Love this app a lot. Just 2 things...
I love the idea. The app execution is outstanding and the UI looks incredible. There is so many features packed into a small little versatile app, but I feel like some essentials are missing. This app doesn’t have an option to log warmup sets, failed sets, or dropped sets. If it does then it has a hard time making it accessible and clear to access. Second, I am unable to input the weights I plan on doing for my next workout. Yes, I can just punch them in while doing it, but having the option to set how much weight you plan on doing would save me some time. Other than those two things this app is fantastic.
