Great way to make gains!
I had never had any structured weightlifting training prior to joining this program, but had been doing CrossFit for 2 years. I wanted to improve my Olympic lifts and this seemed like a great way to do so, so I took the leap and signed up. Once I started, I realized how much room I had to grow in my technique, and the Hybrid coaches were integral in that by reviewing my movements and giving me feedback. For anybody looking to improve in any aspects of your training, get real time feedback, and follow an awesome program that’ll get you stronger, I really recommend trying Hybrid Strength Coach! I’ve only been following it for a month and a half and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

Honest review
So, I have never done CrossFit. I have been going to the gym to do general fitness for three years. Never had a coach or a trainer. Finally decided to get a little structure. 4 days in to this and so far I want to cry every day once I have finished the workout. I must be crazy because i continue to come back. So far this app has been great, from the tracking of each set, notes section at the bottom where I can explain what I did if I wasn’t able to complete the specified movement, full range of workouts on each day so it’s not just hitting one muscle group. I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend to everyone to try.

Notes and timer aren’t great
Timer disappears if you try to look at anything in the app and pauses if you turn off your phone screen. Notes section deletes what I type and sometimes adds it again. Other times I have to type it just for what I previously typed to pop up again. Kind of annoying.

Edit: improvements to the notes and the reps and weight have vastly improved. The timer now stays on when the screen is off. All of my complaints have been addressed and fixed.

Great training programming but terrible app
The training programs are excellent for reaching your training goals. However, the app’s web-based format and terrible connection to its servers make it a kick in the shins to use. Some of the data entered doesn’t save because the app is constantly (90% of the time) stating that there is either no internet connection or that it’s lost connection to the servers.

Hybrid, please improve the stability, platform, server connection, and user interface experience. I know this isn’t your only review about this issue. I would usually not comment on any of these issues, but since this is a subscription-based program, I feel that feedback is vital to the users’ experience with your app.

Lack of links to instructional videos
Very disappointed about the “bank for your buck” trade off.
The monthly subscription is high compared to the quality of the content of the App. There are no links to instructional videos for any of the movements prescribed. The creators didn’t even bother create their own videos demonstrating the movements. Instead you watch a coach talking for 15 mins about how to do the movements. Really?
In terms of capabilities, for instance, when pull ups are prescribed , it doesn’t consider this is a body weight movement, so the “weight” field is not necessary, but it forces you to add a number.
As soon as I finish my program I’ll cancel my subscription.

I expected more from this app
This app is missing so many features that would make it 5 star and I honestly expected more from an app that hosts Mat Fraser’s programming. Especially since Hybrid strength is such an amazing brand! Things I wish this app had:

1. It would be incredibly convenient to have this app work offline. Currently deployed and the wifi is so bad I can’t pull up workouts.
2. For workouts with a percentage, I wish you could type in your 1RM and it would calculate each one for you.
3. To be able to see your previous numbers of a same workout instead of going searching through previous days and even then it doesn’t show percentages it just shows weigh lifted so you can’t tell exactly what the workout was.
4. Small but annoying, when I type anything into the notes the keyboard blocks the text box so i can’t see what I’m typing.

All in all decent app but so many small things that could make it so much better. Needs some better User Design to make the experience much better.

Hybrid review
I have used hybrid for 1.5 years. I started on the web based platform and now on the app. The structure and evidenced based training has really improved myself as a competitive athlete. Video are super helpful to better understand the movements. Access to coaches has been super helpful with form checks and questions. It is structured with purposed and isn’t some bro science programming. It has helped me reach powerlifting and physique goals. It provides the template and you have to put in the work. 100% worth it in my opinion. -willowgahr

Great concept, but seriously lacking. HWPO?
This app is a great concept but is seriously lacking both support and features. The lack of an ability to go back and view previous workouts when locked into a current session is a major flaw. What good is a notes section if I can’t easily go back and review my notes without cancelling out of the session and essentially rebooting the app. I went from recording my workouts on paper for three years to hoping this would make things easier. I think it could work, but it needs some serious revamping.

I’ve sent several emails to the support team that have not even been responded to. HWPO?

Unable to transfer membership
I prepaid for a year membership through the webpage and the app. Came out shortly after that. I contacted tech support for hybrid and they said they would not be able to transfer my membership and I would have to start a new subscription on the app despite already paying for a year of hybrid training. Additionally one of the reasons I bought a whole year was the discounted monthly price that applies after the year is up. If I switched to the app that discount wouldn’t apply. Very disappointing. I like hybrid training but I feel like as one of the OG subscribers to hybrid fitness, we haven’t been taken into consideration at all for the new app. It’s mostly just for new subscribers they pulled in with Matt Fraser.

App and web page issues
Disappointed because the program you pay for isn’t connected to the app and I hate using the webpage to look at the programming for the day. The webpage is also frustrating to use in the sense that you can’t pick your own days to workout it already has set days for you to workout on and you can’t move to the next on your own. So since I finished week 2 already it won’t let me move on to week 3 even tho my off days were diff from what it was set to. Not sure if I’m using it wrong but I’ve literally looked in every aspect of the website to try and change it and I can not. Program is great but man this has so much potential to be better.
