iControlAV2012 is the latest generation app. of its kind from Pioneer that allows you to control your 2012 Pioneer AV Receiver and Blu-ray Disc Player with your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
(A more comfortable operation can be done by the screen construction only for iPad that makes the best use of a big screen when installing it in your iPad.)

Needs to control A/B speakers
What is the point of being able to control your receiver if you have to walk to it to switch between A and B speakers. My outdoor speakers are connected to the receiver's B speaker output, and I have to climb 2 flights of stairs to switch it if I want to listen while outside. I can turn the unit on, change the input, and everything else all from my porch...why do I have to be standing in front of the unit to make this simple change? Pioneer you MUST build this feature into all versions of iControl!!! It's just so basic! 5 stars with this feature added!

Works Great
Love this app. I have the VSX-1122k and it operates very well. I'm impressed with all the functionality it has. The app allows you to do the obvious stuff like change inputs and change the volume but it also allows you to rename the inputs, make speaker setup changes such as speaker distances, volume bias adjustments per speaker and zone management. You can control zone 2 anywhere in the house (I use zone 2 for the in-house speaker system) and it is nice to be able to change pandora stations from anywhere.
The only thing I would like to see is the ability to turn the receiver on using this app. It was obviously considered and decided against because the app displays a message after turning the receiver off stating that you will need to turn it on manually to prevent accidental control from the app.

Great, Handy App
I use this on my SC-1522 and it is great and so handy for controlling volume, switching sound modes, and controlling the inputs such as Pandora radio.
Someone here wrote an angry review about not being able to register your Pandora account with this app. This is so easy to do through the receiver. Registering Pandora is not the purpose of this app. Controlling it from anywhere in the house is the purpose.
Great app. Disappointed to see so many poor reviews. I had an Onkyo receiver blow up on me after 2 years but I stick with Pioneer because of the quality and reliability I have experienced. One is still going strong for 10 years and counting.

Need lot of Improvements
First thing this remote app is not that user friendly. It not always correctly show whether your receiver is in on or off state, this bug need to be fixed. I had a problem once its stopped working, started showing wrong ip address and different receiver name and I need to physically un plug and plug back the receiver power plug to make it work again. I have only one receiver connected to my network. Not all the features and controls on the actual remote is available in the app. It has just a small subset of main features in it. Some of the selection are toggle selection and I prefer to select from the list which is much quicker. Pandora is throwing network error and I never able to make it work from the remote app.

Works great with the sc1222k Lots of great features. Would like to see a feature to keep the iphone from going into Lock function at adjustable timing limits instead of disabling the lock thru my phones settings menu. Soooo, I'm gonna keep a star. Yet, I'm Still well satisfied. There are several compatible Pioneer apps for different Pioneer Receivers you just have to find the right one for your system. As far as network for my receiver, I assigned it it's own IP address thru my WPA network. If you believe your settings are correct and the app and the receiver don't respond to each other, You should probably reboot your amp and the app and try it again.

Nice app, needs some polish
This app has all the right features and looks, very professional. It does have to reconnect almost ever time you switch to another app and back, the connection is not solid like in Roomie's remote. Also it will not hold landscape move once again when switching between apps, you have to "twist it" back every time. Most of the time I blame corporate policies on such things. The programmers or contracted programmers are most likely at the mercy of clueless management who only care about profits, hopefully I am wrong. Again a real nice app for my VSX-1122-K, hope they clean it up.

Works Just Fine for VSX-1122-K
Agree with couple of other reviews that app works provided you take the time to review which receivers are supported. Come on folks - each receiver has so many features I think it is unrealistic to expect an app to work for every single one of them. Pioneer has several different iControl apps - you just need to find which one supports your reciever. It works great and is nice to use for tuning the speakers. It will not replace your remote but does a lot of the calibration work very nicely and is useful if you want to adjust the balance and dialogue.

Not reliable
The iPhone and iPad apps are great eye candy but they are not 100% reliable. The volume and input controls always work but the tone and balance controls on Zone 2 only work about half the time.
I'm still trying to figure out what causes these functions to work intermittently. It's not the Wi-Fi connection as the volume and input controls always work.
I'm sure it's a software bug, so a future release will fix this problem hopefully. This app will gain a star or two when that happens.

Sweet App...
Purchased the Pioneer Elite SC-61, smokin' AV Receiver, and installed the IControlAV2012 app on my IPhone 5. My receiver is using a wired connection to my modem/router and overall I'm very impressed with this app. I use it to control, cable, Blue Ray/PS3, and all available features on the SC-61, (Pandora, Internet Radio, etc). I'm amazed at the range at which I can control the equipment, literally anywhere in my home. The only minor inconvenience is that I occasionally loose my device connection and need to reconnect, but overall this is a non-issue. Overall, for free it's a great app...

This app works great when you have a solid Wi-Fi connection. The app needs more remote control functions just like the remote that comes with AVR. It would be nice to change your detailed MCACC settings with this app, use sleep/dimmer functions, preset tuner stations etc. It's much easier to see iPhone screen at night over the cheap AVR remote with weak glow in the dark buttons. Pioneer please change app to have ALL control functions!!!
